  • Toyota Camry has always been quick to adapt to modern times and the 8th generation model is no different. For 2019, it looks more upmarket than before, boasts of more space and a longer features list. There's a revised powertrain under the hood which is more efficient than before, despite packing more power. And then there is the new TNGA platform which might even convince you to move to the driver's seat. All of this, while being more affordable than before.

    The camry sells more in the north American market because over here it's mostly used for taxis and uber but in India it is offered more as an luxury saloon where it then has to compete with the germans. Jmo.

      Absolutely right! The new Camry is good and I wish I could have it. But look at it this way, at almost 38 lakhs on the road, that is dangerously close to the Land Rover Discovery territory. Coz starting at 44 lakhs you get more toys and 4 wheel drive. All said and done, I am a big admirer of Toyota's build quality and reliability (excludes the Etios and everything that looks like it)

It's just foolishness on part of Toyota, they just focus on Innova and Fortuner and expect Indians will happily buy their 2-3 generations old Etios and shit or a horribly priced Camry.. It took them a decade to finally bring Yaris to India and now that segment is too competitive and they're losing there too. God knows who's heading their India unit.

    the main reason corolla and camry failed in India is the overpricing considering the price in other countries..Still it continues to be priced high with this model too..camries are very nice cars but it is the reason behind its failure in India. Toyota is pricing very high their cars in India. Fortuner and Innova crysta are considered as just normal cars abroad but premium in India. Their sales numbers are high in India despite its high pricing is because of its seating capacity and reliability..

    All the reviews of the New Camry are only quoting the Trai fuel economy figure. I expected @powerdrift to at least show the real life fuel economy that’s displayed in the instrument cluster of the test car which Glenn just drove .
    Good review by Team Powerdrift but missed out on the one thing that potential new buyers of hybrid tech are puzzled about - Real World Efficiency of the Camry !

    • @adityapandey6664
      @adityapandey6664 5 лет назад

      I was able to get a fuel economy of 17.3 kmpl in the old Camry hybrid when it was claimed as 18.16 kmpl. I hope the difference is maintained and it's just not a gimmick .

    • @gouthamreddy1610
      @gouthamreddy1610 5 лет назад

      17 kmpl is excellent relatively. But it’s very misleading why reviewers comfortably omit the real life economy which is displayed on the instrument cluster.

    The new-gen Camry looks good but, its not that appealing. The powertrain is capable enough to cater a good driving experience. I loved how they have worked on the inside. The cabin feels premium and it comes equipped with some good amount of features which can easily convince a buyer to invest their money on her.
