  • If you are in Christ you are not free to sin, you are free from the penalty and power of sin!
The grace of God is not a license to sin. Those who think they can abuse God’s grace have a fundamental misunderstanding of what it means “to be in Christ.” If you are in Christ it means that you have died to your sin and have been given a brand new life. The life you now live is a life lived unto God. Because you have died to sin and been united with Christ, you are now free from the power of sin.
In Romans 6:1-11 the Apostle Paul corrects the false thinking that God’s grace is permission to sin freely. If you are in Christ, you are dead to sin and alive to Him.
This is a sermon from Romans 6:1-11, and below you will find the video recording, text of Scripture, and a sermon outline to help you along as you watch. I hope this study tool helps you grow in your love for the Lord Jesus and in your obedience to Him.

Sermon Title: “What it Means to Be in Christ”
    Text: Romans 6:1-11
“(1)What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? (2)By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? (3)Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? (4)We were buried therefore with Him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
(5)For if we have been united with Him in a death like His, we shall certainly be united with Him in a resurrection like His. (6)We know that our old self was crucified with Him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we no would no longer be enslaved to sin. (7)For one who has died has been set free from sin. (8)Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with Him. (9)We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over Him. (10)For the death He died He died to sin, once for all, but the life He lives He lives to God. (11)So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.”

Thank you Pastor. This message helped me see that I have not yet fully died to my sin. I have decided today, rather than hoping God will do the work for me, to finally put my sin to death...and live in Christ. Glory and honor to the Father for leading me to your channel, to hear His message.

I wish those who gives this Pastor a thumbs down would comment why. I have been subscribed to this Pastor for about 3 years. He wasn’t recommended by anyone but I know that God directed me to his channel because he speaks truth and only truth and makes it understandable. Thank you Pastor.

I'm pretty sure it's going to be those clowns that believe that you can lose salvation. I was specifically looking for a sermon on this verse for the specific reason that one person who believes you can lose salvation came to this verse. And like always. Verse always turns on them

I accept your emphasis that we are dead to sin in Christ. However, I would like you to emphasize on our death to the law too(Galatians 2:19) because THE POWER OF SIN IS THE LAW(1ST Corinthians 15:56, Romans 7:9). If you emphasize upon believers that they are dead to sin, but never tell them that they are dead to the law too, you put them into a position of legalism(they would think that they must now try to make death to sin a reality in their lives). I was actually waiting 4 u 2 tell them that the power of sin is the law(at 32:00). I believe you understand Romans 7, whose main emphasis is, I was alive without the commandment once, but when the commandment came, sin revived and I died. You see, being in Christ is neither legalism, nor licensiousness, but LIBERTY IN THE SPIRIT(2ND CORINTHIANS 3:17)
