Good video Leo! Not everybody is fan of white noise, see the reaction of a playlist curator/artist I got yesterday: " what I love less is the white noise texture, gladly you drop it when the song climaxed, but believe on that, you dont need this element, this not going to break the more sliented parts and this feels "amateur" i'm sorry but that's the truth. "
=OOOO ... He should say that to Ben Bohmer, Armin Van Burren, Fred Again, Skrillex, Seven Lions and almost any other artist I know. Do you think their songs sound Amateur since they all use that? Regardless, I love them and I'll keep on using Thanks for the comment BRAM!
Its great that you show problems that occur when producing and then give the perfect solution to it! This is first hand experience knowledge that you can't weigh in money or any currency 👌 Leo helps people to make their songs come to life 🌱 Thanks!
Reminds me of a visual design principle: instead of trying to hide an edge between two parts or materials, add meaningful visual elements between them. Makes the edge more deliberate instead of just there and slapped-together-looking.
Great video, Leo! Thanks for giving us these tips I am no Leo Lauretti but here are a few tips from me that works: 1 - Adding a send/return reverb shimmer in your drums and automating to 0-100% in the transition to create a feeling that the drums are vanishing (instead of using a regular low pass filter, 1-4 bars are something to experiment)... it will also create a swoosh effect in the next section 2 - Adding phaser in a group of elements (drums, synths or vocals) to change the perspective of the mix, automation 0-100% (1-4 bars are something to experiment) 3 - Echo can also make the transition smoother but it has to be used carefully because it depends in the element and how much will you use it (usually its better to use in synths or vocals)
totally would love a video about buildups to break from the traditional buildup how to build intensity for the drop to actually like a release i feel my buildups work more as bad transitions lol
a 12 db high cut is a type of filter, like the one that I'm using in ableton.. I only have the signal that you're seeing there and I'm filtering the high cut with a high cut, and the slope of the cut is 12 db (as in, 12dbs per octave. Something like this www.claredot.net/en/sec-Sound/low-pass-cross-over-12dB.php Don't forget to join our Discord Channel abstraktmusiclab.com/discord
Maybe it isn’t your thing but maybe make a vid on adding distortion only to the kick drum to make it fuller and heavier. That’s where I’m experimenting but trying not to make it muddy.
yeahhh that's completely not my thing, to be honest. I never add distortion to my drums.. especially in my kick. To me it's all about finding the right sounds instead of making bad sounds with distortion become better, you know? Does that make sense?
@@AbstraktMusicLab I get what you mean. Not like over bearing but it’s like a hint of it. I only experimented cuz I listened to NIN a lot growing up and Trent in an interview said that’s where he’s get a lot of the off-sounding kicks from. But when the snare sounds good… it blends nice.

What do you mean by a 12 dB high cut? Do you have a dry and wet signal where you only cut 12 dB with a high pass filter?
