  • This 3.5L bag from Timbuk2 is a sweet crossbody bag that will hold a lot more than it looks! I really enjoy the fleece-lined compartment with magnetic closure and the long sturdy key leash. Check it out!

    finally a proper review of this bag ! 😢

    Nice review and nice self-funded purchase. I think the “pilling” you mentioned may be the result of the previous owner having had Velcro on their jacket sleeves and that catching/snagging on the zipper stitching there. I only mention it because Ive had that happen on other things.

    I also had this crossbody, and it also had this fraying issue with the twill material. But I currently have the Vapor backpack, which I love for small edc, and it's made of the same material; but it doesn't have the fraying issue. Strange, but something to note.

    I was looking for a review of this bag. I’m torn between this one and the Mystery Ranch District 4 and still not sure which one to buy lol. Thanks for the video, very informative!

    • @Enjoyyourcarry
      @Enjoyyourcarry  11 месяцев назад

      No problem, thanks for watching! I’ve never tried the district 4 but I love the district 2 for the bare minimum essentials. The timbuk2 is advertised as 7L compared to 4 on the district so that might be a factor depending on how much stuff u plan to carry with it🤷🏻‍♀️

  • @davewood406

    I am kinda leaning towards that Alpaka tech max but this one is pretty compelling too. I'm torn on the compartments/dividers that the Alpaka has. I want to think that's the way forward, my backpack isn't particularly well organized having cavernous compartments... so I end up pulling everything out of whatever pocket to get to the thing. So the dividers make sense but those dividers also limit what you can put in them. So the Timbuk2 bag is attractive because of the fewer but bigger compartments. I really like my Timbuk2 Backpack and the Timbuk2 "Closer" laptop briefcase. So there's brand familiarity. The make quality stuff. It's just the design and use philosophy that I can't quite decide between.

    • @Enjoyyourcarry
      @Enjoyyourcarry  9 месяцев назад

      The timbuk2 can definitely fit more. Are you looking for something to use on its own, or to put inside of a larger backpack? Unfortunately the timbuk2 crossbody strap isn’t removable as compared to ALPAKA.
      Thanks for your comment!

      @davewood406 gotcha. Then the ALPAKA tech case or tech case max might work well for ya, especially if u want to be able to remove the strap. The max size has a top handle.

    • @davewood406
      @davewood406 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@Enjoyyourcarry the max looked like the ticket. That top handle makes more sense to me than on the back and I’d rather err on the larger side. They(regular and max)aren’t massively different in size. Less than a liter between them advertised.

    • @Enjoyyourcarry
      @Enjoyyourcarry  9 месяцев назад +1

      @davewood406 yes when I got the max I was surprised at how not that much bigger it was compared to the regular size.

    I have this bag and felt like it was missing a back pocket for my phone so I’m unsure if I should keep or return it. I don’t want to put my phone in the big back compartment because it will be with my water but I can’t find a similar sling

      I no longer have the bag so I don’t know the exact length of the strap but the pics on the timbuk2 website can give you a pretty good idea…the bag can be worn lower at the hip or higher up on the body if the strap is tightened.

    Thanks for reviewing this! I agree about the handle being a dealbreaker. Can you recommend anything similar you've found that has handles for when it's sitting on a desktop? I recently bought a mini canvas tote bag from Amazon and I love it despite the fact that it looks like a little purse. I returned it since the interior is black and I had a hard time seeing what I put inside. But it was essentially the same size as this bag with handles.

    • @Enjoyyourcarry
      @Enjoyyourcarry  11 месяцев назад +1

      Do you mean a bag that is worn crossbody like this, that has a top handle? Finding something like that, that also stands up when it’s sitting on a table is not easy, unfortunately! Sounds like we like the same stuff. Maybe check out some offerings from aer, greenroom136, or ALPAKA. They have some nice possibilities, but nothing I can think of at the moment is just like this Vapor crossbody with a handle🤔🤨

      @@Enjoyyourcarry Thanks for the response! That's exactly what I mean! Thanks for the recommendations. Seeing your other videos truly expanded my horizons on what is possible with modifying a bag. I wonder if split rings could be used in tandem with small bag handles to effectively create a purse-like carry for when you are traveling a short distance like around the house. I always keep my AirPods, Invisalign case, car key fob attached via a carabiner, wallet, sunglasses, and Apple Watch (when I have to remove it to wash my hands), inside a mini external carry bag. I tend to move around a lot between bedrooms and to the car to run errands at short notice, and I really appreciate having my pockets empty. Always need my Invisalign case and AirPods with me too in case I jump on a phone call or eat a snack.
      That being said, I think I found two bags that check all those boxes and sit upright and have nice handles! I mentioned it in other comments on your videos, but for viewers reading this comment, check out the Topo Designs Classic Duffel Mini and Kavu Manastash Mini Duffle Crossbody Bag. The Topo Designs bag is selling at discount right now, for $29!

    I saw in another comment that you no longer have the bag. Did you find something else that worked better? I'm on the hunt for a 2 compartment bag like this so that i can fit a kindle, wallet, tech pouch and keys without fighting for space. This seems to be just what I was looking for.

      @@Enjoyyourcarry thank you! I'll put this one on my list and hopefully grab it if it goes on sale.
      I'm not sure if you've already looked at it, but the company Tom Bihn released a bag called "Le Grand Derriere" that has a top handle. It's just one big compartment though with some smaller pockets in the front. Unfortunately, it's also discontinued, but there might be some second hand bags floating around. I used it for a while, but the one big compartment was getting too cluttered for me.

    • @Enjoyyourcarry

      Yes! I do know about this bag but that one big main open space is a bit of a turn off for me too. Also, can’t say I love the look of that bag, either.
      Good to always put a search out on eBay or other buy/sell sites for a gently used Vapor crossbody-I love to find great prices there!

    • @Enjoyyourcarry
      @Enjoyyourcarry  11 месяцев назад +1

      And also, Tom bihn’s side kick, and even the side hustle both appeal to me in a lot of ways but neither have a top grab handle!👎

    • @kme06d
      @kme06d 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@Enjoyyourcarry I'm a big Bihn fan. I love the Side Kick/Side Effect for a smaller carry (wallet, phone, keys). I haven't thought of what it would be like with a top handle though, it's not that big of a bag, so it may not be needed. I tried the side hustle recently and was not a fan. I felt that it was too big and the fabric bunched up quite a bit if it wasn't full. Plus the inner pockets would sag inwards if you put anything in them.
