@Mountain View picture's FILMS™ Good Pick. That is also probably his most personal album! I'd probably go with this one, "Last Temptation" though I do like both "Nightmare" albums and "Paranormal."
I think that wouldn't be easy to get exactly right in terms of the timing, but it would be nice to listen to in the background. They certainly do complement each other though.
Good work. Thanks for this amazing analysis. As one who's been called a boomer too many times already, I'm happy to see young people appreciating this kind of music.
Nice! I've never thought of the idea of Alice and the temptation of addiction. Yet, it can easily be implied. I'm with you in that "It's Me" is a great song but a real departure from the overall story. Overall it's a top 10 AC album for me. Great job!
Yeah I love the song, but it feels kind of out of place in the narrative. It's definitely one of my favourite Alice ballads though an one of the few Alice songs my bf likes!
I was just thinking about "The Last Temptation" the other day while watching "The Sandman." I've never listened to the album, but I loved the comic book miniseries. I should order the graphic novel some day.
@@EnchantedEssays I actually listened to it last night. Not bad! Although I noticed a few differences plot wise between the album and comics. The former seems to be more about Alice conquering his alcoholism, while the latter is more of a classic Neil Gaiman horror-fantasy.
It’s such a shame that Alice never went through with the plans that he had for The Last Temptation, There was meant to be a full on conceptual stage tour that brought the album and the Comic to life almost in a broadway sense. But for whatever reason that got scrapped and the closest we got to it was the Rock an Roll carnival tour that happened in 97, which seemed to only taste apon on the original idea for the albums initial tour. Hopefully someday Alice will play all of the Steven albums in full like in an “An Evening With…” sort of thing where Nightmare 1,2 and Last Temptation are played in full. Probably won’t happen but a Cooper fan can dream 😅
Oh wow I never knew that! Yeah I'd love to see it as a film, but a stage show would work well too. Of course, theatre can be harder to sustain financially.
@@EnchantedEssays Yeah for some reason Nightmare 1, From The Inside, Brutal Planet and Dragontown have been the only concept albums of Alice’s (so far) to get full on dedicated tours. Goes to Hell was planned but got overshadowed as Nightmare 1 was such a success and Alice was suffering from his alcoholism, Along Came A Spider never got a full on conceptual tour, We got the Theatre of Death tour instead (of which only one song from the album was played) and Nightmare 2 got the Raise The Dead Tour (only about one or two songs from it got played on the tour). Conceptually, the Theatre of Death and Raise The Dead didn’t have anything have to do with the concepts of the two albums they are now associated with. Again which is a shame cos both Along Came A Spider and Nightmare 2 are brilliant albums that are really underrated! (Sorry for the long comments, I’m an admitted Alice nerd 😅)
I'm a bit late to the party (having just found the channel) but I will mention that Alice Cooper Goes To Hell is my favorite concept album in his catalogue (and favorite album all around). I love Nightmare as well, and even though it's a bit vague in places, I also like Dada ("Scarlet and Sheba" is also one of my favorite Alice songs). Although The Last Temptation is not one of my favorite albums, Like you, "It's Me" is one of my favorite songs, too. It's a wonderfully beautiful ballad that often stays in the back of my mind on occasion.
I had the CD back then and got all three comics. They are beautifully done. In 2015, I got to meet Alice Cooper and I got him to sign the first of the 3 comics. He was really nice, but very low key. I was surprised listening to Paris Jackson discussing meeting Alice because her experience was similar to mine. I was also very surprised to learn with that interview that she is a big AC fan. I don't know why, but I would not have thought she would be.
Wow! You're so lucky! I love how in real life he's this now sober, mild-mannered Christian grandpa who really loves horror films but he's still Alice on stage!
@@EnchantedEssays His concerts are an interesting mix of people that is for sure, all ages and different types of people. Most concerts you go to there is a certain crowd or demographic that is evident just by looking around at who is there. An Alice crowd, especially since he's been around for decades, is all over the place in terms of people. The last time I saw him was at Pantages here in LA. It was October 30th. I think 2017? Not sure on year. Anyway, it was an absolute fantastic show with a Halloween crowd of costumes and just people wanting to hear some hard rock/metal. Johnny Depp and Joe Perry made appearances and played on a few songs too.
@@TheIndependentLens Wow! That's Awesome! I went to see him for the first time a couple of months ago and I thought he was incredible. I still can't quite believe it happened!
I have been aware of the album since the late 90’s and owned the cd for almost as long. Was just revisiting the album today for the first time in some years… And I just learned today that there is a comic with this album! Thank you very much for this brilliant video! ❤️
Considering how popular they've been lately due to their adaptations, I'm somewhat surprised you didn't use American Gods or Good Omens as examples of Gaiman's work he may be better known for today! 😆 I just realised that Steven's wearing a Spider-Man shirt, too!
Yeah I didn't want to use Good Omens because it was co-written. I started reading it but then the library wanted it back when I was a couple of chapters in 😔. Yeah there are a few other Marvel background references in it. One of the other kids dresses up as Wolverine for Halloween.
That's the film that introduced me to Alice Cooper! I remember being so confused because a man was called Alice. I finally saw him in Leeds a couple of months ago and he started with Feeding My Frankenstein. It was bloody incredible!
What's your favourite Alice Cooper concept album?
@Mountain View picture's FILMS™ Great choice! I haven't listened to it all the way through, but We're All Crazy is one of my favourites
@Mountain View picture's FILMS™ Good Pick. That is also probably his most personal album! I'd probably go with this one, "Last Temptation" though I do like both "Nightmare" albums and "Paranormal."

I've never wanted to be an Alice Cooper fan as much as after watching this video! I need to go listen to this album!
It's a fab one! I ended up liking it more and more the longer I worked on this video.
It is without a doubt my favorite.
👌
This video is so great! Definitely deserved that Neil Gaiman himself noticed it!
Thank you so much! I'm still buzzing!
@@EnchantedEssays I'm not surprised he liked it! This video is really well-made! It's your best one yet :)
Another great vid putting me into films and music I've completely missed
Glad to hear it!
Am proud to own ALL 3 Comics❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I'm so jealous! Thanks for watching!

I definitely need to read more Neil Gaiman! 💛 I’ve recently got his book on Norse mythology which I’m excited to read
Cool! I'm looking to read more of his stuff myself
