- VEHICLE COMPATIBILTY:
Subaru STI Manual (2002-2020)
Compatible with OEM shifter assemblies only. Not compatible with aftermarket short shifters.
Compatible with all Likewise shifters and extensions.
Compatible with OEM shift knob.
Will require regular grease application as part of normal maintenance.
While all efforts have been made, you may experience an increase in noise and vibration.
TOOLS REQUIRED:
2.5mm Hole punch
Small hammer
16mm wrench
DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS:
Step 1.
Unscrew the OEM shift knob.
Step 2.
Shift the vehicle into third gear. Locate the roll pin in the middle of the OEM reverse lockout. Use a 2.5mm punch and a small hammer to gently hammer out the roll pin. Once the roll pin is removed, leave the punch inserted through the OEM reverse lockout. Do not remove the punch. The punch must remain inserted through the OEM reverse lockout until Step 5.
Step 3.
Massage the shift boot off the OEM reverse lockout base.
Step 4.
Using a low profile Phillips head screwdriver, unscrew the two screws on the underside of the base of the OEM reverse lockout.
Step 5.
While holding the punch, pull up the OEM reverse lockout and shift the vehicle into reverse. Once in reverse, remove the punch.
Step 6.
Remove the top of the OEM reverse lockout, OEM spring, and OEM reverse lockout base.
Step 7.
Remove any existing grease on the shifter assembly.
Step 8.
Apply the supplied grease to the shifter assembly.
Step 9.
Install the RLX base, OEM spring and RLX top onto the shifter assembly. Ensure that the tongue and groove of the RLX base and RLX top are aligned at the back of the shifter assembly.
Step 10.
Push the supplied hex key through the top hole in the RLX. This will align the lug in the middle of the reverse lockout. Once aligned, install the supplied hex screw. Do not overtighten the hex screw.
Step 11.
Shift out of reverse and test that the RLX functions correctly.
Step 12.
Insert the two supplied hex screws into the RLX base.
Step 13.
Massage the shift boot onto the RLX base.
Step 14.
Install the supplied M12x1.25mm Thread Adapter PLUS+ and tighten with a 16mm wrench. Install the Likewise shifter or extension.
Step 15.
Install the RLX lever at your preferred height using the two supplied hex screws. Very minimal torque is required for a tight fit. Do not overtighten the screws.
Step 16. Check that the RLX reverse lockout functions correctly. Enjoy!
Wow, this is the first install I've ever seen with smooth jazz as the background music and works so well!
Functional and beautiful.....whats not to love?
Can’t see why this wouldn’t work with a cartboy or a Cobb short shifter as I’ve used both and they all have the same shaft diameter, I guess the only difference in question would be the length but usually the length of the short shifters is taken from the end of the shaft where the ball joint is below the reverse lockout not the top half. I will most likely buy this and test it on my 6 speed Cobb shifter and let yall know
Will it fit on a normal WRX? Probably a dumb question. Example 2015-2021 WRX
No it does not. I just got mine in and it's completely different.
Is it useable without the red bit? I'm not a fan of it.
I NEED this on my 2017 WRX. What STI parts do I need to buy? What’s not compatible?
DO you guys a reverse lockout for the 22+ BRZ/GR86 or does the one from the 2013 - 2021 work with the new one too?
FINALLY!!!!!
Is there any reason this wouldn’t work with the kartboy short shifter?
Is there any reason this wouldn’t work with the kartboy short shifter? Looks like it would be ok
Haven't tested this yet. Stay tuned!
Is this compatible with the automatic transmission
Will it work on the GRB in 2007
I have seen somebody write a review on turn in concepts tall boy shifter collab with Kartboy. In his pictures he has Likewise shifter. Anyone know if this fits ? On their site it says only compatible with OEM shifters
Has anyone tested this with the COBB short shifter?
Cheers
Exactly what I need! Where can I buy this setup?

Nope, only the STI. Completely different shifter in the WRX.

Will it work on the 22 wrx?
It's only for the STI.
