@Kiril Burinskij 1st, the war with Finland was a small tiny nation against a literall union of multiple nations combine and the Fins received no help (except from Sweden) and they still manage to to cost the Soviets so much manpower and equipment to "secure Leningrad", how can Finland ever be a threat to it? The only reason why they join the Axis were to reclaim their lost territory, so the initial plan back fired 2nd, the Fins were very skeptic about the Continuation War as they only want to secure their lost land which makes German troops having a hard time dealing as the Fins would not push with the Germans, the lack of infastructure and naval blockade conducted by the Allies forces makes supplying the Fins front challenging which let to the downfall of them. 3rd, ok so your grandad destroyed Germans aircraft? Ok, thats COMPLETELY NORMAL cuz the Fins switched sides in the war remember? Twenty divisions means nothing if you cant supply them and having your allies sitting there and do nothing is just ripe for failure.

Yes, it's true, the USSR paid the highest price in this war (more than 25,000,000 lives and gigantic economic damage) to defeat fascism, there was a dead person in every Soviet family. I hope now they teach this in schools in Europe and America despite politics. Thanks to the author for the video .
@@meraxes2058 Anything can happen in a war, but my opinion is that Stalin was, of course, a despot but not a stupid person, and he understood that modern weapons were needed for a successful war. And keep in mind that the losses of the Red Army were about 8 million, the rest of the losses are civilians.

What makes me respect Soviet union so much more is that there were hundreds of thousands of women fighting alongside the men as well. There were women fighter pilots, combat medics, artillery operators. And the fact that so many soldiers (27 million+ deaths) died to turn the tide of war against germany was incredible and something to be proud of for everyone.
I assume you're similarly proud of their conduct prior to Barbarossa? And aware of the fact that Molotov worked to gain Soviet accession to the Axis up until the invasion? That the tanks & planes which blitzed through France & the Benelux were running on Soviet oil? No; Stalin was quite content with the Reich's conquests until they became inconvenient. Those same Soviet heroes were throwing themselves on Poland, the Baltics, Finland and what is now Moldova out of last for conquest. Sadly, Roosevelt & Churchill didn't have the nerve to demand Stalin agree to the restoration of pre-war borders as a condition for receiving British Enigma intelligence & American Lend Lease aid.
@@magicblanket2414 yes I am aware of that. This is precisely why Stalin didn't fully expect to get invaded by Germany. What my point was that after USSR launched the counterattack, they eliminated 80% of the German military and pushed them back out. They lost 27million+ USSR people in the process, highest death toll of any country during WW2, but germany was mostly depleted after they lost in USSR territory, and that's why the soviets will always remain heroes of WW2 in my book. Because they defeated Germany. If Hitler defeated Stalin, I don't think the western allies could have won either.

And the Soviets only signed it AFTER every other western country refused an alliance against the Nazis. The west was FINE with the Nazis, until they started conquering the wrong countries. Go look at the news articles from before the war. They loved the nazis. Just like they do right now. They were hoping they would go after the Soviets. But they got pissed when they went after the rest of Europe.

When their liberation came they didn't want to help with polish liberation of Warsaw just waiting till the city dies. @@gunnarswanson9438 The soviets had indeed a higher number and the advantage that Germany had to fight a two front war but despite that the Soviets didn't have it nearly as easy as it is demonstrated in most ww2 memes. In fact they had twice the much loses than Germany had. Over 15 M Russian died wheras "only" 6 M Germand died in total. Maybe only the 2 of the German deaths were caused by russians most of those deaths because of the huge weather advantage the Russiand had in their home land.

I did once declared war pretty early to germany as the USSR while they were invading france and they didn't put any division in the front so i rush into germany pretty fast xD
But the Soviets and the Nazis were allies during the invasion of Poland. In addition, the Red Army deported millions of Estonians, Latvians and Lithuanians during its invasion.

What makes me respect Soviet union so much more is that there were hundreds of thousands of women fighting alongside the men as well. There were women fighter pilots, combat medics, artillery operators. And the fact that so many soldiers (27 million+ deaths) died to turn the tide of war against germany was incredible and something to be proud of for everyone.
I assume you're similarly proud of their conduct prior to Barbarossa? And aware of the fact that Molotov worked to gain Soviet accession to the Axis up until the invasion? That the tanks & planes which blitzed through France & the Benelux were running on Soviet oil?
No; Stalin was quite content with the Reich's conquests until they became inconvenient. Those same Soviet heroes were throwing themselves on Poland, the Baltics, Finland and what is now Moldova out of last for conquest.
Sadly, Roosevelt & Churchill didn't have the nerve to demand Stalin agree to the restoration of pre-war borders as a condition for receiving British Enigma intelligence & American Lend Lease aid.

What my point was that after USSR launched the counterattack, they eliminated 80% of the German military and pushed them back out. They lost 27million+ USSR people in the process, highest death toll of any country during WW2, but germany was mostly depleted after they lost in USSR territory, and that's why the soviets will always remain heroes of WW2 in my book. Because they defeated Germany. If Hitler defeated Stalin, I don't think the western allies could have won either.

In fact they had twice the much loses than Germany had. Over 15 M Russian died wheras "only" 6 M Germand died in total. Maybe only the 2 of the German deaths were caused by russians most of those deaths because of the huge weather advantage the Russiand had in their home land.
