Kristian and Sam are back with another MCU reaction! In this video, Sam is first time watching Captain America: The First Avenger, the origin story of Steve Rogers and his transformation into the iconic Captain America. As someone who's new to Marvel, Sam has never seen any of the Marvel movies before, so it's a totally fresh experience for her! Kristian, a seasoned MCU fan, is accompanying her along for the ride to see how she reacts to this action-packed origin story. Will Sam enjoy the movie as much as she did Iron Man and Thor?
In Captain America: The First Avenger, Steve Rogers, played by Chris Evans, is chosen to undergo an experiment that turns him into the ultimate soldier. Facing off against Johann Schmidt, a.k.a. Making Captain America’s origin story in a live action movie is probably the toughest task in my opinion. How do you put a character dressed as a flag in a world war scenario and make it look believable and not ridiculous? They handled it perfectly. Super underrated movie.

Last one I saw was the 1990 bootleg I had to get at a convention. How was this character possibly going to work? Somehow. SOMEHOW they made this guy my favorite MCU hero. And the sequel… holy sh&t. That and Cap’s whole arc make this one of the best movies to revisit.
I remember as soon as it was announced I saw the title and just thought, “Captain AMERICA? Really? That’s so specific and biased and cheesy. How in the hell are they gonna pull that off?” But lo and behold, they pulled it off.

Hands down, the best Origins story in phase 1 and hands down no contest the Best Trilogy in the MCU.
I loved this movie on release, and still love it today.

This is my favourite Captain America film and my third overall favourite MCU movie after Avengers Endgame and Guardians of the Galaxy.
It is a solid one for sure!
In the beginning, the town with the church and the tesseract is the same village the ice giants attack in the prologue for Thor.

I wasn't overly impressed with this movie when it was released because it was kind of a "prequel" in a way and it kind of took the story backwards and I wanted the MCU story as a whole going forward.
But-- the more time has passes and the more I rewatch it, the movie always gets better and better to me.

Christmas Day!
The shield bouncing off of the vehicle directly to the camera made me flinch when I saw this in theaters (and a couple of times rewatching).
This has really been so fun to watch. It's made me fall in love with Marvel again (at least what it used to be.) It was a great time growing up watching these in the theaters.
I love feeling the excitement again through Sam. Keep them coming.
The jokes got me buckling over. Took me a good 10-20 seconds to register "poor guy I can see his thoughts". 😂

Cap is my second favorite hero so it was so cool to see him brought to the screen so well! Sadly I won't get another Hulk movie forever lol and even if I do I doubt they'd go into what makes Hulk comics interesting which is the deep dive into his head of how the different Hulk's and Banner interact and the relationships there it's so tragic and beautiful.
I agree. I’d like to see them dive deeper into hook. I hope they eventually do.
Captain America still remains as one of my top favorite MCU movies of all time. I'm glad Sam loved it. Joe Johnston was the perfect director to tackle it. Between this and The Rocketeer, he captures that time period so well. Also, you know the part where Hayley Atwell almost touched Chris Evans' chest? That wasn't in the script. That was Hayley herself nearly giving into temptation lol. I'm glad it was left in because it highlighted part of the growing attraction between Steve and Peggy.
I love the fact that she will fall in love with Loki as the movies go on

This is one of me and brothers favourite mcu films its such an underrated gem that doesn't get talked about that much of how good it is it really should get more recognition by the fandom the mix of pulpy science fiction with wartime era action adventure is a great combo of genres to blend
Now knowing what powered those weapons, you now know that they most likely teleported somewhere.

I love Captain America the first Avenger it has that same feeling that the Rocketeer has of course that's because its made by the same director
As popular as Iron Man is, it was more important for Marvel to get Captain America just right. He's the cornerstone of the MCU and they nailed it. I just hope James Gunn does the same justice for Superman. He's the exact same in that regard for the DCU.

RE: Cap not putting on a Hydra uniform. There are treaties, and therefore laws, regarding the fighting of wars. One of them is that if you get caught behind the lines out of uniform, you can be tried and executed as a spy, rather than made a prisoner of war. (I know people want to complain that it would have been a Hydra uniform, but this iteration of Hydra was part of the German military)
This makes sense. And if there was someone who would stick by those rules, it would be him.
This 1st suit took some time for me to get used to it because....whew....when this first film came out...that suit BOTHERED MY SOUL. With Cap's two alternative suits, they eventually fixed the issues I had.
Oh yeah, I didn't mind.

Top 12-15 MCU film for me. Really underrated one
Very Very solid.
Seeing this movie in theaters as a kid was an experience. I was on vacation in Florida with family at the time when I was. It’s a movie that I think ranks in the bottom half of all the MCU movies that have come out I’d say more closer to the top of that half, but it’s still a good movie.
I dug it a lot.
17:20 was NOT scripted. Hayley Atwell was literally overcome at that moment, pulled out of the scene.
I didn't love the action in this movie but the story was engaging which really made this movie what it is And it's impact
Not sure if it's commented below, but something went wrong from 16:38-16:46 where it just cuts to black. It doesn't seem like any of the reaction was missed, but if you didn't want the dead air, this is where it was.

The 1963 New York World's Fair was held right where they are showing The World of Tomorrow. I was there with my parents as a very young child. I'm told that an uncle of mine had one of the very first Bavarian Waffle kiosks there. I don't remember it much. But yeah, it's changed a whole lot in recent decades.
And its in Iron Man 2
Testament to the importance of first establishing what is quintessential in the central character of a movie. Steve Rodgers remains the same person at his core throughout the phases.

Figured Sam would enjoy this one. If not just for the eye-candy. It’s one of the best origins… and My God do the phase 2 & 3 sequels/films make this one better.

Such a good Captain America movie. This is why he has the best trilogy in the MCU. And that "Pause it right there."😂That is every female who watches the movie. It makes sense, because he's buff and handsome.

Hugo Weaving (The Red Skull) is amazingly versatile. Beside playing Agent Smith in the Matrix, he was Elrond in the Lord of the Rings, and Desmond Doss's father in Hacksaw Ridge.
If you like Peggy in this film, you should check out the Agent Carter series.

Great reaction. This movie has grown on me more every time I have watched it. Joe Johnston directed Rocketeer back in 1991. Haven't seen it in a minute, but remember it being pretty good.
