    This table arrived well packaged and on time. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxn94T8Mu1iMnsLCMNOI9srXSsLkI4JXKW Like another reviewer advised, I pulled everything out and made sure everything was included (everything was!). I built it alone and it took me about an hour. The color is great and for the price the lift part works well. As others have mentioned, it’s not the smoothest opening/closing, but it works. The screws do show, but I plan to order white sticker covers if that bothers us too much. Really happy with this table! UPDATE: it’s been over a year since we got this coffee table and we still love it! It gets HEAVY use as our dining table, foot rest, and school desk. Over time, the opening and closing mechanism has gotten smoother. I added a new photo with the white screw cover stickers. They blend in perfectly and make it look a little cleaner. 100% recommend!!!

    You really need a crosscut sled. Using the t-square with the material between the blade and fence is asking for an Extremely dangerous kickback.

      You dont have to plane at all. Just gives a more totally flush look. You could use a table saw or not even bother with it.

    How well will the total boat hold up in the AZ sun? I have yet to find anything that lasts longer than a year.

    • @sh0cktim3
      @sh0cktim3 5 лет назад +1

      Nothing can last forever in that heat. Almost everything will need a recoat. Look for a good expoxy resin

    • @OneManBandWoodworks
      @OneManBandWoodworks 5 лет назад

      I’m guessing it’s similar to our heat down here in Australia, everything that attempts to put a film over the top fails pretty quickly so I now use a penetrating oil that resides in the wood and doesn’t leave a film like Organoil outdoor furniture oil. About once a year I was it down with deck cleaner and recoat. No sanding or brushwork, just use a sponge very quick and easy.

    I was wondering if you are interested or know someone who would be interested in donating old clamps or any kind of used tools or materials for woodworking. There is a woodworking school (from the government) here in my city in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico that is almost for free, but doesn't have many tools and is great for the community.
    The teacher is great and sometimes uses his oun tools to teach.

    DIY. Who has a planer?

    • @spndxkwby
      @spndxkwby 5 лет назад

      Use a hand planer, or a power hand planer, or a table saw... There are almost always other options. Also, I'm a hobbyist woodworker and I have a planer. You can get them pretty reasonably priced, especially if you are willing to buy them used.

    • @sh0cktim3
      @sh0cktim3 5 лет назад

      You don't need a planer if you got a table saw. They only used it to get rid of rounded edges.

  • @alexpettigrew8971

    I hate to be the safety police but the blade on your sliding compound mite saw is not the correct one. It is much too aggressive. You need one with a much lower hook angle. Check your owners manual for their recommendation. Nice project.

    • @sh0cktim3
      @sh0cktim3 5 лет назад

      What? Looks like a typical diablo 60 tooth blade? Don't see the issue

    • @alexpettigrew8971
      @alexpettigrew8971 5 лет назад

      @@sh0cktim3 A standard chop saw blade has a very aggressive hook angle. That is not appropriate for a sliding compound saw (or a radial arm saw). It is because when the slide is extended the blade is lifting the wood and potentially pulling it up off the table. If you check the Freud website you will see they have low hook angle blades recommended for sliders.

    This piece of rubbish is not furniture, it is a few wobbly pieces of wood with weak flimsy joinery. Why would you fool around with that equipment if you cannot even use the basics of putting a few pieces of wood together?
