I lived in the area when I was a kid in the mid 70's, we built a rope swing onto the lake and fished many times in that lake, the old mill house was always a memory of this place. enjoyed the video very much.
I don't know to whom you are speaking. I never said this place would be better without this house. I was not very fond of some of the "improvements" that were made by the owners when I toured this home (personal taste, I suppose). The house itself is awesome. I have lived in this area for a long time and drive by this house often, Always loved it. I would love to be able to be able to tour the place now.
They have completely redone all the landscaping now. It looks a little different. And from what I understand, there has been major renovations inside the home as well. I wish they would have another open house....I wanna see!
@BStewart27 - Awesome to hear about the renovations! Yeah, those stairs....I was afraid of them. LOL I wish I could see the place now. Any plans for an open house or anything?
Ah, I see now. The person you should have replied to was ustgivemethetruth. They left this comment - "I cannot help but think the whole area would look a lot better without the huge house.". Yes, I disagree with that comment as well.
No, this is a private home that my brother has owned since 2008. The RUclips video was my first picture of it as my brother has never allowed me to see it. There is an annual Christmas party when hundreds of invited guests are there. The adage that blood is thicker than water has never applied in my family.
I'm very sorry to hear that. This video was made when I was there at the open house when it was up for sale in 2008. I suppose your brother was the buyer? I thought the house was unique...but not exactly what I would want in a home (even if I had that sort of money). I actually preferred the much smaller guest house that is on the property as opposed to the main house. The main house did not give me any feeling of warmth or coziness. It just came across as a large pretentious house that needed lots of updating and was grossly over-priced at $3.3 million (just my personal opinion).
This sure is a fine residence. It is really tragic that the owner is so jaded that he does not even allow his immediate family to visit or see his palatial reclusive retreat. I can only assume that vanity is a very seductive drug, as hideous as cocaine.
thank you for posting this, I've been looking everywhere for more info about this place

looks like an easy backyard to mow.
I cannot help but think the whole area would look a lot better without the huge house.
@SCL0PS - The stairs looked cool, but they were hard to climb. They were made of polished marble and they were slippery.
@RDJim - LOL! good point! However, in this case, I would be worried my backyard was going to end up in my basement.

They need to cut down the ivy and have a more clean look.

From what I understand, this house is not a private residence and hasn't been for quite some time (since 2010). www.lasatermillhouse.com/index.html
a couple gay doctors live there now
