When you look at these character's facial animations, they were ahead of their time.
Yes. From a surface level many will see it as cartoony or 'aged badly', but actually no, they're quite expressive, the subtlety in their mannerisms has a real and humanlike quality.

I wish game had a direct sequel, do not misquote me I am NOT talking dubedition. A sequel about THIS current cast plus more. I'd love to learn their backstories as to how the got in the racing scene and such. But this maybe more complicated then it looks

Honestly, out of all of the racers I think I felt the worst about taking Savo's car. He doesn't seem to have much going for him despite having everything.
People like that really just need a good friend.
Nah, he's relived that he doesn't have to carry the burden of world champ. Dude probably had to race everyone ten times over to hold the title.
I mean Savo came up from being just a taxi driver from New York. He was just bored with success that him losing the title and his car became a huge relief that he doesn't have to race anymore.

I've played this game for years, but every day Ken'ichi appears in his cutscene, I always get goosebumps. There is just something so intimidating about him.
So glad I'm not the only one.
20 years later & I am still shocked Makoto is the 3rd Main Antagonist/Tokyo Champion. It should be Ken'ichi not Makoto.

Did every game since the first game But shortly after midnight club, LA the heads from angel studios. Got p***** off with Rockstar and told them to go f*** themselves and quit.

Man i was a little snotnose kid when i fell in love with everything this game was about.
It was just wayyy too hard for me obviously and then one day a friend of mine brought a printed list of cheat codes to (ELEMENTARY) school and explained to me what they even were.
I thought he hacked the game fr like where did that RPG come from?!
Thanks to him 10 year old me also managed to beat the career mode by setting the opponent speed to like 50%.

I was starting my freshman year of HS when this videogame came out. Savo was not easy to beat.
@@juwanhowardhll8019I played this in 2005, beat it and now since my ps2 is long gone (cuz I switch to Xbox when the 360 came out although I didn’t get it until 2008) so is MC2 cuz the CD stopped working in 2007 but luckily I beat the game beforehand. I will always treasure this game as my very first (before MC3)

Well, accent aside (which is super-exaggerated, but I kinda like it), the sentences are wrong, probably because Rockstar didn't hire any Italian mothertongue to check the texts.
"Andiamo andiamo. Prego. I don't have-a time to waste." - I don't understand the use of "Prego" (Please), probably he meant "Per favore". Prego is the translation of "Don't mention it" or "I pray" (depends by the context).
"Ora di tempo di iniziare la corsa" is a wrong sentence. It should be: "È il momento di iniziare la gara." (Corsa is also correct, but gara is a better translation).
"Questo come è possibile? Something is not right." - Literal translation of "How is this possible?", a better sentence would have been: "Ma come è possibile?".
