request! sound quality are the preamps superior to the tf1? it seems to me only a smaller tf1, I don't think there are differences in sound... in sound quality!!! can anyone give me an answer?
Only YEARS of experience allows a FOH engineer to have such a cool, calm and collected demeanor (especially) whilst working a new (to him) piece of kit! Saying that...who wouldn't be confident mixing such a great and seasoned group of musicians as these!! Wish I had one of these setups back in the '70s when I was starting out! LOL Hats off to Yamaha for their dedication to making recording/mixing such a piece of cake for all us vets and newbs as well!
Looks like the perfect customer for the DM3 is someone who already owns one or more of the larger Yamaha consoles, as I do. I do many small setups where this compact mixer easily has enough inputs and outputs. The small size, light weight, and familiar control interface make it really easy. And yes I will keep my larger consoles for when I need more inputs and outputs.
Pretty sure it's already setup, the same way a TF would be. So every input goes out to USB, and on every channel you can select whether you listen from USB or Mic input. No patching screen probably.
Hi Gabo, thank you for your comment. Channels 1 - 14 were patched to USB channels 1 - 14 on the DAW (as standard), however you can assign each channel to any USB output you require with flexible patching! Provided you have the correct drive, you can set this up just like any other interface for recording by selecting it within your DAW settings. We hope this helps.
Excuse me for my noob question but if I want to record the band at the same time via cubase I need a Dante card? Or you can do it also with the dm3 standard?
Looks quite good, but the lack of physical buttons kinda worries me for a live situation to be honest. The on screen buttons look really really small. I think it is a good device for touring with a small band, but if everything on stage is getting more complicated I think I would not be happy with this mixer.
From what I gathered, you just tap on the screen and then twist the big knob to adjust that thing. So it's more of a 2 hand operation but you have access to your individual stuff so much quicker. X32 style knobs only work to some extent, yes there's muscle memory but you still have to push buttons to be in the right EQ band or get to the advanced parameters and adjust effects on the fly is kind of a nightmare unless you use the editing software on a computer or tablet. You could surround the display by knobs and have all the parameters around the edges of the screen but then the layout is the same everywhere and it gets confusing or you get the "parameter page 2" problem. As soon as you add more knobs it just adds complexity if the knobs do more than one thing.
I work on a Dlive system by allen and heath with a similar touch and turn system and it just works perfectly. We are all used to touchscreens so just tapping and the turning the same knob makes a lot of sense.
Awesome demo guys! Glad you dug the one knob compression. How'd you like the gain finder metering on the inputs? I love the guitar tuner type look. Also there a ton of channel presets that work quite well to get you close. It's all about speed! Great job Cheers!

Hello. Yes, the DM3 works great with DAWs. You can use the console's faders and buttons to control DAW operations such as volume adjustment, play and stop.
@@Gear4musicSynthsTech yes I know, but the smaller size of dm3 is so much better. TF1 is bigger and heavier. Hopefully Yamaha will add to it via firmware?

Presonus sucks on their after sales support. Not only that there is a big issue on compatibility on Presonus products exampale for their stage boxes the stage box that is produce last week is not compatible to any of the consoles being produced today that is so stupid. You don't hear any complain on Presonus because no one is using them on the markets.
same tf line software, same effects machines..., yamaha could invest a little more in updates for the brand's basic consoles. currently I think it's safer to invest in a tf1 and have fewer channels than to risk buying this new console, in the future it may be worth it
I can deal with switching from one set of tracks to another set of tracks. I don't like it, because there's always loss in immediacy, the possibility to make a mistake because someone talked to you and you don't realized you switched to another set of tracks! But the DEVIL is in the routing - the more flexible, the worse it is, really! - *has ROLAND managed to make some strides to remedy user error due to complexity* ?
Hello, the DM3 models support multi-track recording via USB to Host, as well as 2-track recording via USB memory stick. The Dante version of the DM3 also has recording capabilities using the Dante Virtual Soundcard.
@@helmanfrow Dante doesn't add inputs, Dante is a different source of input. The processing channels are still 16 mono and 1 stereo channel, same as an XR18. You can, on the other hand, use a TIO or other Dante-enabled stagebox to feed the channels from the Dante input. But it's still 16 mono, 1 stereo. 6 mono mixes, LR, 2 stereo FX returns and 2 matrices (I suppose to be linked in 1 stereo matrix). Very limited console for its budget in my opinion.
@@edoardoallertsen That's actually quite daft. If I knew that I needed a Dante stage box then why would I also pay for local IO if there's not enough processing to go 'round? Maybe it's for rental companies or contractors who sometime use local IO and sometimes Dante? Still an odd limitation on DSP. I almost can't believe it. I need to read the manual.
@@helmanfrow well the X32 has all the io at the back and still you can plug up to 48 channels via AES50 but it's still a 32 channel console. I don't know who thought of this mixer, but personally I really don't see why it exists.
I feel like all these demos are trying really hard to hide how laggy the touchscreen is. Watching him interact with it, it looked like he was afraid it was going to bite. Looks like a really cool little mixer though I’m just getting some “overpriced and under spec’ed” vibes.
I find it suspicious that the screen fades to black every time the engineer starts to change settings during sound sound check. I love Yamaha but this is just a worse version of the Yamaha TF
Hi Magic Mike we cropped some of the soundcheck to make the video a little shorter, rest assured we had absolutely no issues with this unit on the recording day!
The software is suited on bigger screens, it is too small on this screen. Easy to just click on the wrong stuff. My overall opinion: This mixer seems half done, and not done good.
You're spending so much time on FX - which is anyway the easiest thing of all on a mixer with more tracks than physical strips! WHERE are the details on channel set switching and routing, which is the hard part!
6 mono aux buses - that’s a joke in the modern world. Most bands use in ears these days, and that number of aux sends that a full band can only run them in mono
With Dante version you can expand this system with Yamaha Tio series. But I think is limited channel count in desks software because console layout only shows two fader banks channels 1-16. So it seems like same goes to outputs as well.. Do not know what the built in ethernet connection does. Hopefully you can chain two DM3 desk together and have 32 in 16 out desk. For the price it´s not impossible to do. For sure two DM3 Dante versions should be able to link together so that would give you option to have this kind of setup 32 in 16 out.

Not only that there is a big issue on compatibility on Presonus products exampale for their stage boxes the stage box that is produce last week is not compatible to any of the consoles being produced today that is so stupid. You don't hear any complain on Presonus because no one is using them on the markets.
Their AVB system barely works with windows. Only mac.

Dugan ?
Curious how it compares to the QSC TM6. Hopefully this touchscreen isn’t as laggy.
I have the touchmix 16 and I have the dm3 standard now. I'm planning on sending the touchmix back for a refund. The screen on this mixer is better
If only they hadn't put the fan on the side, I might have 2 of them stuck together to make a 32-ch board.
It would be helpful if you actually show how you connect it with the computer...
same tf line software, same effects machines..., yamaha could invest a little more in updates for the brand's basic consoles. currently I think it's safer to invest in a tf1 and have fewer channels than to risk buying this new console, in the future it may be worth it
the console sounds a lot better than a TF
😂😂😂
A small black tf series 😅
I can deal with switching from one set of tracks to another set of tracks. I don't like it, because there's always loss in immediacy, the possibility to make a mistake because someone talked to you and you don't realized you switched to another set of tracks!
But the DEVIL is in the routing - the more flexible, the worse it is, really!
- *has ROLAND managed to make some strides to remedy user error due to complexity* ?
They should've added multitrack recording
Hello, the DM3 models support multi-track recording via USB to Host, as well as 2-track recording via USB memory stick. The Dante version of the DM3 also has recording capabilities using the Dante Virtual Soundcard.
I believe it comes with DAW software.
@@Gear4musicSynthsTech I mean in standalone without a computer. Like Tascam Model 12
The problem is if I want to run stereo in-ears I need to get the Dante version and extra I/O hardware which costs as much as the console.
How is the Dante version going to expand the number of mixes this desk has? It's 6 mono mixes, it's got 8 outputs at the back, why do you need Dante?
@@edoardoallertsen Oh, only six mixes? And Dante is only good for adding inputs? That's kind of weird but okay.
92khz sampling isn't as good as 192khz, is it
I find it suspicious that the screen fades to black every time the engineer starts to change settings during sound sound check. I love Yamaha but this is just a worse version of the Yamaha TF
Hi Magic Mike we cropped some of the soundcheck to make the video a little shorter, rest assured we had absolutely no issues with this unit on the recording day!
Alhamdulillah 🇮🇩
Why should someone buy this and not something like Midas MR18? I think this mixer is 10 years behind ...
Looks like the attempt, to remove features from a X32 compact and to increase the price...
... to price of full X32
Anyone noticed the display glitching and freezing?
Not enough i/o
Sound có tốt hơn ls9
🙂👍
Only 2 FX engines is very disappointing for live sound use, maybe fixed with a later firmware update.
The software is suited on bigger screens, it is too small on this screen. Easy to just click on the wrong stuff.
My overall opinion: This mixer seems half done, and not done good.
You forgot expensive. It’s very expensive!
Dude it's $2000 and it's small format well tiny format no one will do more than that at that size besides it's Dante just send more down Dante.
I'm almost sure they will make the DM6 version that will double everything.
@@wawilisoundsolutions3067 M20X does 8 bus though
@@steakikan maybe but what you gain you loose. What does this have that, that doesn't? It's feature rich everyone wants there cake and to eat it too. All things considered including sonic quality, features and footprint what is better???? Because I want that. I want Dante and there is nothing this small with Dante I own 2 RMPD8'S can you imagine a better setup this small, I think not.
Reverb on drums , yikes
Do you not put reverb on drums?
actually reverb on Snare and Kick sounds really good
Terrible mix
