- Our “Why I Vote” campaign gives artists a chance to share personal opinions on the key issues shaping the 2016 Presidential Election. Along the way, they encourage young people, a traditionally under-represented demographic at the polls, to participate in the political process that impacts us all. From Kesha to T.I. to American Authors, each episode focuses on a particular subject, including immigration, LGBTQ rights, mass incarceration, and education opportunities. We’re hoping to galvanize first-time voters interested in shaping their own future.
In our latest episode, we spoke with Tim McIlrath of Rise Against to discuss climate change, and the urgency to make a national priority of global warming’s debilitating impact on the planet. “For meaningful policy and meaningful legislation to happen, as voters, we need to put people in office who we believe have faith in making those things happen,” Tim says.
Previous episodes of “Why I Vote” featured Vic Mensa sharing his personal experiences with police brutality, T.I. telling his own story of growing up in Atlanta at the beginning of the government’s “War on Drugs,” Kesha discussing LGBT rights, American Authors talking about gun safety, and Becky G. discussing immigration.
Upcoming episodes of “Why I Vote” will premiere in the coming weeks, and will feature Andra Day, Common and JoJo.

I fully support voting. I myself have been registered to vote since I turned 18 and have voted and will continue to vote. on the other hand, I don't believe we have to put the rest of our lives in those elected. no one should bet everything they stand for and everything they wish to accomplish into a candidate. I was a huge Bernie Sanders supporter and I still believe he would have been the best for most Americans, but since he lost, I won't give up hope in making change. we as the people of this country. as the people of this world must push for the well being dispite who is in office. yes, one may make it easier than another but we can still do it weather the president is for or against us.

As much as I agree with getting clean energy moving (for many different reasons, not just "climate change"), I care about having a government that won't send me to a war (or put us to war with ourselves) in the next few years that will kill me, thereby not even having me worry about this crap.

How small your perspective is? Vote on the smallest scale who represent you WHEN they eventually have a say in the electoral college they might vote for your interests. This is not a one day fix, this will take a generation of people to be relentless and engaged. Your vote matters every time you even spend a dollar on a product, stop being so naive and read about your country, your community and the planet. Let's be the change.
