Funny thing is that iPhone was build as a phone not a camera while Sony FX30 was build as a camera. Seeing these two compete and with only minor difference is mind blowing. iPhone can do a lot of things such as Gaming, video calls, text message, voice record, taking notes, alarm clock and more! The best part is you can put it inside your pocket! Sony needs to step up their software for real! This is my opinion so I’m just telling what I feel about these kind of comparison. Great video!

      If you say so-
There just isn’t proper detail being captured by the iPhone. It’s not performant as a camera in the documentary sense for industrial or scientific use-if this was video of a materials stress test, something like a rocket engine or a car wreck, etc… the phone isn’t doing the job of “a camera.” It’s just making a fuzzy video.
If all you want fuzzy video, you don’t really need a camera-
I don’t see the camera falling short here at all.

It's genuinely hard to fathom the Voodoo Apple is doing to make the iphone 15 hang with a beast like the FX-30. I mean, it's a cinema camera against a phone...It shouldn't be "zoom in to 500% at night to see the difference" difference!
This comparison is incredible! Thank you so much. Best of luck with your channel!

Thank you for the very informative video. I still have one question. As far as I know, both 1x and 2x modes of the main sensor use 12 MP, so that in both cases a native 4K video is created.
So the only difference should be that the pixels in 1x mode due to the binning of the sensor are significantly larger than when crop into the unbinned 48 MP in 2x mode. That resulting in better low-light behavior than in 2x mode.
Do I see this correctly and does this alone also explain the fact that despite the same resolution, the 2x mode image contains less detail?
Hope my english is understandable enough.

I am an Android user and I never think of leaving Android. I am currently shooting all my videos on my RUclips channel with a Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. Its performance is tremendous, especially in a well-lit studio and in daylight, but its low light performance is poor, so I'm thinking of buying a new device. While reviewing cameras, the models I looked at were always flagship devices. But I was personally disappointed to see that they were at very similar levels. Because having the phone in my pocket at all times and being able to take photos and videos at any time, being practical and lightweight is a great advantage. I am currently impatiently waiting to see what kind of camera the S24 Ultra model will have, and while I was wondering whether I should buy the DJI Osmo Pocket, I was saddened to see that even with its 1 inch sensor, its performance was worse than the phone, except for night and low light performance. I'm still on the phone. Even though I wanted to change it, I couldn't see a camera that would say take me.

if im a camera company ill probably be very worried now. The camera market is going to be very very niche. The convenience of an iPhone is crazy shoot edit film share all on one device that fits in your pocket. And now the quality is almost indistinguishable for the everyday joe. But if you’re watching this video you’re probably a pixel peeper. 😂

Although compact cameras have a trick up their sleeve, tripod screw support, removable battery (For instant recharges) mechanical buttons, and quite a few are also cheaper. Phones may be getting fairly good especially on the software end but there is still plenty of benefits to a dedicated camera even if its a small one. The main purpose of a phone will always be the phone function, and all of the other tools it has.

About the test… ProRes log footage is definitely a game-changer for the iPhone. Although i don't think anybody would choose it as a b-cam. It just doesn't make sense. In this price point, you better pick up the Sony A6700. The iPhone is good as your on-hand camera. But still, it is so nice to watch such a comparison :) iPhone does a really great job!
