    Making foam core wings in building process saves a lot of time. A great video demonstrating such building technology.

    We need to prepare rib template for the cut, and add something to ensure smooth rolling of the wire cutter, glue the sheeting together and ensure balsa grain run parallel to both TE and LE and sand them to same thicknes, cut the slot for aleiron caps, TE and false rib for the tube to attach to, more sanding too. All of that needs properly cut foam core, a build of wire cutter, and a flat surface(flat surface is hard to get)... I am building one, and I could have if it were balsa wing :)

    what was the paper and glue ? please.

    • @scale.soaring
      @scale.soaring  2 года назад +1

      it was regular 80gsm white packing paper and glue was PU foam glue, that will foam during cure, therefore create pressure against negative mold resulting nice finish.

    Thats interesting as I noticed you put the paper on using UNDILUTED PVA glue!!... All the other videos I have seen use 50/50 water/PVA dilution....Perhaps your way stops the paper shrinking by the water??....Thanks....Laurie NZ

    • @scale.soaring
      @scale.soaring  3 года назад +1

      Exactly, low water content means less stress on paper when drying. But less water means thick glue so possibility to use too much glue so more weight. It is compromise, but I will rather have slightly heavier build than wrapped wing.

    Zárezy do krídla pre nosník je lepšie vybrúsiť malou vysokootáčkovou brúskou ? Prečo nie vypáliť napr. pájkovačkou v tvare prierezu nosníka, či kvôli presnosti nie ? Budem mať zrejme polotovary na L-33 Solo z extrudovaného polystyrénu (rozpätie 2 metre) a rozmýšľam ako tam robiť nosný systém. A poťah je z čoho a ako - prilakovaný ? Ja rozmýšlam nad Vliesom a prilakovať ho PAMLAK-om, čo je lak na detské hračky vodou riediteľný.

    At about 2:37, what kind of paper did you use? Looks like normal white printing paper or was it a fabric?
    At 3:32you had a translucent film over the wing while it was set to dry. Also what looks like a thin film of plastic. Why?
    Nice video. I enjoyed watching it.

    I disagree with that. Compared to laser cut balsa, foam core wings takes more time to do, it needs plenty of templates, but with proper foam core building, you can built one straight wing, or incorporate twist equally for both wing. But if you are building more than one wing, foam core is faster than balsa built up, because of the reuseable templates.
