I like the kitchen. The color is perfect. The skirt on the coffee stand doesn’t really seem like it works in the space.
True. I would have put a matching small cupboard there
Maybe add a little Cafe style curtain in same fabric as the microwave cabinet to tie it together..I love everything you all have done, it is all gorgeous!
I actually was thinking how much I love the coffee skirt fabric. Easy enough to change out often as it adds a huge statement in there. But that stripe makes the kitchen feel very comforting and homey to me.
I love the colour of your kitchen with the brass details , it's gorgeous. I can't remember what colour was here previously but this one is just perfect and it feels like it's always been there . Beautiful. You've made a wonderful job on this kitchen and I love all your Native American art, objects and decorations so much. You have given this house a new identity and a soul. xxx
The cabinets were green before.
Everything is looking good Sydney. You and Tommy have done such a wonderful job on the house and yard in the short amount of time since you have owned it. You are awesome!
What a nice surprise - going inside the house today! Sydney, the interior of the house is coming along nicely. The kitchen has always been beautiful and continues to shine with its new color and counters. Love the skirt on the coffee bar - adorable.
Love the house tours.
These little decorative objects are really beautiful, love your taste!!!💛💛💛
The house is absolutely gorgeous! You have fabulous taste. The interior updates are my favorite, especially the kitchen!
The color of the cabinets is beautiful!
Your gardening is great but your decor videos are my favorite!!!!!!! Love your style
WOW.... Gorgeous Sidney 🪻
Hi Sydney
You have done marvellously 🎉🎉❤. I love the colour of the cabinitry too. 💞💯
It's hard to go wrong with any Farrow & Ball paint color. I love your color choice and finish. A few years ago I also chose a dark stone counter and lived with it with for several years before switching to white quartz (because the dark stone shows every speck of dust and crumb and quartz is so easy to maintain). For those in the process of designing a new kitchen, most high end interior designers choose the Georgian faucet by Perrin and Rowe. It's pricey but very tasteful and blends seamlessly with the style of most homes. The mix of brass knob/pull styles give your kitchen a sophisticated look. The only thing that looks out of place for me is the lamp- a brass candlestick style lamp might be a better fit because the wood on the lamp accentuates the orangey finish on the floor. Otherwise, your pottery collection, pans, etc give it a casual 'lived in' look that we all strive to achieve. There's a very fine line between 'lived in' and clutter. Overall, the kitchen complements the architecture of your home. So many people overlook that important aspect when they renovate!
Kitchen renovation is gorgeous
Love the kitchen renovation and hallway area. So excited the see the powder room when completed. Glad you gave an interior update. Hope you will show more and any plans you have for the other rooms.
Love what you’ve done with the kitchen. Also love the bar room wallpaper but feel like the white painted doors distract. Perhaps a color from the wallpaper. Can’t wait to see the powder room finished. I know it’s a lot of work!🤗
Thank you for bringing us inside today!! You have elevated the kitchen beautifully! Especially love the stove/hood/lamp/pots/pottery ... that side is charming and looks practical for real, everyday use! Love it all!
I didn't change anything from how we use it everyday before filming. I could spruce it up for filming but thats unrealistic! Glad you appreciate the realness!
Thanks for sharing your beautiful home and garden improvement projects Sydney. Pet peeve: my OCD is screaming “Put that toilet seat down before filming!” Haha
You're the second comment on that. Ironically, I didn't even notice when filming. I do live with a man 😜 You know how that goes haha!
@@SydneyDorman Haha 🤣
Love your Native wallpaper, your bathroom sounds like it’s going to be unique. I like your kitchen you did a nice job making it your own. You have done a beautiful job making the house your own and the outside looks so good you are definitely a good steward of that old home you take such good care of the trees and all the work you did to eliminate the water problems from the basement to outside is nice. Can’t wait to see everything you do to the bathroom and paint color outside the bathroom
that faucet is amazing
Sydney, your kitchen is beautiful! Any and all of the new changes you have done are perfection, these changes making this into your home and having it the way that you want it! Looking forward to any new projects!
Personally,,,, I love everything you have done. And I'm sure everything you'll change along the way! I just like what you do ❤
Just love your attention to detail. Your kitchen is gorgeous. I think the smooth edge on the counter tops goes well with the cabinetry. It would be awful if a more decorative edge got damaged as it's a softer stone. You would notice it every time you entered the kitchen. Your entryway with that Native American wall paper is a show stopper, but the mirror still bothers me. Just a suggestion, l might try to swap mirrors over your fire place with the one in your entryway. The size of the fire place surround could justify a larger mirror. I would take down the plates and give them wall space of their own. A feature for people who visit to be able to look at your collection. I can see why you bought the antique tap and look forward to seeing how the room will develop. You are both such hard workers, you deserve your beautiful home with your wonderful collection of antique rugs and Native American Art. Love from England.
I love the soapstone and hope to get it in my kitchen someday. Good to hear you’d do it again!
Sydney have you considered turning the mirror above the dresser/table landscape and hanging it on the wall, I think it would look fab that way round 🤔😀
Oh goodness, I am looking forward to the powder room. That faucet is stunning, very unique.
The faucet is fabulous. I enjoy your style. ❤
Looking forward to seeing your future plans for your home! Thank you for sharing
You have such a gorgeous style. Very dramatic and warm with a sense of wonder. It is very distinct and I can’t wait to see more of what you come up with. I have to say I am very surprised with how complex the designs and the beauty with such thought. The whole house every corner will have to be redone. This is a whole other level. Great job!
Maybe since it’s a back entrance that space could have some hooks on a strip of trim? Like a subtle “mud room” feel. I Love hats on mine, and scarf or basket….seasonal changes
Looks great! If you absolutely MUST paint over wallpaper, which I had to do as even the pros couldn't remove it in one room- you can sand the seams and apply a think layer of mud and sand again. A lot of work, I know, but we didn't really have a choice :/ and it has worked out very well.
Love your kitchen cabinet color. Look forward to seeing your renovations!😊
I'm wondering if painting the white doors in the small room would make them "disappear" if you went a different color. Looking forward to the renovation.
I love where you are going . It’s funny when we think are vision is complete and then … a beautiful piece of brass changes your mood board . Love your vision, you keep being YOU !
1 piece is all it takes to turn things in a whole different direction! I love to find that one vintage piece to add interest! 🙂
Based on what you’ve done so far, go with your gut - you’ve got a great eye and know what you like!
Everything looks beautiful!
Your kitchen looks great love the color
Luv this recap of the kitchen! Everything is so beautiful and well thought out.
Love it all-----idea-you could paint that door black like the background of the wallpaper -that may help it disappear 😊
love the pots hanging over your stove
Excellent work! ❤
Sydney - your home is so unique!
Everything is beautiful. It definitely has a European look and feel. But...........the lamp in the kitchen ??? Not sure. Love your vids . ❤😊
If you keep the bathroom mirror, what if you did gold leaf on it.. I think that would look really good.
Awesome kitchen Reno! Viewed your inspa vision of your bathroom renovation ❤️. Cant wait for that. 👍
Well, the inside of your home is a real surprise based on the very trad Tudor style of the outside. Once finished, you really need to get on a house tour 👍🏻😉❤️
Love the kitchen and the colors in your wallpaper. What if you painted the mirror frame with a black lacquer? Can’t wait to see what colors you go with.
Yes, hold off on removing the hall wallpaper until you get the powder room completed. BTW, Love the mood board and fixtures you are planning for it.
Love seeing the inside again, love this house, also love what you have done, thanks for sharing
You are doing a wonderful job with the videos. I absolutely love your kitchen. I understand the OCD situation - speaking from experience. It will all come together with your detailed planning and selection of paints, etc.
Sydney, all my previous comments have been positive……..except this one. Please put the toilet lid down. Leaving it open, exposes germs more. Sorry it’s a pet peeve of mine. Why have a lid, if you don’t use it? Also, when you flush, if you don’t put the lid down after you use it, all the germs go into the air. My OCD would drive me crazy too, about the mirror in the bathroom! 😂
So beautiful! Love your style and enjoy seeing interior of your home❤ thank you for sharing.
Can't wait to see it all come together!
LOVE your bathroom ideas‼️
Your kitchen is so beautiful. Nice to see a kitchen that isn’t clinical white! Does your kitchen window face north? (I want to try a dark quartz countertop too but thought it might not work since mine faces north. )
When it comes to stripping wallpaper, I’ve had success using a tool called Paper Tiger that pierces the wallpaper with tiny holes and then I use a fine spray bottle with hot water and fabric softener to ease the glue. Plus it smells great!😂
Thanks for sharing
It does face north and there are 2 pretty large trees on either side of the window and it gets plenty of light!
Thanks! I’m going to be hopeful and try it! 🤞🏼
So exciting can't wait to see what you do. Love your home ❤
I adore your Native American wallpaper!
Looks awesome ♥️👍🏼🙏🏼🇺🇸Sending love hugs prayers and kindness with a daily dose of encouragement.
It’s so clean! lol I need to renovate my kitchen.
Your taste is exquisite , Sydney!
Your kitchen is beautiful!❤
Everything you have done is beautiful.
How exciting! Im now motivated to renovate my laundry area, its over due.
Looking forward to seeing the changes! 🇨🇦👏🌸
I love the kitchen and all the amazing colors you selected. Beautiful Native American wallpaper. If you wanted to paint the short hall in front of the powder room could you
put a skim coat over the wallpaper to seal it? Then re-paper or paint? Just and idea.
Thanks for the kitchen review. Have a great week.
Thanks for sharing your kitchen
I do love your kitchen. I would do small tweaks tho. And these are only suggestions. You do you! I think you have too many mugs up. Distracts the eye. Put your soaps in gold containers…will add a touch of a designer look. Consider only the Indian painting above coffee center and move up a little. Take down the plate. Too much there and your eye will focus on the cool painting. Consider moving the black and gold lamp into the kitchen. The other doesn’t quite fit in with your theme. I’m OCD too!
Great suggestions!
The kitchen is absolutely gorgeous, but the clutter around the sink would drive me crazy. I agree that the soap/ cleaning items could be more esthetically pleasing, and the paper towels need to find a home off of the countertop. Have you thought about the coffee area? Do you have a place where an appliance garage would accommodate the coffee and microwave? That space is very distracting and cluttering. Yep, my OCD kicks in, as well.
I noticed that you put up a line on this post regarding your floors in the kitchen. What color are you refinishing them?
I can't wait for the new bathroom remodeling!
I do love the cabinet color and that big window ❤ my question is, why didnt you bring the refrigerator all the way over to the door opening? It kind of makes that little corner in there seem like a wasted space. Im sure you cant reach in there to do much of anything, can you? However, maybe it would have been too crowded in that space too. I cant tell...But the kitchen is gorgeous 😊❤ absolutely gorgeous!! I also noticed that you're planning on adding more color in the other room. Cant wait to see that...I love homes with color 😊
Love all you’ve done. Just a thought re the wallpaper you want to remove before painting…you can wallpaper over wallpaper! Maybe a nice texture (grass cloth?) in the right shade of purple?
Looking forward to seeing your project when it’s done!
I have considered grass cloth but I feel like it might feel a little "I wasnt sure what to do here and I didnt want to remove the wallpaper and paint" so I put wallpaper here. I am going to see how I fee about the reno in the bathroom and then decide a neutral wallpaper or remove and paint :)
I love the wallpaper and I think a plum color paint would be beautiful! Not purple:)
Specifically "anemone" by house of hackney. It's a very deep plum 🙂
Gorgeous!
I think the kitchen is fine. It has a practical layout and you made it look attractive. I think the mugs and items around the stove top make it look cluttered. I would store some items out of sight.
I love your kitchen colors. Is the window a picture window? I am considering what do with my broken casement kitchen window and cabinet makeover.
Gorgeous, I have the same color of paint on my cabinets and a dark countertop. That powder room mirror & trim drive me crazy. I would remove both, find a mirror that would be a bit bigger, and then put the trim back up but maybe lower. It looks like the trim was put up as an afterthought, not original to the home. It definitely needs color, love that faucet.
Funny about your sink and mirror. I would notice stuff like that. And yes it would drive me crazy too. I actually don’t think I’m OCD but I like symmetry
Drives me CRAZY 🤪 Agreed. I like symmetry as well. One thing I have learned with some of the renos we have done is you have to watch like a hawk for little things like that not to happen!
What white paint, door trim have you found works nice with the wood tones you have
Yes, I hate my black granite countertops I didn't put in. I would go with the white stone, forget the name.
Sydney, I hear you about painting over wallpaper. When I moved into my home there was wallpaper on EVERY wall. One of the bedrooms had 7 layer's right down to a nursery paper and their children were in their 40's! It took us 4 days and multiple steamer's and liquid products to get it all off. I thought the downstairs walls had stucco on them and it was wallpaper with a knubby texture that they painted over. We ended up hiring a crew to remove it and it took 3 days for them to finish. So my pet peeve is not to ever do that too. Next spring we hope to start our kitchen reno and a small powder room, so I am looking forward to seeing what you do. Any plans for the kitchen floor?
We are just going to refinish it! They are original floors. In the video it lends orange but its more of a medium brown!
@@SydneyDorman Nice and cheaper then a new floor.
Sydney, is the cabinet color gray or blue? On TV it’s so hard to tell. Can you tell me the color? Thank you. You said you might pick a different color if you were to do it again… what would you pick?
It's a blue. When watching back to edit the video I thought it looked a little gray as well. Its definitely blue in person. It is Inchyra blue by farrow and ball with a black glaze over the top of it. If I re did it and picked a new color for fun, I would probably do a darker green or Anemone purple by house of hackney :)
@@SydneyDorman thank you so much. This may become my island color! Appreciate your quick response!!
Sydney, your home and gardens are fantastic. You have done an amazing job with all your renovation designs. My pet peeve is the skirted area of the kitchen. Your kitchen is beautiful. But, that corner with the skirted table becomes a peculiar eyesore. Sorry, just my opinion.
💙💙💙
💜
👍♥️
I’m a little confused on your decor style. You obviously bought the house because you like a Tudor style, but yet you’re not decorating this Tudor home in that style. Why is that?
Marrying the architecture of the house with some of the decor creates harmony. Good point!
I disagree, it doesn’t have to look like a museum house. They haven’t made any changes that alter the historic details of this home. They have their own personal and well curated style of furnishings and decor that they love, that’s the key. I’m here for it.
@@bettenotap4791 I agree 100 per cent with you which is why I wrote *some* of the decor. Anything too matching would be pastiche. A nod to the exterior architecture with just a few thoughtful pieces seems appropriate to me -but then I love old houses and their architectural styles.
tear out that ugly bathroom and turn up your vision!!!!
You need some good, strong medicine.
Don't we all ???
