Mark, great video. Congrats on 171!!!! Personally, when I want a new driver I wait until the all the new stuff is out and last years or even the 2-year old models which are still available brand new in the plastic get deeply discounted. For what ever reason Srixon, Mizuno, Cleveland and especially Tour Edge, their previous year models are often more than 1/2 off the price even when still brand new in the plastic. For example a Srixon Golf ZX5 LS MKII Driver, brand new in the plastic can now be had for $175 to $200 USD. This is with all the shaft options still available. So, when I see a club I like I put a note with the driver and the specs I want on my electronic calendar to check back in a year or two and see how inexpensively I can get it. Granted it's like you are living 2 years in the past, but its a great way to save a lot of money on clubs.
Same thinking for me. I got the '21 ZX5 in '23 for $190 shipped and would love to "steal" the ZXi in a couple of years if I'm still vertical. Would I also love a Cobra DS Adapt, Ping G440 or TN Qi 35? Of course, but Srixon, Mizuno, Wilson and even Tour Edge are where the bargains will be (Cobra, too, unless the DS Adapt stays up there longer). Oh, to be a famous RUclips pro and get to play with all these wonderful playthings...
Excellent advice excellent. As I needed a driver that gives me all the help it could possibly give me, I actually got a Wilson Launchpad 2 driver that was close to $400 new, still in the plastic wrapper for about $125 US. It was a year and a half old but with Wilson pivoting to the Dynapower products at cratered in price and I just smiled as I said thank you. Love My driver, is helping me hit fairways even though I still can't hit very long. Keeping an eye on what you want until it gets to be an older model it's the way to go for cell phones, TVs, and golf equipment.
Love the ending! Congrats on the 171! I may give the Max a test drive. Planning to go through a fitting for the irons. Thanks for very informative, concise content. Keep up the good work!
I'm a huge Srixon fan, love thier gear and put my money whete my mouth is on that with a full Srixon bag! Really looking forward to trying these but i am surprised at the cost. Whilst their tech and performance absolutely backs it up, part of the appeal was always that you felt it was such good performance for the money and not inflated prices like the "bigger" brands.
I currently play the Srixon ZX5 LS 10.5 with the HZRDUS Black shaft. Absolutely love it. Can't wait to get my hands on the new LS. I love the sound, the looks, and the performance. I have tried most of the drivers over the last 30 years and Srixon is a top performer for me. Ping is close second. Used to like TaylorMade but really hate carbon face drivers now. Love the feel and build quality of Titleist but they seem slightly harder to hit for me. Srixon rocks. Been on the fence about dumping my TM P790's and moving into Srixon irons. ZXi5 sitting right on the fence.
Just want to say love how many likes and replies there are from you in the comments mate particularly the sarcastic ones 😮. Keep up the good work great review
Well done sir on that Ball speed!! 😲. I'll be testing these when I go for a club fitting a couple of months. Irons look shmick and generally a little cheaper than the 'big brands'.
I know you'd correctly say "get fit" regarding which is best in any club category But at times i wish you weren't sponsored so you could tell us G440 max was better or not etc. Don't get me wrong, for someone who is sponsored you dance around it very well and your content is A+ It's just not everyone can get fit so the rack buyers rely on others comparing apples.
I would say no difference between the two for numbers if you deliver them the same. None at all. Buy Srixon for sure. But remember I am not fussed what one you get as long as I can help with good info. 👍👍 The Ping is a great driver
I’m really brand agnostic when it comes to drivers. I go to the same excellent place to get fitted and what works the best with head and shaft combination is the one I go with. (Not very often I might add - still playing Rogue ST Max with Tour AD XC shaft from 3 years ago) Point being, if it’s Srixon then I’d buy it without a second hesitation. Srixon have huge bag appeal imo. If I had to, I’d have a full bag of them and nobody would turn their nose up at them.
Srixon are an underrated brand. There aren’t many who reviews this brand, you don’t see Rick or Pete finch review srixon. I love their irons and Cleveland wedges. I want to try srixon driver
Great looking drivers amongst the very best looking this year and definitely very underrated. If the performance matches or beats the equivalent from Ping, Titleist, TM & Callaway then I have no problem with them being priced in the same range as those although I think Srixon would do better to have them £100 cheaper. Really like the look of Mark's Penguin jumper as well
Man listen, I got a ZX5 MKII LS as a throw in piece for a Ping driver I had. Basically in new condition. Gamed it all year last year, and it's easily one of the very best drivers I have ever used. If these perform better than that, I will absolutely game it in 2025.
@@MarkCrossfield No doubt. I had never played one, or really even swung a Srixon driver. And after getting it, I just though "What the hell" and decided to swing it. I knew I could just trade it away if I didn't like it or it didn't work for me. Started with a HZRDUS Black gen 4, and eventually put in a Tour AD HD-6 I had from that Ping I traded away, and that thing absolutely came alive! It's sneaky long, and one of, if not the most consistent drivers I've ever used. Absolutely Love it! BTW - Love the channel Mark! Keep it up, brother!
I've gamed the following drivers, in this order: z765, z785, zx5-LS. I will be moving to a different brand when it's time to move on from the zx5-LS. If they were $100 cheaper than the big brands, I'd look at them, but they've out-priced themselves in my opinion.
Issue is it's probably as good as the taylormade/callaway but the depreciation after 1 year on the second hand market you'll be lucky to get back £150 compared to 250 or 300 with the bigger brands.
I do wish some of the companies would look at moving away from black either Matt or gloss finish. Just been to the range with a friend and he has a TM from about 20 years ago with a lovely red colour for the head. Reminds me of real wooden clubs
I don't buy anything new in golf but I like the looks of these. Like the max the most. The letters and numbers confuse me from this brand and probably wouldn't pay as much from Srizon as one of the big 4
Awesome on the 171 :D ! Nice video! An unrelated question regarding another video: Las Colinas special from aprox. 7 years ago. Did you play there in july? Me and some mates have booked a tee time mid july and was wondering if it is 'playable' in the heat?
Knowing Srixon I’d just wait for a price drop/ get it used for under $300 in about a year if a test fitting proved to me it was worth the upgrade for me. I’m happy with my MK II LS driver from them for the foreseeable future, so not likely to bite on any price for this gen.
Bring your ear plugs. Even in my retailer the employees get annoyed when someone asks to test the new ZX drivers. One guy was hiding the demo heads. GO check out Hannah's review
Good video again Mark. Would love a new diver as got F9 so may try and get fitted this year. What's your swing speed these days after hitting these bombs?
171 is damn right worth a like! To be honest I'd be better off spending 600 EUR on driver lessons to win an extra 6-10 yards or so with my still fairly recent ST-X 230.
Good video Mark, they are very good drivers BUT coming from a company that is not in the top four the pricing needs to be significantly less than the other brands in order to sway people to want to purchase them. They are pricing themselves up too close to other manufacturers. The same as happening with Wilson. The new stuff isn’t any better, and seriously if you go back to 2018 to 2021 the drivers were just as long even longer for distance and the dispersion was so close. It is like splitting hairs. Distance has come very little by most companies… some of the other drivers from 3 to 8 years ago perform better. And you can save your money for playing the game.
I love Srixon clubs, I am a mid handicapper and have the Z745 irons which are amazing, just got the ZX Mkii 3 and 7 wood which out performed everything from other brands, it took a lot to wrench my Ping G400 3 wood out of the bag but the Srixon smashed it, I do find it mad that no matter how many people I recommend Srixon to they shrug it off don't try them and buy something from Callaway or Taylormade 🙄
I am shocked Srixon has set the price point this high. I thought they would stick lower. Interesting. Curious what it will be in Canada. Premium brands are $950 plus tax here.
Nuts price. Really can't understand this price point for a Srixon driver at this point in time. Needs to be at least £150 cheaper, at least in the USA and European markets.
That's what was so enticing for the MK II's, they were so cheap 8 months after release. Don't sound great, but the performance is undeniable. Got my ZX5 MK ii LS for $298 8 months after release...I'll hold off on these until the summer
Agree. In Asia they will sell. But in North America and Europe, you would think they would be more strategic with their pricing? I have never tried a Srixon driver, but I will do so this year. And then I would pick one up used in a year or two if it works that well for me…. 👍🤷♂️
I only started playing a bit over a year ago and got a ZX Mk II driver almost exactly a year ago. Absolutely love it and it has really helped me to improve but the head cracked on it after about 6 months. Srixon were great and replaced it no problem. Has anyone else here had this sort of issue with Srixon clubs?
If you use hard range balls(non branded golf ball) especially if it’s cold Drivers and Utility irons are prone to cracking, that’s nearly every brand that has that problem.
