This song just punches me in the heart. I have always loved this song and it means different things to me at different times. Wishing everyone reading this healing from whatever hurts and peace.
I would take a bullet for Sara! Most of the time, if not all the time, her cover songs are better than the originals. Her voice soothes my soul and gives me goosebumps every time I hear her. She is an angel. I am so glad I found her.I can't imagine my life without her. What a loss that would have been for me. Thank you, Sara! I owe you one.
Most taylor covers are pretty bad because her voice has such a unique tone that adds so much to her lyrics. But this is incredible, the best Taylor cover I've ever heard by far and one of my favorite covers period. Only Taylor cover I like more than the original, but thats obviously because Sara really altered the structure and arrangement to really make it her own. This version just makes the lyrics really hit hard, the bridge is so moving
The drought was the very worst (Oh-oh, oh-oh) When the flowers that we'd grown together died of thirst It was months and months of back and forth (Oh-oh, oh-oh) You're still all over me Like a wine-stained dress I can't wear anymore Hung my head as I lost the war And the sky turned black like a perfect storm Rain came pouring down When I was drowning, that's when I could finally breathe And by morning Gone was any trace of you, I think I am finally clean (Oh, oh, oh, oh) There was nothing left to do (Oh-oh, oh-oh) When the butterflies turned to dust that covered my whole room So I punched a hole in the roof (Oh-oh, oh-oh) Let the flood carry away all my pictures of you The water filled my lungs, I screamed so loud But no one heard a thing Rain came pouring down When I was drowning, that's when I could finally breathe And by morning Gone was any trace of you, I think I am finally clean (Oh, oh, oh, oh) I think I am finally clean (Oh, oh) Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh-oh Said, I think I am finally clean (Oh, oh) Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh-oh Ten months sober, I must admit Just because you're clean, don't mean you don't miss it Ten months older, I won't give in Now that I'm clean, I'm never gonna risk it The drought was the very worst (Oh-oh, oh-oh) When the flowers that we'd grown together died of thirst (Oh) Rain came pouring down When I was drowning, that's when I could finally breathe And by morning Gone was any trace of you, I think I am finally clean Rain came pouring down When I was drowning, that's when I could finally breathe And by morning Gone was any trace of you, I think I am finally clean Finally clean Think I'm finally clean (oh, oh) Oh-oh, oh-oh (Oh, oh, oh) Think I'm finally clean
Taylor played this song very similarly in one of her concerts that was shared in the Miss Americana documentary. When I heard this version by Sara it reminded me so much of Taylors more recent live versions of this song! So so good by two incredible artists.

My husband weeps when Sara sings this cover. Props to her and to Taylor ❤️🫶🏻
The drought was the very worst
(Oh-oh, oh-oh)
When the flowers that we'd grown together died of thirst
It was months and months of back and forth
(Oh-oh, oh-oh)
You're still all over me
Like a wine-stained dress I can't wear anymore
Hung my head as I lost the war
And the sky turned black like a perfect storm
Rain came pouring down
When I was drowning, that's when I could finally breathe
And by morning
Gone was any trace of you, I think I am finally clean
(Oh, oh, oh, oh)
There was nothing left to do
(Oh-oh, oh-oh)
When the butterflies turned to dust that covered my whole room
So I punched a hole in the roof
(Oh-oh, oh-oh)
Let the flood carry away all my pictures of you
The water filled my lungs, I screamed so loud
But no one heard a thing
Rain came pouring down
When I was drowning, that's when I could finally breathe
And by morning
Gone was any trace of you, I think I am finally clean
(Oh, oh, oh, oh)
I think I am finally clean
(Oh, oh) Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh-oh
Said, I think I am finally clean
(Oh, oh) Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh-oh
Ten months sober, I must admit
Just because you're clean, don't mean you don't miss it
Ten months older, I won't give in
Now that I'm clean, I'm never gonna risk it
The drought was the very worst
(Oh-oh, oh-oh)
When the flowers that we'd grown together died of thirst
(Oh)
Rain came pouring down
When I was drowning, that's when I could finally breathe
And by morning
Gone was any trace of you, I think I am finally clean
Rain came pouring down
When I was drowning, that's when I could finally breathe
And by morning
Gone was any trace of you, I think I am finally clean
Finally clean
Think I'm finally clean (oh, oh)
Oh-oh, oh-oh
(Oh, oh, oh) Think I'm finally clean

Absolutely beautiful version. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you very much for the upload of this video. We needed a clip of this version alone! ❤❤❤
Thank you so much for uploading this edited version thank you again!
This was how the song was supposed to be ...slow and acoustic
I'm sorry Taylor but
This version>>>
I agree that the message is more clearly expressed in a slow and acoustic version
I anticipated the recorded version to have been like this, Taylor didn't give us but all thanks to Sara for bringing my expectations to fruition.

I just realized that the beginning sounds like the acoustic version of State of Grace!!

I think,... i like this version more than the original it feels more heartfelt, ❤
I loved this so much and idk about you but the intro proper gave me “drivers licence” vibes
