  • Phosphoric acid, chemically represented as H3PO4, is a weak inorganic acid known for its versatility in various applications.
In this video, i try to extract the phosphoric acid in coca-cola - watch till the end!
While phosphoric acid is generally safe in dilute forms, concentrated phosphoric acid can be corrosive to the skin, eyes, and mucous membranes. It is important to handle it with appropriate safety measures, including wearing protective gear.

for the record - i do not recommend purchasing beakers from Amazon. these were not the same beakers as I had purchased :D

Meh! I get all my beakers from China. They all die eventually anyway, I like to replace them as cheaply as possible instead of worrying about keeping expensive ones nice.

Make sure they're made out of borosilicate glass and use a few boiling chips :D The cheap ones are nice to get every now and then!

Yo, "drink" (with science) 2 sodas a day and "poop" it out (with science.)

unfortunately i havent developed the technology to form fecal matter from liquids. Will let you know when i do though.

the ph lowering was from the sulfuric acid. this was silly.

True, but sulfuric acid has a pH of 2-3.. He shows he ended with a pH of 1-2, therefore the goal of the video was achieved. Go back to NileRed.

@@c0ven0323 What do you mean with sulfuric acid has a pH of 2-3? pH is concentration dependent and the concentration would need to be under 5% to have a pH higher than 0.

The sulfuric acid used had a molarity of 2.0M 4.0N - farily dilute. In any case, the sulfuric acid probably did skew the results. Any phosphoric acid made would be not practical.

@BondsByMo haha all good. I'm no chemistry expert, im sure you know way more than i do. It's just a for fun video anyways. i imagine you watch Nile red? Love that dude.

@@BondsByMo HCl would be a better choice of acid as it can simply be boiled out of the final product.

I have to be honest, the "filthy chemistry" aesthetic bums me out. chemistry is a science and should be carried out in clean precise conditions if you are going to showcase it to people. i dont care if you want to slowly poison yourself but this stuff is no joke. there was once a man who synthesized LSD out of an old school bus and his work was perfect because he cared about the chemistry, not the youtube views

The stuff on the desk is from yeast for another video :). To assure you though, everything is well ventilated as can be heard in the background and there is adequate lighting (reduced in post processing). The discolouration must have been more emphasised due to the colour grading. Appreciate your concern a ton.

There's a huge difference between simple displacements of acids and synthesising an incredibly complex molecule like LSD. How many labs have you actually been in?
