This was not in the original Broadway play. It written for the movie especially for Olivia in the movie. And it was the only song in the movie to get an Oscar nomination. Olivia was SOOO good.
So good!!! RIP
My husband is a 300 pound biker and Grease is his favorite movie …. He knows every word too the movie watches every time it comes on … he’s like a kid at Christmas when the movie is on
Grease is a lot of men's guilty pleasure.. Great movie, great soundtrack....
So sad she is gone. There wasn't a young man that wasn't in love with her in the 1970's. Such talent, beauty, strength and grace. She was the girl next door but with movie star looks and that angelic voice. Rest in peace Olivia. We will miss you always.
I know I was sprung on her.I wanted to move to Australia to find her.
@@BayAreaSon Out of curiosity, where did that term "sprung on her," come from? I've never heard that before. 🤙😎
Shoot. Born in 74 here, in love with her from the late 80's and on. Lol
Yes John Travolta made a public statement about Olivia's death immediately after she passed. RIP Olivia
John and Olivia were great friends. He reached out publicly pretty fast. I’m sure he had already spoken to the family. R.I.P. Olivia!!
John Travolta was one of the first comments I read after she passed. It was real sweet.
RIP to a remarkable woman, actress, and singer. Check out Magic and Twist of Fate. My two favourite Olivia songs :)
Those are my daughter’s 2 favorites. I think mine would be A Little More Love & I Honestly Love You.
Olivia had quite a few hits before and after Grease. "I Honestly Love You', "If Not for You", "Let Me Be There", "Have You Never Been Mellow", "Magic" and many more. Hope you'll react to some of these. Get Well Soon!
I saw her sing with Barry Gibb. It was really good. They sounded good together. You actually heard her over Barry. A lot of stars had so much great things to say about her. John Travolta had stood by her through all of her problems. They stayed close friends since Grease
i feel sorry for john.he lost his son while he was still a kid. his wife a couple of yrs ago i think to cancer now his great friend olivia.they always had a special bond from working on grease together.rip olivia a talented beautiful soul!
He also lost a girlfriend back in the 70’s to breast cancer. She literally died in his arms.
@@kentlewis987 yes that jogs a memory.so sad.
Some voices are gifts from heaven. Olivia Newton-John and Karen Carpenter are two such voices.
Such a cutie - could sing and dance. Add to that a very nice person. She had it all, and deserved it.
John Travolta and Olivia were very close, just friends, but very close. Great reaction. RIP beautiful Olivia, Hope you feel better soon Recklezz.
I loved her music glad you're aging this tribute to her
I was born in 1979. Grease came out one year before I was born. It has always been my favorite movie 🎬 she will be missed
My daughter was born in 91 and loves Grease. In fact, we went together to the movie theater when they re-released it on the 25th anniversary of the original. Great memories! She was crushed upon hearing of her passing, as was I. R.I.P. sweet Olivia Newton-John. The world just lost a bright light. 😔💔
This song was nominated for an Oscar. Beautiful Olivia. Icon.
I am 50 years old, watched the movie Grease a zillion times, played the songs a zillion times, this song hits home for me because I have liked women who didnt wanna be bothered with me and this song makes me cry basically.
Me too!
@@Sunny-jz3dy yes
At 52..Olivia was my first crush...and a zillion times later...this song that movie ..is one of the greatest musicals ever put on film.
Rico, you asked if John made a statement about Olivia's passing. Yes, he did right away. John & Olivia remained the best of friends for over 4 decades. John is no stranger to loss. His son Jett (Age 16) & wife Kelly (Age 57) both have passed away. Now, his sweet friend...
John said:
"My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better, your impact was incredible. I love you so much. We will see you down the road and we will all be together again. Yours from the first moment I saw you and forever!"
❤️ Your Danny, your John!
John's star only got brighter with Pulp Fiction, Phenomenon, Primary Colors and Wild Hogs. Yet he never passed up any reunion get-togethers with Olivia. He personally picked her for Grease. "She's the girl every guy wants to date."
Let’s not forget his losing Diana Hyland too and I believe John was 18 at the time.
So devastating for John. He lost his wife, his son and his partner in crime and best friend 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲😭😭😭😭😭
I never heard anyone say 1 bad word about Olivia. Beautiful, kind, sweet, nice, caring, animal lover, gentle and gorgeous.
Yes he did!! He and her we’re friends until the end! He loved her!
Loved her so much! Thanks for the reaction ,Rico. Especially since your sick! Feel better 💕. RIP Olivia, you were and will remain an amazing lady to me!❤️
You and your health should always come first so rest up. The people on your channel can wait! Hope you feel better soon.
I'm always impressed at how open minded you are with music. It definitely gives you a big advantage when it comes to doing reactions.
Yesterday I watched, Mr. LBoyd react to a live Oliva, much older but still beautiful, performance of this song. Her voice sounded the same!
Now she has joined that legendary band in the sky. 😌😇
Aloha 🤙😎
She was gorgeous and very very talented rest in peace Olivia 😢
My favorite movie and song of the movie.
John Travolta wrote her a very loving message on twitter. She sold over 100 million records 🙃
Hope you feel better.
My favourite song from Olivia :)
Olivia had it all. A beautiful voice, beautiful to look at and a person that everyone she came across loued her. RIP Olivia. We will miss you.
Get well soon!
RIP to Olivia. She was one-of-a-kind.
Grease is my favourite musical movie 🎬 🎞 🎥 🎦 📽
Yes he was a very wonderful up spoken woman very strong woman
The real Beautiful song...Olivia is the best angel...
That face! That voice! What an icon! We all loved her sooooooooooo much!
The impact of the movie Grease on American Pop Culture ( and worldwide) is immeasurable.
Olivia's career dates back to the early 70's ( she was already a pretty big singing talent in country and pop music ) but her career skyrocketed with her role in the movie. Following that role she continued into the early 80s with massive chart topping success.
But more than just her beautiful voice, music and iconic movie role, she was more importantly a better human being. A ray of light , with poise and grace that shined through her natural beauty. She was a humanitarian and gave her time and money selflessly towards breast cancer and a foundation she started on her behalf while battling the disease.
Olivia was a bright light and beacon of hope in an ever changing world that is/was and can be dark.
She was the first crush for many young boys, the desire of millions of men. Young girls and women wanted to be like her and the entire world ....truly loved her.
She was an absolute angel here on earth and was called home way too soon.
Broken-hearted and terribly saddened by her passing but knowing she is at peace.
Olivia Newton John is now a legend and forever an angel too all. ❤️
Thank you so much for the kind words towards this sweet amazing woman! Rest in Heaven, Olivia! I'm excited for you as you discover her different styles and looks throughout the years in her outstanding career! When you have time (don't overdo, get feeling better) but when you have time, consider reacting to "Twist of Fate", "Xanadu", "Magic" and "A Little More Love". There are many, many others but won't inundate you at this time. :)
Thanks for this tribute reaction, it's really appreciated. As you may already know, we've had 2 big shocks & heartbreaks in Oz [Australia] within the past week, with the loss of Judith Durham on the 5th Aug & Olivia Newton John yesterday 9th Aug. As mentioned below John Travolta has left a tribute to her, as have many people globally who knew her. If you want to know a bit about Olivia’s journey, here's a link worth watching ruclips.net/video/91pBZdSGVGc/видео.html
These 2 beautiful iconic Aussie women in the music industry will be sorely missed in Oz. I feel so blessed to have grown up with their music & I hope other generations will be also. RIP Judith & Olivia & thankyou for gifting the world with both your positive, joyful & blessed musical contributions xx
There's no one like Olivia.
Life with Recklezz....I have to tell you that Olivia was the first celebrity I ever idolized. I was about 7 years old and after Grease I loved her. My parents bought me many of her albums and I was hooked on all of her music. Growing up I got into so many other music styles but always loved her. I am 48 now and when I heard that she passed away I was kind of passive about it, I think maybe the shock of it. When I just watched this video you did the tears finally flowed. Thank you for that cause it was needed xo
❤❤❤
I like her voice in this one hopelessly devoted to you
This song is one of those loved by many…and has lasted for so many years. RIP Olivia..you will be missed but never forgotten❤️
Yeah I think he put a lovely post on Twitter about her xx
I want to thank you Recklezz for such an amazing tribute to Olivia Newton-John. She will be truly missed. To an awesome artist who's light went out way too soon.
R.I.P. Olivia Newton John.😢
Great call covering this timeless gem.
This was a Great song from Olivia one of her best by Far!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Always makes me cry Not for myself but for her.And it's only a Film! That's Talent
Thank you for this one. ✌️
This was my favorite from the movie!! She was so beautiful inside and out. ❤️❤️❤️
One of my favorites love the movie classic 💯 "Hope you feel better my brother 🙏🙏🙏"
you will have a difficult moment, the death of the very beloved singer Olivia Newton John, who fought with great dignity for many years with a serious illness
I was lucky enough to see this movie "Grease"
(1978) at the time (I was 20/21 years old)
initially born from the success saga of Travolta and the BeeGees with "Saturday Night Fever" from 1977, finally "Grease" had its own flight and has been an extraordinary musical success
both singles from the Travolta-Newton John duo were #1 worldwide
"Hopeslly devoted to You" is a soft and beautiful ballad that allows Olivia to shine with a magnificent interpretation.
the video is a scene from the movie
Sandy (Olivia's character) is at a 'girls' night out' after a run-in with Danny (Travolta's character)
the song fits perfectly with all the movie and its moment in the beginning
Olivia and John were close friends over the years They met again several times, and also for movie anniversaries
I leave you this link
Olivia and John singing together live after more than 30 years the biggest worldwide hit 1978:
"You're the one that I want"

Olivia also had a special friendship with the brunette Frida Lyngstad (from the Swedish ABBA)
Olivia represents the UK at Eurovision 1974, the year ABBA win with their smash hit "Waterloo"
in 1978 Olivia does a TV special and invites ABBA and Andy Gibb (the younger brother of the Bee Gees) and the six of them sing together live
In that 1978 TV special They performed live your singles worlwide hits:
Olivia: "Hopeleslly devoted to You"
Andy: "Shadow Dancing"
ABBA" "Take a chance on me"
In 1979 Olivia is one of those invited by Bee Gees to participate in the Concert for UNICEF, singing a song and doing a duet with Andy Gibb
(that night BeeGees sang their hit "Too much heaven" and ABBA premieres their future hit "Chiquitita")
Thanks so much for these reaction and homenage to the dearest Olivia Newton John
GOD bless you
My best regards from
Buenos Aires Argentina
P.S.: apart Olivia Newton John
you could do a reaction to
Andy Gibb and ABBA songs
of these TV special
Hope you feel better. Great reaction.
She sings with our John Farnham Please Don't Ask Me LIVE their chemistry is wonderful together. You can see how much she was loved by so many people.
She had that rare ability to make it seem so easy but if you analyze it’s obvious what a great range she had.
I've loved her since I was a teenager in the seventies...may she rest in peace...I adore your reactions...
John Travolta did reach out and make a statement to her family. Remained friends over the tears!
Thank you for doing this, so, so much, Olivia had the pipes, girl could sing, even with through all the wild, new wave, punk techno 80's, she was right there, she had steam, and was breaking through,..I swear, by the time the 80's came, there couldn't have been no one on the planet who hadn't experienced Grease,..she, excuse the cliché, and it speaks true here, truly, Olivia became a household name, even my parents, who weren't really in tune to the current at that time, really, really liked her,..it's few artists of that time that they knew, you know for them, you really had to stand out, show them something, Stephanie Mills, The Ojays, Gerald Levert, AL Green, Tom Jones, another one who stayed prominent after storming us two decades before the 80's,..so many I can't remember, ( Paul Young, mom so liked him, "Every Time You Go Away")that even my parents stopped in their tracks, Olivia was among them, for my parents, who grew up with and lived with in their teenage and young adult years, Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, Billy Holiday, Sarah Vaughn, Dinah Washington, Mariam Anderson, Aretha, you had to be really, really, really good, I can say in that time period my parents and I were on the same frequency 🥲,..and look at all the talent coming out of Australia, Olivia, Helen Reddy, ACDC, Billy Thorpe,..INXS, isn't that something!, Olivia was, and will always be a jewel,..do keep going,..delve into her music,..that voice,..Rip Olivia,....and Godspeed, to you may you recover and heal well, stay well we love your reactions, Peace ✌
great lady
R I P Olivia,Thanks for doing this and get better.
I had this soundtrack on 8 track in the 70's and immediately fell in love with Olivia. I love the appreciation!
Strong and beautiful voice....handled many genres. RIP
Thankyou for bothering when yr not well xx
i cried! because she meant so much to me! i grew up listening to her!
The live performance of this song is the best. She is forever in our hearts.
React to Magic, Xanadu, A little more love…. Loved her- get well!
Love her & loved 'Grease'. This was how her character started out... innocent & sweet & the video you watched 'You're the one that I want' was her trying to get John's greaser character to want her. He did the opposite & got a Lettermans sweater. LOL Sweet, fun movie. Olivia is amazing! Check out her song 'Physical'. Big fun hit for her.
Grease is one of my all time favorite movies!! RIP Olivia Newton John 😞❤
Amazing talent, great human being, RIP!
The Bee Gees wrote music for this movie
Barry Gibb only wrote the title song "Grease" for this movie.
Rip Olivia, you will be missed on so many levels.
Olivia was my first crush. I was only like 10-11. She had such a beautiful smile and from then on, I always would always compare her smile with every girl. I was sad to hear that the cancer had returned for the 3rd time back in 2018. May she Rest In Peace.
She did a few television shows with the BeeGees. The BeeGees also wrote the theme song “Grease” for Frankie Valli.
She fought breast cancer for decades. She seems impossibly sweet. She sure had an amazing voice.
She was in the movie Grease 1 and Xanadu. She did her own music 🎶 .she fought for 30. Years with her breast cancer and opened her own hospital. RIP 🙏
Travolta put out a tweet “My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better. Your impact was incredible. I love you so much. We will see you down the road and we will all be together again. Yours from the first moment I saw you and forever!
Your Danny, your John!”
In Australia we have also just lost Indigenous singer Archie Roach and a favourite singer of this Country's Judith Durham of the Seekers - they were one of the first artists to get world wide recognition of Australian talent..........well worth a look if you haven't.
As a 9 year old kid, I remember loving that version of Sandy and being disappointed that she changed at the end. Such a fun loving sweetheart and these video reactions are helping to say goodbye but never forgotten. We love you, Olivia Newton John 🙏
Love you for doing this reaction. RIP Olivia. Icon.
RiP Olivia, god bless you!!!!
RIP Olivia ❤️❤️❤️❤️
RIP 🙏. She was a beautiful person, singer & actress! She fought cancer for a long time!
My very first crush.
Remember going to Drive in with parents to see this....on a hot summer night.
She holds a special place in my heart, along with Julie Andrews. Both are iconic in my book.
She has a beautiful voice
Olivia was already a star in the music business, winning 1975 Grammy for Record Of The Year
with "I Love you, I honestly love You" with her producer John Farrar.
After Olivia's performance in this movie "Grease"
Every girl wanted to be her, and every boy wanted to be with her.
Here is Hugh Jackman talking about meeting his celebrity crush "Sandy from Grease"
ruclips.net/video/vXeSi5RjowU/видео.html
John Farrar , wrote "Hopelessly Devoted To You" , "You're The One That I Want" from Grease
and "Magic" & "Suddenly" from the movie Xanadu
"Every girl wanted to be her, and every boy wanted to be with her." I think Travolta said that when he was recommending Olivia for Grease.
@@debjorgo just found this video, every girl wanted to be her, even if that girl grew up and became a Super Star in her own right.

This giant Olivia, will be remembered more for her cancer advocacy, and ensuring public patients, receive Rolls Royce First Class treatment and care. Truly a giant she was 👍
RIP...thanks again m'man...
Hi,
Hearing this song I just want to cry for her lost. It is so sad!!
Her voice in this song is So perfect!! perfect and beautiful.
Please, you have to react to "Xanadu". The 80's classic from Olivia featuring the Electric Light Orchestra. Was one of the biggest hits ever by the both of them, Olivia and the ELO.
ON-J did a lot of duets also with the Bee Gees members as Barry Gibb and Andy Gibb.
RIP Olivia NJ. She was singing in Chile just a couple of years ago in the Viña del Mar festival.
Regards from Chile!
OMG, I can't believe it. She was my favorite artist when I was a teenager and this song, drove my Mom nuts 🤣🤣. She was so annoyed cause when I got home from school this would be playing loud in my room while I took a shower and while I was studying for a test but She finally gave up bought a set of headphones 🤣🤣, which I was happy about cause that meant I could listen to Prince. I had his record " I wanna be your lover" and when you flipped the record over on its B side, "Soft and Wet"
John tea lots was one of the first to say something. Real touching tribute. They worked together many times and were realy close friends
Very sad loss in the universe such a beautiful soul and beautiful woman
Sorry to hear that your not feeling so hot. Feel better soon.
Olivia has a beautiful voice indeed.
I also like her earlier country inspired songs like 'Let Me Be There'.
She did a duet with John Denver called 'Fly Away' that I really like.
I love Olivia RIp, Take care of yourself Reckless love your channel!
I wore this album out when I was a kid! This song had a scratch so even now when I hear it, I hear the part that scratched in my head too! Lololol 🤣
RIP ONJ 🙏 🕊 🌹
Love the records on on the wall. I was literally sitting with an ONJ CD in front of me when my brother texted me she passed.
Gave me the chills
Yes u r so rite sir
This song is so catchy!! Lovely Australian voice.
Don’t push yourself hun! REST!!
John Travolta left a beautiful tribute to her. You should read it. It is getting so hard now we are losing a lot artists that I grew up listening to. One of my fav song By ONJ is Let me be there. Rip Olivia. Condolences to her friends and family. She fought the good fight.
All the singers with the clearest vocals are gone from us one by one, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, George Michael, now Olivia Newton John. RIP Olivia, u represented an era where music is simple, lyrics are clean and meaningful, artiste dont need to depend on autotune and just pure talent.
