You're a great advert for Jeep in Australia! It'll encourage a few people to plonk down their cash for a Wrangler/Gladiator. Jeep should be paying your fuel bill or something.
WOW! Dan, I take back anything I ever said about you being timid offroading. That entire trip was epic! Serious, extreme offroading, nice and remote with all the scenery you'd ever want. And the Gladiator was more impressive then I'd ever imagined. 4 weeks and 2 days until my cross country trip from Florida as far west as Utah and many states in between for some epic trails here. You've inspired me!
Wow Dan. Has to be the highlight of the trip so far for me. The terrain, the teamwork and the swimming holes were top notch! The picture in picture shot was great too. Nice to see how it feels to be there!
Well, I certainly enjoyed it, I fully expected you to damage that vehicle so often when you almost fell down those things into creeks. You're a terrific driver.
That was a pleasure to watch Dan ! Very well done on your wheeling abilities, and on the capabilities of the Gladiator ! It’s a point and shoot vehicle ! 🙏🌲🇨🇦
Dan! For The Love Of God - Please include you more in the cockpit and your decision making (good/bad) of going over terrain with gearing, feeling torque, gas pedal presssure - I found that the best of this video! Much Love From New England USA
there used to be a small single vehicle pontoon type ferry at the old jardine crossing too. but the guy that ran it was mysteriously taken by a crocodile and never seen again.
Some 35x12.50r17 Yokohama Geolander MT G003 on some 17x8.5 706 Method Bead Grip wheels, 4.56's and some momentum were needed, but 295/70r17 Yokohama Geolander MT G003 on stock wheels would be a good balance for touring and off roading.
You're right, epic track! We just returned from driving the Dempster in Canada, but compared to what you just did, we might as well have been driving our Gladiator on a two lane highway. Cheers.
Great video, the Gladiator is doing pretty good for only having 33' tires on it, my Gladiator Rubicon has 35' tires and they seem small here in Canada. I have a lot of friends in Australia and I was wondering if it is legal to take a Canadian spec Jeep over there. Glad I found your channel, making a big case to explore Australia.
I've literally been waiting years to see actual 4 wheeling videos I have no idea why I started watching your RUclips I guess maybe because you had a Jeep I'm sure 🤔 RUclips directed me to you.
Your jeep has great articulation. The long wheel base can hurt you on some of those obstacles, but it also gives you a more comfortable ride, which comes in handy on a lot of the miles you have covered in the trip.
Afterwork watching this will be my relaxing time. But had to see if you where going to do the gunshot. To be honest, you where so careful when taking out your father on a trip so thought you where going to take most bypass on the harder trails. But you do this in almost a stock jeep with super long wheelbase! I'm so impressed! Must also admit, I'm a bit jealous, Cape York and all the tracks there is a dream for me but here I sit in my boring office in super boring sweden. But one day I will do the Cape York. Ship my wrangler or buy/rent in Australia? That's the question.
Hey, you didn't see a fella in a funky Delica van did you? I just saw Harry from Fire to Fork doing the same track. He didn't go down in that big ditch at Palm Creek though.
Excellent vide Dan. Good to see a video on cape york being done in a gladiator. If you did, how did you seal the tailgate? They're definitely not water and dust proof.
Just watch the 4WD 24-7 guys do this track - looks like there is still a lot of water out there. Looks like a great track. After doing this, do you still think you'll stay at 33' tires? I'm wondering how much of a different some 35's would make. I still have 33's on my gladiator and I've been doing fine in the mountains of Colorado, but I think 35's will go a long way, especially with a loaded rig.
I will never go for bigger tires. There have been two places in the last year and a half where bigger tires *might* have meant I didn't need a 3 minute winch. There have been many many, MANY hundreds of days where I wished I got better mileage now with fuel prices. My vehicles are built to explore the world, NOT to be the most capable they can possibly be.
This was epic Dan! Great fun!! With all the mud and river crossings, how much water got in the Jeep? With all the electronic gear in the back seat, it must be a concern.
That would take all the fun out of it! There's a perfectly good gravel road if you just want to drive to the top of Cape York. The Old Tele is supposed to be hard!
Hi Dan. A question if i can . Considering the jeep is petrol did you have to do any waterproofing to the electricals or modifications to the Jeep apart from the snorkel to do the deep water crossings on the old tele track?.
@@TheRoadChoseMe Ok thanks for that Dan much appreciated. My local Jeep Dealer in Tamworth told me not to drive through water over knee height. And then insisted i install a snorkel. Did seemed a bit ridiculous. Anyway thanks heaps fafe travels.Regards Guy
Hi, did your group take any of the vehicle carnage out or does the shire council take care of it. Such a disappointment and disrespect to the environment to see shoes, vehicle parts left behind.
Yep, it was excellent. It did belly out on the exit of palm creek due to the long wheelbase, though on that day I don't think any vehicle on 33s made it out of there without a winch. A couple on 35s did. It walked through everything else with ease. Go slow on the entrances and drop-ins to some of the creeks, the rear overhang wants to hit stuff.
In fairness the HZJ75 *is* 4x4, but when he had one wheel in the air from each axle, it's effectively two wheel drive (like all vehicles without lockers)
Far, far too much weight even with a GVM upgrade. And all up high including an outboard on top of the drawers. My Troopy weighs similar but its all down low.
@@johnleaste828 wouldn’t extra weight force the suspension to flex more? Even with a RTT and at full GVWR I get zero issues with flex… basically just drives more comfortably
I thought this was 4WD 24/7 for a second
15:20 perfect drop 👍
I'm surprised these air bag didn't blow up on the first pass wow epic

"Honestly it's not that bad" famous last words, got stuck immediately haha
"Get this on GoPro"
What an epic and challenging track. I was really impressed at how the Jeep handled the various obstacles.
WOW!

Glad you enjoyed it & have an awesome trip Tom!!
My vote for best episode so far
Epic! Definitely a bucket list track and now I know my Gladiator can handle it no problem. Thanks for all of the awesome videos!
Glad you like them!
Fair play, didn’t think you would drop through GS. Great upload
Great stuff, Dan.
Absolutely brilliant! Congratulations. Great that you’ve ticked off a bucket list track and to hook up with such a good bunch of people. 👍👌
Wow Dan. Has to be the highlight of the trip so far for me. The terrain, the teamwork and the swimming holes were top notch! The picture in picture shot was great too. Nice to see how it feels to be there!
Thanks man!
Well, I certainly enjoyed it, I fully expected you to damage that vehicle so often when you almost fell down those things into creeks. You're a terrific driver.
Thanks! I'll be honest, with the Jeep in low range it did all the hard work. It was actually really, really easy to drive that track in that vehicle.
That was a pleasure to watch Dan !
Very well done on your wheeling abilities, and on the capabilities of the Gladiator ! It’s a point and shoot vehicle ! 🙏🌲🇨🇦
Looks like a wonderful time. Now this is a place where the journey creates memories for a lifetime 🤙👍
Every place has been like that!
it's been fun this series, to watch you explore and learn the capabilities of your vehicle, by being less timid about off road obstacles. Well Done.
Some day I'll make it to Australia and get this off my bucket list!

Will do!
Awesome 👏
Great video Dan. I did it 5 yrs ago. Its changed heaps since then. And yes, I'm looking to do it again next yr. 👍
You should!
Epic!
Epic and entertaining
Greetings from Argentina.
This was the most inspirational video, as it’s a trip I’ve wanted to do for decades. Your video is the best most fun trip I’ve seen.
Wow, thank you!

The Toyota's both flexed like a house brick, and made all of the crossings look difficult!
Well Done! 🎉🥇
Once again a great video, the Toyo guys must have watched it
Owsome track.
Cheers. 🍺&🍷
🙌 💯 EPIC! Nothing more to say. Thanks for sharing your adventure.
Cheers 🍻, G.
Glad you enjoyed it!
What a amazing video, Go the Jeep
thanks for another great ep
Glad you enjoyed it!
i like how your jeep flexed . do miss your old jeep , i thought it was a better set up.
Cool trip!
This was an amazing video. But the ferry operator coming and destroying a river crossing in order to force people to pay money is really BS.
Hey, you didn't see a fella in a funky Delica van did you? I just saw Harry from Fire to Fork doing the same track. He didn't go down in that big ditch at Palm Creek though.
No, didn't see any Delicas on the track.
Wish u would try out a roof top tent be better 4 u guys tho and ya Jeep wouldn't have a problem with the extra weight
Excellent vide Dan. Good to see a video on cape york being done in a gladiator. If you did, how did you seal the tailgate? They're definitely not water and dust proof.
I put some weather sealing around it - a little dust gets in, but not much

Barely a drop. And the electronics are well up off the rear floor, so no concern at all.

Cool! Gotta love good weather seals!
Jeep makes it look so easy so many tradie 4x4's Nissans and Toyota struggle but many u tubes influencers in 4x4 world never use jeep why ?
Aish may God bless you
You'd think someone would bring in a bulldozer at the start of each season to straighten out gunshot? That would save all that dangerous erosion.
That would take all the fun out of it!

wait ! what ?! u mean they force you to get the ferry ? the crossing at the exit other side has a digger hole ??
yep!
I thought I seen your vehicle pass by on one of the 4WD24/7 video's.
Hmm.. I didn't see them. Where abouts?
Why doesn't Josh disconnect his sway-bar?
There is no easy way to do that in a 70 series Land Cruiser, other than un-bolting it, which is illegal to drive on the road.
Hi Dan. A question if i can . Considering the jeep is petrol did you have to do any waterproofing to the electricals or modifications to the Jeep apart from the snorkel to do the deep water crossings on the old tele track?.
Nothing like that, just the snorkel and extended the breather lines on the diffs and transfer case.

What has the reliability and build quality been like of the JT, they haven’t had a great rep?
It was flawless for me
Looks like a bumper for an XJ Cherokee with the rectangle marker lights. Not 💯 percent tho.
Oh man, such a great content! Do you have a skidpad under the Gladiator? I'm considering to mount one
It's a Rubicon, so it has them from factory.
@@TheRoadChoseMe didn't know this. I will have to look for an aftermarket Part then
Just wondering are any 80series landcuisers travelling with ya
That land cruiser guy needs a jeep.
Overall are you happy with your decision to take a Gladiator? We have one and will be doing the cape this June/July.
Any Gladiator specific tips?

@@TheRoadChoseMe awesome, thanks mate! I’ve just upgraded to a JT rubicon from a JKU so I’ll have to get a bit of practice before I go!
Mate good video but people still drive across the Jardine brother, no need to spread miss information. Making people take the ferry is extortion also.
All that real estate on that roof rack and he uses it for that dinky shovel lmfao
For how long did you giggle aboot the boot joke for?
It's a daily thing!
How were the crocodiles?
None have been spotted on the track in 10+ years...
@@TheRoadChoseMe Good! You addressed it in the video a minute after I posted.

They get relocated away from places people like to be.

Yes, let's ask Katie what that's all A-BOOT. Cheap shot at her Canadian accent.
Nissan and Jeep did way better than Toyota. Those yotas can’t flex even with solid axles!
