Love your table. I've never worked with cement before. I have a very strong square wicker table from crate and barrel. The glass broke and I was wondering if I could put this cement right over it or if I need a flat surface>
Thanks for Feather Board idea. I'm new to everything and can pretty much tell you what not to do. But I'm thinking of just a feathered top with an acid stain. Any thoughts?
I didn’t see that. I keep this coffee table for a couple of months and then sold it, so I don’t know if any developed after. There is probably to much movement on the frame or the concrete was thick enough would be my guesses. 🍊
Looks awesome. How long between coats did you wait to apply the concrete? How do you think this will hold up outside in the colder regions of the country?
Thanks Matt! I did about two coats per day. The package said it dries in about 15 mins. I think it would be good in the cold… biggest worry is expansion and contraction with the humidity. They ways it’s built hopefully there isn’t much. 🍊
I am use that would work great. But I don’t know if I would use it as an outdoor coffee table then because it is open on the bottom and moisture could get in. 🍊
Just don't see how the corners and other places don't open up... show cracks. All wood moves... even plywood and that thin layered concrete without reinforcement will crack/ open up.
@@jamesrichards2980 She can definitely not deny one attribute about it, it definitely looks FRA-JI-LEE, so it must be Italian lol 😂😂😂 Creative in thought but very weak in execution…
@@jamesrichards2980 that will eventually crack, badly, try G.F.R.C mix, with f/g mesh on all corners, will last longer, but,ply not sealed, so moisture will get in, wood and cement, dont mix.
Hi, thank you for the great plans and cut list, it made the job so much easier, this is my first project and I am thrilled with how it turned out!
Yay! I love hearing that. I’d love to see a pic of your piece! 🍊
@@TheAwesomeOrange I don't know how to add an image to the comments or I would!
Your video was fun to watch.
Thank you! 🍊
This is stunning! Thanks for the how to. I'm going to use this for a counter top
Thank you! Happy building! 🍊
Youd be better off to use concrete instead of grout
@@Alectrizo I didn't use grout it was a feather finish concrete that is made to be spread as thin as 1/8" inch.
@@TheAwesomeOrange That is indeed grout
Looks great, Sadie!
Thanks Billy! It was fun trying something different. 🍊
love this!!
Thank you! 🍊
@@TheAwesomeOrange literally gave me everything I needed. I'm going to do this project 🙂 Best one yet and I've watched tons
@@JeremyDHoward Awesome! Thank you. Happy building! 🙌🍊
love the idea. I'm curious how it has held up over the last 2 years? Anything you would do differently? Thanks!
I ended up selling this one, so not sure on longevity. Biggest thing to worry about are cracks, but they would be easy enough to patch and fix. 🍊
@@TheAwesomeOrange May I inquire the ratio? That is how many times what you invested did you get back in return, please?
@@MarkH10I don’t remember what I sold it for, it was a long time ago. 🍊
Hey! This looks awesome. Not sure if you still are using this coffee table, but I’ve heard that the feather finish cracks. Did that happen to you?
I don’t have it anymore, so not sure. 🍊
amazing
Thank you! 🍊
Wow 🤩 you’ve done an amazing job 😊 it looks fantastic 😍🤩🌷
Thanks Melissa! It is crazy how easy it was to get this look! 🙌🍊

Thanks Susan! I would think it is possible, but not sure on longevity. 🍊

I think it sounds like an awesome idea! 🍊
Could have given it a sponge finish. That would have smoothed out any ridges and given it a great texture
Good idea. 🍊
Hi did you find that you had small long cracks develop once dried? I did a similar project yesterday but today I see cracks.
I didn’t see that. I keep this coffee table for a couple of months and then sold it, so I don’t know if any developed after. There is probably to much movement on the frame or the concrete was thick enough would be my guesses. 🍊
If I want the base higher what is another option of wood to use?
Instead of a 2x4 you could use a 2x6 or 2x8. Good luck with your build. 🍊
How has this held up? Any chipping?
I sold it… so o am not sure. Sorry. 🍊

Can I apply concrete paste to wood without any binding agent?
Cant u use sheetrock instead of the thin plywood for better adhesion?
I am use that would work great. But I don’t know if I would use it as an outdoor coffee table then because it is open on the bottom and moisture could get in. 🍊
how much does it weigh?
Not sure exactly…. The frame is sturdy but it’s not solid. Two people can carry it no problem. 🍊

I did end up selling this piece so I can’t speak to the longevity, but when I had it it looked good. And if needed touch ups would be easy. 🍊
@@TheAwesomeOrange probably if you treated it more like rendering, and put some of that metal mesh on the corners, it would last a little longer

Waste - can never put concrete on top of wood. Wood expands and contracts.
