    I'm dead to sin. I don't need to sin. Sin has no power over me. I choose to follow Jesus.
    I choose NOT to sin
    It is finished, I'm free. Sin no longer has power over me. I don't have to be a slave to sin. This brings so much joy

      Amen! If we are in Christ, we have been baptized into His death and as such, that old sinner we used to be has been dethroned. We have been placed into the death of Christ, which is a position of victory over sin. It is finished!

      I say this in love… this is the lie Satan would have us believe, our identity is not in the sin of our old man/woman, our identity is in Christ, your are a child of the Most High God. I too struggled with Romans 6:11 but now I know we must reckon all the time that we are dead to the flesh (the old man/woman) and now we walk in the newness of life(the new man/woman) in Christ.
      Peace be with you Lisa!❤️🕊️

  • @emmausroad777
    @emmausroad777 4 года назад +11

    What a blessing and revelation. Thank you. And you know, If I can add; It almost seems likely that, unless we understand how we have been included in Christ's death, as if it were we who died, (for He suffered it on our behalf) or... If we don't get or understand who we are in Him, then how can the power of this truth help us or set us free?
    It's only when we begin to understand that, from God's perspective, we already died the death of disobedience, (yet it was Christ who did this substitution on our behalf instead of us suffering it). and if we believed in Him and accepted His substitution death, then we also are included in His resurrection too. Therefore, from God's perspective, it is as if we are already 'seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus' . We "literally" have had the victory won for us, but now must apply it with the mind or heart of faith. To believe that which is unseen, but which we believe to be utterly true, only then allows it to work for us.
    This being why many of us often struggle with and fall back into the slavery of our past life. Not because we were worse sinners, but because we did not understand this truth.
    It's like being poor to the point of starvation. Then some kind soul credits our account with 10,000 bucks, yet we were never made aware of it. We will continue to live in starvation as a beggar, even though we actually have all we need to live correctly. Only when that benefit is made know to us, will it then free us to 'not starve'. Or in reality, not live as a beggar but as a son of God.
    Again, thank you, this helped me to understand why I back-slid for a season until God finally began to bring this kind of understanding to me.

      After being baptized into Christ, which is by faith and only symbolized by water baptism, we have new life in Christ. Notice that water baptism isn’t referenced in Romans 6. The subject is baptism into Christ and into His death.

    I appreciate the teachings thru the Bible. Almost all the way through; only 2 more books to go. However, I think there is a blind spot here to the literal Greek translations & interpretations on baptism. Its a slippery slope and can become "the thing" (water regeneration) - I think that is what you are arguing strongly against. And I agree with you. Its not the water. But it is our (passive) step of faith in obedience to His command and His work to save us.

    If you did not know what baptism actually was when you got baptized, is that really a valid baptism? To me it sounds like you're saying you just got dunked on water. I know the people in Romans didn't know, but we have the Scriptures, and it is our duty to know. In Romans 3:25 it says "God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood - to be received by faith." (NIV) If we are joining him in his death, we are must have the faith that we are coming in contact with his blood. Doesn't seem very different from baptizing a baby that has no idea why he's getting sprinkled or dipped.

    • @BrockJamesStory

      I agree water not necessary you have to believe that Jesus died for your sins and if you truly believe that the Holy Spirit will baptize you into the body of Christ!

    Sin gives us a Sin Nature.
    We also have Gods nature built in us.
