I never “plan” on killing PCs, but my monsters are not stupid and use tactics. If the PCs make poor decisions death can occur. My players are aware of this and enjoy it because it makes decisions important.
Makes sense. The Calling was a perfectly built party so their effective level is probably 20-40% higher than their actual levels suggest. Thus routinely my encounters were under powered. This is also the most powerful campaign I've ever run (12th level) and I struggled a bit to challenge them. I'm learning 😁
@@D20Pub last campaign I was a player in was Age of Worms by Paizo. The guy running it I've been gaming with for 40 years. He kept an obituary, 48 PC deaths, I think 12 we're permanent
@@D20Pub still it produced some amazing characters by the end. We still tell stories. In fact, it's actually bled over into our current campaign. Two characters are sons of those characters, one is a grandson from our AD&D days, and one somehow related to a character from our 3.0 days
You've never killed a PC??? Man I've killed dozens! I can't imagine not killing PC's. I never plan on killing PC's though... It just happens depending on their decisions, tactics, and luck!
@@D20Pub my advice? Never underestimate players, always run encounters based off not just physical but also mental attributes, and almost always let the dice determine the outcome. The almost occasionally calls for intervention to avoid very bad luck that serves no purpose.
Excellent. sounds quite exciting 😏👍
Hope so!

@@D20Pub I'm going to post a very cool link on the discord. It's specific to Pathfinder but will give you a lot of food for thought.
You mention the most complex event you ever ran. Do you have a link to that?
Absolutely! ruclips.net/video/VKUQbb7Pgyc/видео.html
You've never killed a PC permanently?
Nope! I think I'm a little too soft. Haha

@@jima6545 That's so cool. I hope to have a campaign run long enough to pull that off. :D

Haha! That's a badge I hope to get soon. 😁 Let's see what my players think about this comment! Haha
