I have the drill driver and its been through absolute hell torture at work. The rubber on my drill have worn down but its still working like a champ! Same as the battery, still charges with no issues.
Medium duty home DIY'er, so I bought this set for myself 5 months ago to replace an old 14 volt craftsman ni-cad that died. Love these! Surprisingly powerful and the batteries hold a charge for a long time when not being used. Bought same set for my son who is just starting out with beginning honey do chores. Only complaint is no onboard storage clips for the driver bit that the Craftsman had.
You will be very happy with the set they have great power and are very comfortable. But I do find I use the Makita 12 volt more because they are a little smaller and they have more tools in their system and I have 5 different 12 volt Makita’s. I have a a head to head to coming out between the systems so stay tuned for that one.
I have this set among several Ridgid Gen5x and Octane 18v tools. I too am impressed with both the 12v impact and drill. Thank you for an excellent real world breakdown. Great video.
I'm glad that the Octane and Gen5X are working for you, I purchased 6 of the new Octane tools about 8 months ago and put them on the trailer and our luck with them hasn't been the best. The recip saw broke within 2 weeks and the jigsaw just broke a couple of weeks ago so we have lost 2 out of 6 tools in less than 8 months and we don't abuse our tools we try to take care of them. The circular saw sucks it has no power, my $99 Makita kit saw cuts faster and better, so needless to say I'm not terribly happy with Rigid tools. I will say that the SDS Hammer has worked well for us, the big hammer drill has been excellent and the oscillating multi tool has been used heavily and has performed well, so I cant say that all Rigid tools are bad, but for us as a small general contractor Rigid hasn't been the most reliable for us.
I use this set more than I ever thought I would. Most times I don’t need to pick up my 18v drills. I love Ridgids’ palm style impact. Best $79 I’ve spent.
The one in the video is the 82230 and it drives them pretty well as you can see. What battery are you running on it and have you sent it in to get checked.
