Bloody brilliant and so fun to watch. It's incredible to watch how smooth Frank is and the way he analyzed every approach was cool to see. I always just get the distance and hit. Not sure what’s going on this year (he was playing much better last year and looked a proper golfer) imagine he was playing Pete as much as he did back in the day, he would get slaughtered. A +7 hcp opening with such a hideous snap-hook somehows warms my heart. no one has ever mastered this game, there are just some that suck less than others. 😂 jokes aside, he is 16 and his swing is pure violence, it really tingles to just watch it on tv
I'm not trying to belittle him nor judge him just based off of this, the kid is unbelievable especially for a 16 year old but I question the validity of his plus 7 handicap. I mean I'm sure based off the system that is what he comes in at but the system isn't perfect. Like the last time Tiger had a registered handicap he was at plus 8 and that was the same time he was lapping the field at the 97 Masters. It's hard for me to believe that he was only 1 shot better than this kid right now.
@@mattthomas1442 Dude, 1997 was before the prov1 had been released and people were playing tiny driver heads, technology has come a long way since then.
@@mattthomas1442 I have to agree. I’d say in reality he’s maybe a plus 2 or 3 but plus 7 seems ridiculous for a 16 year old. Most of the pros around off that handicap. He’s a very good player but I’m not buying plus 7
Rick's struggles are 100% his mental game. You should do a series where he addresses this with golf psychologist help. This would be so fascinating - basically addressing his thought process, confidence, routine, etc. Cocky rick is a great golfer, problem is that one or two slip ups and he turns into scared Rick and then it's game over. Mental coaching basically makes cocky rick = normal rick.

@RickShielsPGA Hi Rick. What are your thoughts on the DQ of Hideki Matsuyama in the Memorial Tournament? Also, what would be the benefits of adding white paint to thw face of his 3-wood?
Happened on this 2 year old video & I’m impressed with young Frank. I see that he has now turned pro. I heard Frank say that his clubhead speed is 118/119 mph. I have a 14 1/2 year-old grandson that stands 5’11 and 155 pounds. This week he starts his freshman year in high school where he plays basketball, football, baseball and unfortunately only a little bit of golf. He routinely bombs 300+ yard drives and he hits an 8 iron 180 yards. Our club pro says that his club head speed is unbelievable. Our club has a Bushnell Foresight simulator and his club head speed is anywhere from 114 mph to 121 mph. The sad part of the story is that he doesn’t play enough golf to shoot in the 70s. He plays to a 12 handicap because he hasn’t learned how to stay away from big numbers. If he decides that he really wants it, I’ll be there to help him because even though I’m approaching 70 and can’t hit the ball out of my shadow compared to my younger days where I used to be a scratch golfer, I do still remember how to score and that’s a big part of the game. The good news is, God gave him a gift and maybe at some point he’ll decide that he won’t be a professional baseball, basketball or football player and that he has a better future in golf. 😀
That course looks the business. As for the match, I've said it before. Rick you can be putting content out shooting 12 over as a pro, it's going to start diminishing your credibility.

He's clearly overthinking it and seems to have lost all confidence from 100 yards and in. He needs to get out of his head and just start enjoying it again. Because, as you said, it doesn't look like a big technical issue. He'll be back.
@@Hittingitstiff he's a RUclipsr not a pro LMHO
@@balance3201 I know he now makes RUclips videos but Rick used to be a qualified Pro.
@@Hittingitstiff "qualified teaching pro" Is a big difference to being a playing pro
He’s oozing with talent. The ball flight on that hybrid off the tee was ridiculous.
The amount of lip outs Frank had was unreal, easily could have been 5/6 under. Crazy! Different level
Love these..its 2.48am and I've just finished watching..come on Rick ye gotta win man ! Frank is defo a star of the future..awesome 👌
Ive never watched any channel with as many adds. Completely takes from the enjoyment of the video
This video was teased on the podcast. So excited to finally see it!
16 going on 26 - what a emotional wreck of a golfer I was at 16... Frank is so composed!
I was still an emotional wreck of a human at 26....
More of a wreck at 36 than ever was at 26 or 16
Really enjoyed watching that. Going to be fun to see his journey when he goes pro. Amazing talent
Great one Rick. Thank you for demonstrating patience and grace in your videos, it’s a genuine gift in your teaching of the game.
Mega kudos to your camera/ production crew. The shot at the 2nd hole was so cinematic.
This kid is really incredible. We’ll be seeing a lot of him in the near future. What a great video! Thanks Rick!
By the way Rick, just something I noticed was that a lot of the times when the 'Score Thru' is reported it says 'Score Thru 12'
Otherwise, great episode as always, super fun to watch!
Drove
me crazy
RICK! I KEEP SHARING MY PROGRESS BUT I AM NOW SHOOTING CONSTANT 102-106! YOUR VIDS HAVE HELPED DRASTICALLY! I have only been golfing for 5 months now! i will get below 100 by the end of this month for sure! you are awesome!
Keep grinding.

@Who Cares Rick Is a pro. He’ll help get scores down
Absolutely loving these course vlogs!
Your thought of videos and quality of your videos seem to be getting better and better everytime I watch. And what a top quality player Frank is aswell.👌 Keep up the good work Rick.
Just got into golf a month ago and found your channel. Love the videos, I am hooked to get better now haha
This young man’s swing reminds me of a young Mcillroy. Can’t wait to see him play more in the future.
Was gonna say this as well he's got a beautiful swing
Another absolute choke job by Rick
Well played Rick, very nice of you letting the kid win
You are a joy Rick, what a big hearted guy you are! It was a real pleasure to watch this lad play. I wish I had started as a kid instead if starting at 68! Still worth it though!
the 3 putt after eagle try was just heartbreaking
Rick makes me feel better about my short game. Thankyou 😅
Putting especially
Sadly enough, I would still take Rick's short game over mine lol.
I gotta tell you Rick, you’ve quickly become my favorite RUclips golfer. Couldn’t tell you exactly why but I enjoy your videos a lot. 🤙🏻
Very well put Captain Nemo.
Next: can I beat par if I start 10 under par.
He needs a morty to balance him out
Hi Rick, I have to say that I have only just started watching your channel and I think it is very impressive how even if you aren't playing well you are always fully supportive of the other people you are playing with, love it.
All I noticed was how he only talked about himself and wasn't picking the other guy up when he hit a bad shot. We watching the same video?
@@yup4640 I guess not, maybe watch a few more mate.
Give Rick props for posting this golf when he was definately struggling....
His swing has amazing rotation.
It's so great to watch.
For the ones who reads this just know this is only the beginning keep pushing, grinding, and fighting. Whatever it is in life you want to do to go after it life is to short. Life is a marathon not a sprint so go out there and live it up I hope all is well and goes well for you peace and one love! ✌🏽 🙏🏽
If I was Frank I would go through the college system and let my game grow and mature there then head off to the Tour
Not only entertaining, but humble. Great channel Rick. Shout out Frank - keep it up!
I haven’t played now for 5 years but watching your videos has given me the bug back,
I like the way he holds his putter. What grip does he apply when putting?
Thats tigers grip
A sly fox in the back at 16:59
That grip still looks super weak Rick!
+ handicap is under par player . All the tour players are +handicap
I just started playing golf and I cant get enough of your videos. Great stuff!
Loved the fox dropping by for a visit. We have a couple of them that regularly just sit and watch the golfers tee off group after group like they enjoy watching. Too cute. 😎😎
Wedges are finesse clubs but you always seem to be hitting them really hard. It's tough to watch your short game, it's like a 15 hcpper. Come on Rick!!!
You've got Daly and Son next month.
If you watched Rick before he had a beard click like!
@RickShielsPGA Hi Rick. What are your thoughts on the DQ of Hideki Matsuyama in the Memorial Tournament? Also, what would be the benefits of adding white paint to thw face of his 3-wood?
Love these type of videos
Travelling the country playing and interviewing up and coming young players could be the way forward 👍
