    Great video ☺️. In winter in northern Michigan. The coyotes will follow the deer once the snow adds up.
    Hunting your fall deer locations will be a bust. In some areas they yard in cedar swamps. Other places they
    Will stay in timber but with lots of
    Cover.

      Thanks so much for all your help, brother! One of the biggest questions I can't seem to get a dial on is this; What is your go-to call for first setting up? I know there are dozens of vocalizations dependent on a thousand different things, but when you first set up do you use a distress call or do you howl, yip, bark? I have no idea how to start a set out.

    • @austinhowell7074
      @austinhowell7074 7 лет назад

      At the moment I'm experimenting with both electronic and mouth calls. Usually starting low with a distress call...A couple mutes of calling, followed by a couple minutes of silence throwing in lone howls every now and again.

    Will calling coyotes with your techniques work just as effective for bobcat? I hunt in Texas and a bobcat is top of my list however I only get coyotes coming in. My initial thought is all the mesquite cover (mesquite is everywhere here) keeps me from seeing them. Should I add some sort of visual bait where I can draw them into the open? If so what is your suggestion?
    Great video by the way, found it today and just subscribed to your channel.

    I know this is an old video but Im just now getting into trying this out kinda like others have said just to scratch the itch to hunt between deer seasons. I was just wondering if I do shoot a coyote fairly early in the hunt is that hunt pretty much over because Im not using a suppressor or will more come to the call if they are in the area? Also after I kill that first one do I need to remove it (would the dead coyote scare off others) or just leave it lay till the hunt is over? Thanks for the video I cant wait to try my 6.5 Grendel out on these things.

      20-30 minutes before moving

    • @toddk1377
      @toddk1377 Год назад

      It's never the same. I've called a coyote in after less than 5 mins after distress call, other times I called for over 35 mins off and on before one came in. If I have only 3-5 stands for the day, I'll stay at least an hour at each stand unless I shoot one. If I have 10 stands I can hunt that day, then usually 30-40 mins and I move on. Sometimes coyotes are very timid and won't break from cover and need to be coaxed in to the call with a good call sequence and patience.

    I just bought ICOtech 300 caller took it out yesterday to my deer hunting spot since deer season is done here and have seen coyotes in my bait on the trail cams. I setup in the best I could along the edge of the bush staying down wind best I could, set the call up along the fenceline which left me a nice bit of clearing between the call and bush area, used jackrabbit distress got instant response of yips growing to howls moving in my direction tried another distress and they were still moving closer with barks and yips, tried to answer with some barks back and a howl and they hung up never saw or got a shot at any, any advise?

    • @steenosrs8077

      Yeah, if they're coming don't change tactics.

    • @toddk1377
      @toddk1377 Год назад

      If you know they are approaching, just keep using the same call or similar. I would only change sounds if I'm not seeing anything. Also, depending on the time of year and what not, sometimes the howl just isn't effective. I primarily use the howl call to locate and call during breeding season. Otherwise it's mostly animal in distress and the occasional howls, yips and barks followed by more animal in distress and this is using the same Icotek 300 caller.

      It depends on the geographical location of the coyotes.Eastern and Midwest do not bring as high a price as westerns.

    I watch your guises videos every day. And I am a vert big supporter I loved the video and I have spent lots of money on your guy's website. Do u think you could send me some calls or shooting sticks. I really want some sticks or calls and I live in Arizona and it is my sons birthday in a week on January 10, 2017. Thanks that would mean a lot. God bless and be safe!

    He says to look for coyote sign. Then doesn't describe what coyote sign is. Then he says you need a good rifle. After 4 minutes, I stopped watching this useless video.

      Coyote sign, do it the easy way, follow a road, look for poo, if you find some it almost always will have fur in it same for fox.
      Coyotes travel roads, it conserves energy, easier travel.
      Rifle? Flat shooting rounds like .223, 22-250 or any round you are competent with, doesn't matter.
      Make sure your clothes have NO odor,
      many wear tall rubber boots to eliminate scent.
