Aunt Clara was the definition of the loveable little old lady. Yeah, her spells backfired, but she never meant any harm to anyone. She was respectfull and nice to everyone. Plus, she was the only one in Samantha's family that acrually liked Darrin. I've had the series on DVD some four years, and i still haven't watched the show passed seson 5. It just wasn't the same without her.
Miss Montgomery was ready to quit after those five seasons but her husband, one of the producers of the show and the network would always twist her arm for another season.
My fav. when Alice Pearce tried to control the rain. My fav. with Sandra Gould is when the shoes walked out of the closet and she fainted onto the floor! They were both funny!

I could not stand Sandra Gould and can barely watch those...Abna...Abna...episodes. She was hideous in the Ghost and Mr. Chicken and all the Bewitched episodes. I always hoped there would be an episode where Endora would destroy her.
True. I liked Endora though. Yeah she was a real pill towards Darrin, but, Agnes Moorehead was one of my favorite actresses. Let's face it, NOONE could have played the part of Endora like Agnes Moorehead.
I always felt sorry for Mrs. Kravitz. The shows were clean and funny. You could watch tv with your grandmother without being embarrassed. But poor Mrs. Kravitz kept getting into trouble.
A Both acresses were good in the role but Alice Pearce was by far the best Gladys Kravitz. Sandra always seemed much more hostile. But they both worked well with George Tobias.
There are a few moments in the movie "Dear Heart" where Alice Pearce and Sandra Gould are in the same scene together, albeit it on opposite sides of the room in the scene.

It's pretty clear in some of the episodes with the 2nd Gladys, that Samantha didn't like her either. I prefer the first Gladys who was just nosy, not a trouble-maker like the second one.
Growing up, I never saw the episodes with Alice Pearce. I didn' know of her existence because n Chile, they never showed seasons 1 and 2. But after watching the episodes of seasons 1 and 2 in recent years,I still think that Sandra Gould was and always will be Mrs. Kravitz. She was not only funny but hysterically funny. In fact, she's in some of my favorite episodes like Double Double, Toil and Trouble and Splitsville. I absolutely love her!

If I had to choose the 5 best shows from the 1960's it would be....The Andy Griffith Show, Hogan's Heroes, The Fugitive, I Dream of Jeannie, and of course Bewitched. All excellent in their own ways. Get Smart was great too.

I had a mother and grandmother who wore a dress every day. I remember when ladies pants came into fashion, and the first ones with a front fly! Shocking it was! Ladies pants were around in the 30 and 40's, but in my 50 and 60's neighbourhood women did't wear them everyday. I remember mom in culottes sometimes when we went on vacation to the beach.

Sadly she died, and that’s why she was replaced, but I always missed the original:) I always missed the original Darrin too, but he collapsed on set in 1969 due to his back pain and producers had to replace him also. Ironically by another “Dick”. What are the odds the second Darrin had the same first name!
Let us consider for a second how perfect the Kravitz bits were. Gladys did not imagine the garage door opener nor the backyard swimming pool. The neighbour was really Samantha, a full-fledged witch. The husband-wife conversations are absolutely incredible. I live here: Ask me why!!!!!

In the episode, MOTHER MEETS WHAT'S-HIS-NAME, the "welcoming committee", including Gladys, starting snooping and judging the minute they walked in. Endora had no compunction about taking care of those kids. Sam and Darrin knew who the snoop was and they tried to keep their secret a secret. You know, if Sam weren't such a nice person, she would've taught Gladys a lesson that she'd never forget.

People in the suburbs are always minding everyone else's business. They have committees making sure no one is out of line with the color of their house, making sure that all lawns are mowed in a timely fashion, no unusual or strange looking visitors, no loud looking vehicles, no venetian blinds, etc, etc.
