I have been born and raised in California and I still have hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of things that I wanna go see
I agree. I wasn't born here--I moved here 8.5 years ago, and there is so much that I haven't seen yet.
I’ve lived in California (first, San Diego, and now San Jose) for 27 years now. I can’t agree with you more that there’s so much to explore and discover in this 5th largest economy in the world. I’m also a lover of Small Town USA, so to speak, and when I’m able to escape the hustle and bustle of big-city life, I try to spend a weekend getaway in some small town and go where the locals go. It’s fun!
Thats a great suggestion. There are so many great small towns to explore in CA as well!
Can’t wait to go after this quarantine
Hoesay yes!!!!
Agreed!
Same. Been too long
John Griswold stay strong king you got this bro don’t give up
Tip #3 is a very important one! Dress in layers when you visit the SF Bay Area in the summer!! Or, I predict you will be purchasing a souvenir hoody!! 🤣
I live in California and completely agree. So much to do and see that I still finding new things to see all the time and feel like I never spend enough time on any of the trips I go on. Thanks for adding to my list of places to see and keep up the good work
I love your RUclips channel, you make me want to go to california, I live in Ecuador and I have a terrible job, but for God's sake I want to go to California.
You two are great.
Thanks so much for the comment and for watching the channel! I hope you can make it to California one of these days!
These videos are so awesome, even if you've been to California (3x for me). I really enjoyed the not so "fabulous" parts, Salton Sea, Mojave National Preserve, and Death Valley. Exploring the remote areas feels so great, especially after having spent a couple of days in touristy areas like LA or Las Vegas.
Can't wait to come back!
Hell, I live here and I can't wait to visit😂😂😂
Hey I'm not much of someone who comments on videos. But I just wanted to tell you both how much I appreciate your videos as I am a wanderlust myself but there's a lot that I've learned from you guys. A thought occurred to me while watching your videos and I checked. I was hoping you would put in CC for like Japanese, Korean, etc. I understand travel is difficult because of Covid 19 but I thought how useful your videos would be with CC so others can enjoy it either vicariously or experiencing it themselves one day. Being Asian American I already appreciate your videos but I wonder how much more you can share your experience with others that aren't from America but want to experience it one day. Your straight to the point and quick summary is what I love compared to other travel video. And I live in Norcal and just subscribed after several months of watching. Hopefully you can do a meet and greet or a group hike/ adventure. That would be so fantastic. Appreciate all you do. Keep up the good work and supporting you both from Norcal. 💜
Really enjoy y’all videos! Awesome information and extremely useful tips.
Always enjoy your videos. I have learned a lot from watching y’all. Planning a PCH trip with my family this summer 😊
That is awesome! I love PCH so much and I hope you do too!
Great tips to keep in mind for our upcoming trip, thank you!
Love your videos!!! Binge watched them with my dad!
Thats so awesome, thanks for the support!
Thank you for the information and advice about California ♥️ I’m comming soon & dreaming about it every single day 🥰 So many mountains 🏔 I already know it will be a hard place to leave & will I cry 😢
Love your video guides. I found them last year while preparing to visit L.A now I'm back getting ready for another visit (hopefully) later this year. Got our flights and hotels booked and car hired. If covid-19 stops us we will be sure to rearrange for 2021.
I really love a ride a long the coast! Like you said, we could enjoy the kitesurfer along the way as well! Pleasing of donut, I would like to recommend you All Star Donuts( Clement St) if you visit San Francisco!
GREAT!! I'm so far behind on my CA Lens videos, love the content and love your content. Keep up the great work!
Awesome! Thank you! I haven't put anything up in a few weeks so you probably don't have too much to catch up on haha
I lived in Monterey, California for a year & half in my younger days and come back to visit mostly the northern/central coast pretty regularly. Thought you had some great tips. Also - happy to see that Amy is a friend of Smokey.
Thanks for the comment. I love the Monterey area as well, such a beautiful part of CA.
Thank You for these tips... Was looking for something exactly like this... Love to do the motorcycle cruise up the PCH..Thank You
Great video! spread the cali love. ✌️
Great tips!! thanks for sharing ,.
I planned a trip to Cambria for this year's Spring Break after seeing your guys' video on it, but unfortunately it had to be cancelled because of the pandemic. Can't wait for this to be all over so I can make that trip happen 🙏
Thats a bummer! You will love it when you get a chance to visit though!
By June we will be welcoming people back. Enjoyed the vid 👍🏻
I hope so!
California Through My Lens as well do I ✌️
thanks for the info! Me and my friends are planning a longer trip (around 2 months) to California and im really looking forward to it! :D
Was supposed to do a weekend in LA on March 14 right when everything got shut down. Great timing
Bummer, yea so much stuff got cancelled. I hope you are able to get there in the future.
So many good tips! I also make travel videos and can't wait to make it back out again once all this is over! Great vid as always guys!
Thanks for the comment, I will have to check out your channel!
Hi guys, thx for this video , can't wait to visit again...
Our pleasure!
Im from Germany and I can´t wait to visit california one day and drive down the Highway 1 with a Ford Mustang😍
I think so 🙋🏻♀️
Great points across the board! Now I want to travel lol!
Great tips, thanks for sharing!
You bet! Thanks for watching!
A spectacular video as always! You guys do a really good job!
Thank you so much 🤗
@@californiathroughmylens, you are very welcome!
4K is AMAZING!!
Wish you do a video on how far it is reasonable based upon a few good stop offs to go up PCH from LA in one day or perhaps two preferably on a weekday. Also interesting to see what you both buy or collect from the many CA spots you visit.
I went to the library in 1987 before going to Disneyworld in Florida and checked out a book called "Tips for doing Disneyworld". There were some good time saving suggestions in there. Give it a try.
I think you did good. I would also recommend they use waze or another traffic app to prepare how to cope with traffic and find routes that perhaps avoid tolls in and around SF if they don’t intend to visit the Bay Area. But yes In and Out and Mexican foods are a must. And good idea about the national park pass if they intend to visit our many wonderful national parks and monuments which are well worth the trip. Keep up the good work. I’m sure you are itching to travel again once this corona virus is done.
Thanks for the suggestions, Waze is a great one! Yea, I am itching to get out as I am sure everyone is right now. Hopefully soon.
Really enjoy your videos! Do you think they will extend park passes at all? We got a year pass before the lockdown and of course haven't used it as much as we wanted
Hi Amy and Josh.
Great tips for planning a trip.
Thanks for the share. ~Lucy
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for stopping by and for the comment!
Yay for Quarantine Hairdos
haha, Amie takes her hair seriously! Me, I have just been growing out a beard haha.
You beat me to this.
This video gave me such a huge sigh of {semi} relief realizing it is possible to plan a trip to more than one part.
My fiancée and i are planning a honeymoon to California. I’ve always wanted to visit, it’s the most interesting state to me because of how different the entire state is as you progress throughout it.
We’re from Delaware, so we kind of have to fit everything into a 1 week trip, but with still adhering to the “don’t cram” mindset by just limiting the things we go to see.
We know what we want to do, but logistically and financially we’re stressing about how to plan where to stay in coordination with what we want to do.
If at all possible, would you guys be willing to answer a few questions for us? 😅
Citi Pass is a must for visiting Toronto too, saves time & money.
Great suggestion. I agree, if you are doing multiple museums and stuff it makes a big difference.
Fantastic video! We'll (hopefully) be visiting in mid-September. We'll be visiting the northern part of the state, however, finalizing an itinerary has proven tricky, and I'm hoping you can help. We have 10 days, and we're avid hikers, so Yosemite is a must (3-4 nights) - we were lucky enough to secure Half Dome permits. We have a cabin in Curry Village the night prior to the hike. In addition to Yosemite, we'd like to spend a few nights in Sonoma and enough time in SF to see Alcatraz (a day should suffice). In your opinion, is there anything else you would try to fit in? Like Pinnacles NP, Kings Canyon NP, or Monterey/Big Sur? I'd like to see as much as we can, without making it a checklist trip. I appreciate any input you can offer my way. Thanks!
I hope that everything is good out there (as much as is possible). I saw some videos of a RUclipsr that files his helicopter over the LA area. It's really odd seeing unjammed freeways and the theme parks empty. Looking forward to getting back to normal.
I hope you are doing well also! I am looking forward to getting back to normal as well.
These are great tips! Love In 'n' Out burger -- I have several pounds on my hips that I came directly from those delicious burgers, fries & sodas!
If you live and felt you missed the Mac Donalds experience if it wasn't taken over, then go to In and Out, they have not changed in 50 years
Keep up the good work guys. I know the Covid19 has kinda put a damper on 2020. But, when we get out of it, may i suggest visiting Monterey, Carmel, Pebble Beach, Big Sur area. So, years ago i was in Monterey and one day drove to pebble beach and south to Big Sur. I found it to be amazingly beautiful. But, i havent found any videos on youtube that really capture the beauty of the area. So, just thought id share a area you guys might like visiting.
Great suggestion! I love that area and I would love to go up and make a video there. I have one on Big Sur but not the rest of the area.
Hey guys, good to see you. Hopefully we won't have much longer to wait out this quarantine. Hello from Michigan. 👍
Hello there! Hope you are doing will in Michigan!
Hello Guys. Thank you so much. Very helpfull. I've 3 weeks. is the mobile signal relaible on the pacific coast highway? I mean would be able to use google map?
You guys should mention around how much of a budget people need to make decent trip to all the places you guys mentioned, including gas, hotels and food. I understand the budget will be all over the place depending on what you eat and where you stay, however a good idea will be nice :P.
Love your channel I have done maybe 40% of what you guys done all by myself, it is difficult when driving alone lol
I would also suggest not going to Disneyland during the week of any holiday if you want to avoid big crowds, go the week before or after. Also, any time schools are out for breaks.
When I plan my families trips to Disneyland and Universal Studios I plan around those times.
For our Disneyland trip in 2018, we went the week before Thanksgiving and the crowd wasn't bad at all. Our last day there was the Friday before Thanksgiving week and there was lots more people.
We also went to Universal Studios on a Monday at the end of June in 2018 and it wasn't too busy. By evening time, a couple hours before they closed, there was hardly anyone there. There was little to no lines for rides.
BTW, I live in Northern California, right in between Sacramento and San Francisco. I grew up in the area and still discovering so many neat spots in and around San Francisco. There's so much to see. Lots of cool history too. I've made a couple videos.
Josh and Amy I hope you don’t mind me saying you guys look very well rested and this video lotta great information maybe will see you somewhere
We have been home for about a month and a half now so I hope we are rested haha. Thanks for watching the video!
Hi Josh, so we will be making a trip to Sacramento area in a week. Where would you recommend to see best in Lake Tahoe in one day🙂
Great video. What is the tip %? and do you need to leave the tip as cash (preferred in many European Countries) or is on the card ok?
wow California
You two are adorable.
What is the venue in SF at 5:30 with a patio with a view of the Golden Gate Bridge?
Will say after visiting la in September I stayed with a friend who had a car, it was so vital saw a lot more then I would of on foot. But Uber is stupidly cheap out there, paid £20 for a £80 ride in the U.K. lol (same distance)
Yea, it is hard without a car for sure. I didn't know the cost with Uber was so much less!
HI AND GOOD AFTERNOON TO BOTH OF YOU, I ENJOY WATCHING YOUR VLOGG, THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PLACE ON EARTH CALIFORNIA, THIS IS REALLY MY DREAM TO COME IN CALIFORNIA IT IS VERY NICE PLACE
Yay! Splash Cafe' made the list!
Definitely agree with the taking time along Big Sur. There are pull-offs every couple of miles, and I usually stop to get several pictures from all of them.
Vacationing in Cali really does need to get broken up into different areas.
SoCal
SLO Cal/Big Sur
Sequoia/Yosemite/Tahoe
Bay Area/Wine Country
NorCal/Redwoods
Highway 395
and even most of those are kind of overwhelming individually! Too much to see!
The only part of Cali that doesn't get a lot of love is the northeast section. Modoc Plateau.
I love Splash Cafe so much! I agree, I usually take an entire day to drive Big Sur. Appreciate your tips, those are great ways to break up the state. I love the Mendocino area which doesn't seem to get as many visitors as well.
That is true, besides Fort Bragg, it is a very sparsely populated part of the coast.Willie Nelson even had that song called Mendocino County Line!
It has Glass Beach, Pygmy Forest, Candelabra Redwoods., and most of the Lost Coast! Maybe it is for the best if it remains a hidden gem.
Are state and national parks open in Cali? Any word on when they will be?
My friend and I are planning to go after quarentine. I’ve always wanted to go to Disneyland and take my picture next to the hollywood walk of fame
I'm going to Cali.🤳🏾California Love❤🥂
L A tip - KNX 1070 radio AM, LA traffic on the 'fives'
I’m going to LA during quarantine. Any advice for me on what I can do? Are parks open? Hikes? Beaches? Any recommendations on where I can still go? Let me know! Thank you
Can you guys talk about halal food in California especially LA
I'd like to see a trip on the gold country.
Beaches in Southern California can be cool , foggy and overcast in the summer but go 10 miles inland it can be 15-20 degrees hotter. I live on the coast in Dana Point, California. Surprised you left off some beautiful beaches in South Orange County, Laguna Beach, Dana Point, San Clemente....
That is a great suggestion!
I want to go so bad because there’s so much to see and do. Can’t find anyone to go with me and I don’t feel comfortable going alone but I’m hoping a family member or friend will decide to go so I can visit LA and the Mojave next spring for the first time
Looking beautiful amy.
Minni Mouse hair is GREAT!
I'll let Amie know!
Where is this at 🥺🥺🥺 @1:02
That is McWay Falls in Big Sur
@@californiathroughmylens I think it is Pfeiffer Beach State Park...
i asked the same !! that waterfall :) ;0
Pls suggest a plan for doing a PCH trip. Thanks
I have a seven day itinerary on the website but I hope to make a video sometime in the future.
California Through My Lens thanks!! Will check it out. Stay safe and healthy!
Where's the love for Fresno?
I haven't spent much time there but it is on the list to do this year hopefully.
"Nobody goes to Fresno for a vacation"
ruclips.net/video/WB3FNpMmKWk/видео.html
Fresno has a larger population than the largest city in a majority of the states. *Somebody* must like it.
3:41 and 6:21. Where are these places?
it would be really nice if you mark the shots, what are the names.
I use spothero app to find cheap parking spots in and around San Francisco
👍🏼
you didn't even cover off roading out in some of the open land off the 395 you gonna do a video of randsburg Ca go up the 395 ( randsburg 1) make the left old mining own trust me check it out
Would be awesome to do an off roading video for sure!
@@californiathroughmylens go out off the 395 once you get past victorville make sure your vehicle is in good running shape it's not far just out in the desert
stark
I would not recommend Boudin. The soup is inconsistent and can get a chalky consistency. Their bread is really good though. It's all about Hog Island Oyster Company. The best clam chowder in the entire San Francisco Bay Area. It is worth the long wait in line.
Disneyland is always crowded. 365 days a year. The days when you could get a less crowded day on a weekday are gone. Always plan to deal with crowds, and know going in that you probably won't get to do everything in one day. Take it easy so you don't get over stressed out. Oh yeah, and food is expensive.
What lake is that at 2:04?
DJPelio Eagle lake in Lake Tahoe
California Through My Lens thanks. Any idea if the trails out there are open?
am i the only one who's here to ask about Amy's hair style? Any RUclips tutorials on this particular one?
cause that’s what i’m doing... planning a trip to california during a pandemic.
Kentucky Hiker ...I am.
Thanks for getting out of bed Josh
It's hard haha!
Please let your beard grow, Josh.
Been growing it for the last two months but not sure how long I can let it go haha
Why is it I always see so much negative rep and hate on California. I get the bad politics but it's still a beautiful state.
You mentioned one of the reasons. The coastal areas of California lean left politically, so there are always those that lean right with serpent's tongues. The other reason is that it has become a center of high paying industries. Many who don't have qualifications to work in them find themselves priced out of housing. So there are reasons why some are bitter.
The state that gets the highest number of people leaving California is Texas, and the state that gets the highest number of people leaving Texas is California. It's complicated.
You guys remind me of Drew Barrymore & Adam Sandler. Lol
Please tell me I'm not the only one!
🤙🏼
haha Amie has been compared to Drew Barrymore many times but I am not sure anyone has ever called me Adam Sandler haha
I get your reading from a script but you sound so robotic
haha, still getting used to the teleprompter. This was the first attempt
The smiles make me very uncomfortable
tips for visiting california........Dont ! covid wont be gone until next year
