Wow, Tracy your scrubbing all those slates really is necessary, but it's also heroic upcycling. Thank you for doing it. Clearly the walkways need to be wide enough for three. That's a good girl you have there.
I laughed when Budo was mentionning that he sometimes would do some prepping and cooking and Tracy replying that she should film that! That cracked me up. Also, great idea to have seating at the island. I have that, and we sit at the island for most of our meals instead of in the formal dining room (my kitchen is too small to have a breakfast nook, so my island sort of fills that role). Also, I agree with you both to have the sink separate from the island. Budo, if you can, build all your lower units with drawers (pot drawers, etc.) because it makes for a more efficient use of the cupboard/cabinet space. You open the drawer and you see everything there; none of this « take everything out of the cupboard because the pot is at the back….). Haha, so that’s my two-cents’ worth 😊 loving all your ideas so far. Tracy will have a dreamy kitchen, for sure!
Yes it made us laugh as well Rita 😁 great suggestion and we have all been there when you need the pan that is at the back of the cupboard . Yes l will and l cannot wait 🥰🌞xx
Greetings again from the middle of the USA! Can never get enough of all the progress that continues at the French farmhouse. I look forward to each & every video. Have a lovely week ahead!
I am so sorry you couldn't get your wood dried as you wanted. On the upside, it is good you know what to do with it to dry. I love your kitchen layout plan. Tracy, great job on the tile cleaning.❤
Your kitchen is going to be fabulous! It will be full of light for sure. Will you need a place to store coats or boots when walking back in from your garden. There… that’s my 2cents for what it’s worth. Seriously I think you’ve thought of everything.
Hi Tracy and Budo. Isn’t it too bad that you couldn’t get your wood dried like you wanted. Of course, that doesn’t stop you from doing other important stuff. I admire how you take it in stride. No whining, you just plow on… The kitchen is coming along very nicely, with the walls and floor all prepped. And I am drooling over your drawing of the « aga wall ». It is spectacular! That kitchen will be the envy of not only the neighbourhood, but of the whole county! I agree with you on the wider alleyways in the kitchen. You can afford it since you have such a big space. And a big island with storage and seating 👍🏻 We’d all love to see a rendering of the rest of the units and island. 😊. With Tracy’s pointing on the stone walls and Budo’s kitchen cabinets and woodwork, wow! Just Wow! Just loving this progress. I am in awe of your talents. Wishing you good luck with the rest of the work, and lots of sunshine and warmth in the coming weeks so that you can crack on with the roof 😊 greetings from 🇨🇦
Yes Rita whining wont speed things up you just have to get on and yes there are lots of jobs to do. The Aga wall is going to be spectacular and yes Budo is a great craftsman and l have a lot of respect for what he does and what he knows thank you for your wonderful comment and a bon weekend to you 🙏🏻🥰xx
Such hard workers! September will be here before you know it and the kitchen is really coming along! Great to see the plan! And yes… the bee honey!! Omg!! So good! Always great to see your smiling faces❤😊🎉
Yes! Thank you Pam you are right plenty of jobs to get on with. Yes you were lucky to taste it 😋 it is yummy very floral. Have a great weekend chat soon 🤗xxxx
We watch you two week after week out perform the chateau crap and there is only two of you and they have loads of help and they still ruin their buildings 😂👍🏼 great job guys..
Your excitement is getting me all excited! Love the plan of the kitchen. Now you have the floor in, it's a proper room. The fun can really begin!! Thanks for the shout out...Big LOVE✨❤✨
Tracy you are going to have one beautiful kitchen. I am looking forward to seeing the kitchen completed. Budo is such a talented guy. He seems to be a Jack of all trades. ✌🏻❤️🙏🏻
I’m in love with the overmantle Aga surround. That is the most beautiful set of kitchen cabinets I’ve ever seen. And it looks so French! Really, you guys have outdone yourselves with the design. I’m gobsmacked. 😳👍👍😄
Hi Tracy and Budo love from Chicago Illinois. Love your plans for your kitchen. It sounds beautiful and I can’t wait to see it. I can’t wait to see your artistic work with the cabinets Budo. Love you guys stay healthy and keep churning out those videos love them. I look forward to them every week.
Hi Budo and Tracy, I love how obviously excited you both are about your plans for the kitchen! The entire set up is going to be perfect. I can almost visualize that island with smaller appliances so not all over the counter there and the area to be able to put your legs under. So wonderful!❤❤❤
I sank with you regarding the miscommunication of the wood dry time. Naturally there’s a lot of hard work and anticipation, excitement over your plans. You took it so well Budo and then promptly went to plan B. Good on you!!! We are with you in spirit. HUGS 🤗
Thank you Elizabeth it was a knock back but its all in hand as from today and yes we keep going forwards there's no time to look back in this outfit all the best Budo xx 🥰🙏🏻🌞
Traci--I forgot, did you guys decide what was going against the pointed stone wall side? A small, armless banquet/bench seating against the wall w/ small oblong table & 2 chairs would be great in there. And I will say that the biggest regret I've ever heard about kitchen islands? making them too deep (we all have a ton of stuff to store, but these can so easily take over your kitchen) Good luck on this!🙂
I love watching your videos, you have inspired me to attempt to lime mortar the internal stone walls at our small house in Burgundy. I'll be stripping off the plaster and digging out the joints when I go over at the end of April ready to redo the mortar when I'm there again in August, following your lime mortaring videos avidly, for hints and tips. Anyway about your lovely new kitchen. I wanted to direct you to watch an American homesteader called Becky from 'Acre Homestead' she has a central island and it has deep drawers around the top of the island where she keeps her baking ingredients flour etc. in tall tupperware type containers, she can scoop out what she needs as she cooks seems a really handy setup I thought you might be interested.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment and we are so happy we have inspired you to do your stonework its a lot of work but the finish is so rewarding. Yes we know this homesteader we have watched her on youtuber this is a great idea thank you x😻x
When planning my last kitchen, some genius thought I had enough walking room between the sink and freestanding island which had a large dishwasher installed in the island which faced the sink. Have you guessed my problem. Sink and dishwasher directly inline with each other. 1. I couldn't stand at the sink to rinse off dishes with the dishwasher door open. 2. The dishwasher door wouldn't fully open. It hit the cabinet under the sink. There was not enough walkway. I sold that house. You have a great plan. What a lucky girl Tracy is.
So sorry you had to bring your timber back after all that hard work prepping it and stacking it on the trailer. I’m liking the plans for the kitchen you’ve been so busy, well done
Gutted for you both with the wood kiln after the race to get it to them. Interesting update with the kitchen We could see the smile on Tracy face with the island going to look stunning. On a different note I read that some RUclips watchers think they have to pay to subscribe to channels! as we know it is FREE. Have a wonderful weekend both.
Yes it is but Budo will put temporary worktops till he makes the new ones 🌞no this is not true Phillip there is a members only on peoples channel which you do have to pay £5.00 to watch the videos or exclusive videos they might be getting confused. Bin weekend to you 🥰😎🍺xx
Yeaaah ! Roof tiles ! Thanks for the tour of the siri . Always seem to have to wait on unexpected issues that pop up ! But you know, there's plenty of things to do with your time, while you are waiting for wood to dry. Patience will pay off in the end. : ) Thanks for sharing, sincerely in San Diego Calif.
Sad about the wood drying :(. You both worked so hard to get it there. But as we all know if you are fixing a home that there is always something else to do until you wait for the wood to dry. You are both amazing!!!!!!
@@FrenchFarmhouseDiaries I love your plan! My son & his wife built their house, modified builders plans and ended up with many features you and Budo described, and for the same reasons…after hosting their first family event, they realized they did not account for people sitting in those high top chairs to allow space enough for others to “pass by”… i love watching your channel☺️
Hi, think about drawers, instead of doors and shelves. Because when you get older, it's difficult to go down on your knees. It will be easier to just have a look from above 😊
Hi Florence in our plan there is 23 draws in total and could be 25 of which 3 are long and 6 are deep this is not including the box draws I build for in side the pantry and larder cabinets xx
Great vlog Bodo and Tracy. The pic of the range looked outstanding can’t wait to see it done. Shame about the wood yard but no doubt you’ve got it covered, there must be more than one wood yard with a drying process. Just thinking out loud, wont the rear of the Aga be insulted at the back to stop possible heat transfer at the rear? Would tiles protect the plaster board? Just a thought. Love it when your explaining what your doing. You took a huge risk explaining to Tracy on how the kitchen works! LOL. Stay well you two.
Ah, so frustrating about your wood drying issue. But oh my, I can feel your excitement about the kitchen!! 2 comments: first, with large islands, it's sometimes difficult to reach the center to wipe it down. Second, a big charcuterie tray built on a turn table (lazy Susan in the US) would be cool. I'm so excited for you, can't wait to see Tracy cooking in her kitchen 😊😊
I came here just now to make a similar comment about a large island, only my notion is there could be wasted space in the center if the cabinets only go on the periphery. Budo is clever enough to add some hidden shelves on rails for items Tracy only needs access to once or twice a year, but that is something that needs to go into the whole island design from the start. Just something to think about!
Hi there it is all in hand Budo has it all worked out and you will see this when the island is completed . Thank you for watching. Bon weekend to you 🥰🙏🏻
We are super excited and especially me but l am very patient and l know the kitchen will be a beautiful bespoke kitchen and a space we will all enjoy for a vet long time thank you for the suggestion and l am looking forward to doing v=cooking videos for you all 🙏🏻🥰xx
Hi Darren yes it was in a way but it might be a blessing as its air drying now and is around 26% so it shouldn't take to long as summer is creeping in and also i would of had to stored it if it came back in a month so every thing should be good mate 🍺🤠👍🏻
The kitchen sounds lovely. Have you considered making the area of the island where you plan to have stools a lower level and making it look like a farmhouse table. As a shortie my pet hate is tall stools at an island- quite uncomfortable, whereas table height and chairs would be lovely casual dining and still a sociable space to talk to the cook.
Thank you Sue this is a good suggestion as l am only 5 foot 3" and we have had stools before and it can very a bit annoying when you have short legs xx
@@FrenchFarmhouseDiaries sure you will get it just right for you and with the talented Budo to create your dream you are a lucky woman. I really admire how you two work together.
It looks as though it’s going to a wonderful kitchen! Wondering if I messed it, is there to be a boot room? Living I. The country, a mud/ boot room has so many practical purposes. Thank you for your videos! A Gram from MO.
Hi Jane thank you no we won't be having a boot room in the kitchen space our porch that i built is sort of our boot room but we might have some coat hooks up behind the door space so keep watching all the best Budo 🥰😘🪻
Gutted for u both about the wood but u both went to plan b love the kitchen so for what are u doing on the ceiling ?? Looking forward 2 nexted weeks episode
Yes it is Theresa but we have so much to get on with while we are waiting. We are putting plasterboard then tape and jointing and painting bon weekend 🤗xx
Two questions ? Can you use a cement board product to insulate the heat around the stove wall? How much room will you need between the island and the stove when the stove door is opened and you are putting in or taking out product?
Hi William thank you i did think of that but it started to encroach on the island space but we have it all in hand now and ill be doing some really interesting insulating on the out side in an old fashioned way with lime as the main product so keep watching buddy 🍺🤠👍🏻
Your kitchen is going to be superb❤ Sorry about the wood drying set back. I’m interested in your ideas about a solar powered wood kiln you mentioned in another vlog. Very best of luck this week!😃
Hi guys, been binge watching your channel trying to catch up. only discovered you from Terry, Ash and Traceys channel. Love what you're doing and your definitely an insperation to us all.only wish I had half your talents. 1 question I have is a while back you got the electric bike which you put together and you were going to do a review of it. I seem to have missed that one. Do you know what episode it was in if you infact did do a review. Many thanks and I'm only 2 months behind now. Can't wait to catch up. Regards, Nigel in Leeds.
Hi Nigel and thanks 😊 We have nothing to do with that family there not very nice and on the bike 😕 we haven't done a follow up yet but may do in the future but it has pretty much rained here for 5 months I can count on two hands how many dry days we had lol 😆 any enjoy the rest of our videos all the best Budo 👍🏻
So disappointed for you, with the problem with drying your wood out. Im wondering if there is another woodyard with a drying oven in the area?? Looking forward to seeing the kitchen build 😊😊😊
In France they have air dryers in England you will find a lot thar are vacuum driers so we will try and look at another option and if not we will have temporary work tops. bon weekend to you 🥰🙏🏻xx
Re the pantry & larder positions - if the pantry is for food to be kept cool, would it be better to locate it far from the aga? That is swap the pantry & larder positions?
Hi Mika they will both be far enough away as the heat retaining walls will be both sides of the aga rayburn you will see the blocks in tonight's video xx
Okay I get the explanation of the insulation on the outside, but what are you going to do with that side of the roof? Are you going to put a little bit of an eave on the edge of the roof so the rain won't run down the outside wall?
It’s good someplace to put all the appliances except the coffee pot in the toaster😂
I really like Mr Bloke channel. It is special.
Hi Yes they are a great couple and we are so glad to be there friends too 🪻🍷😄

Hi Darren yes it was in a way but it might be a blessing as its air drying now and is around 26% so it shouldn't take to long as summer is creeping in and also i would of had to stored it if it came back in a month so every thing should be good mate 🍺🤠👍🏻
@@FrenchFarmhouseDiaries so glad it’s working out for you mate.
Have a great week
Great progress and loving the music😊
Thanks so much! john bon weekend to you 🥰🙏🏻
Are you going to put tiles under the auger?
Yes robber we will be buddy
💜💙💚
thank you
It looks as though it’s going to a wonderful kitchen!
Love the kitchen plans for Tracy’s dream kitchen. Will you have an alternative cooking source for the summer when the Aga goes off ?
So glad you do🥰 we will have a cooker with hob for the summer when the aga is in use 🙏🏻xx
Your kitchen is going to be superb❤
Sorry about the wood drying set back. I’m interested in your ideas about a solar powered wood kiln you mentioned in another vlog.
Very best of luck this week!😃
Thank you Melina we are super excited to see it finished 😀 and yes this could be something for the future . Have a great weekend 😀 xx
What a bummer with the wood drying
Yes it was Richard but September will soon be here and lots of jobs to get on with at the Farmhouse 🤗xx
Hi Nigel and thanks 😊
We have nothing to do with that family there not very nice and on the bike 😕 we haven't done a follow up yet but may do in the future but it has pretty much rained here for 5 months I can count on two hands how many dry days we had lol 😆 any enjoy the rest of our videos all the best Budo 👍🏻
I have a question. I love the cabinets around the arga, but how do you keep the wood cabinets & the wood floor from scorching?
That's why there is a wall on both sides of the cooker I did explain that earlier in the video
Okay I get the explanation of the insulation on the outside, but what are you going to do with that side of the roof? Are you going to put a little bit of an eave on the edge of the roof so the rain won't run down the outside wall?
Hi Susan there is already a 225mm eve over hang so there will be no problem there 😊 ☺
Is there a vacuum type drying kiln in the area?
Hi there no there is not within a 4-5 hour drive of us 🤗xx
What are you going to do with the flooring in the kitchen?
Hi Richard Budo will be making a Hardwood floor to go on top of the subfloor when the kitchen is made 🥰🍺😎xx
The constant rain would depress me to be honest. Is this normal for the North of France?
This year the whole of France has had 20 % more rain than usual 🤗
@@FrenchFarmhouseDiaries Thank you. We have had a lot of rain here in Ireland too. And the summer hasn't really happened yet either. Take care.
