    When asked why they made the movie, the directors responded "... We realized if we were going to make a film and ask an audience to give us that precious time, the only responsible thing to do in return was to blow their minds and change their lives forever. Or, at the very least, we were going to attempt that."
    I think they succeeded.

    I’ve never seen a movie that captures so perfectly what it’s like to have ADHD. Constantly pulled away to different worlds, timelines, possibilities., forgetting to live in and appreciate the moment and what you have. The 3 main characters perfectly represent the internal struggles of dealing with it, The yin/yang of the bagel and the googly eye as different perspectives on nihilism was just perfect. Just an absolute masterpiece.

    The thing with there being an "alpha" version of Waymond is very intentional on the directors' part, as well as the fact his constant escalations & withholding of information gets Evelyn into more trouble than it helps. That's why the "I'm learning to fight like you" part is so important- Evelyn was already aggro like alpha!Waymond & that wasn't an approach that could or would help them overcome Jobu.

    This movie is about generational trauma. The key to fixing your personal universe (aka life) is to address those issues by being open, aware, and honest. Evelyn is just stuck in survival mode at all times and until she gets stuck in this journey to save her daughter and in the process repairs her life; no longer stuck in survival mode (shown in the very end scene where she takes a moment to appreciate her family.)
    Nihilism vs Exitentialism is a major theme (nothing matters vs Everything matters).

    Love this movie and i'm glad it got the recognition and praise it deserved, the movie itself and the casts. Everything about it is so well done. And it isn't just a good hilarious action movie, what i liked particularly more and why it became a masterpiece for me is the philosophical aspect of it.
    It tackles existentialism, nihilism and absurdism in a very good way. The duality of google eyes (white outside, black inside) and everything bagel (black outside, white inside) is like a yin-yang or the opposite approach about existentialism. Basically Joy is the nihilistic "nothing matters anyway, so might as well destroy everything" and Evelyn is like the optimistic "nothing matters anyway, so might as well enjoy things" which she learned from Waymond's mentality of absurdity (represented by googly eyes), the idea of enjoying life as it is.

  • @fluffyfang4213
    @fluffyfang4213 Год назад +3

    To clarify the burner universe thing, Waymond mentions that she can go into the janitor's closet (without specifically telling her to do so). He then gives her instructions on what to do at the audit because he knew she wouldn't do it, but that created a nearby life path that she could easily jump to without drawing much attention.
