Gents, I love the pod. Big fan and I hope you’re enjoying making these as much as I enjoy watching! If I’m GM, I’m resigning CB Jon Jones as a FS. I’m signing WR Tee Higgins or WR Davante Adams to play X. I’m overpaying if I must to sign G Trey Smith 100% and taking a flyer on LT Jedrick Wills Jr (was with current Pats OC Van Pelt in Cleveland). Personally, after all this money towards offense, I’m going defense with my 1st pick. Current offense is young and defense is kinda old so I want to balance it out. Will Johnson or Mason Graham or trading back for a EDGE + assets. Also, this is the draft to go RB and the Pats have run Rhamondre into the ground- we’ll need one sooner rather than later

Quickly becoming one of my favorite pods. I know they aren’t as bad as a lot of the teams you are doing fix your franchise for (although you did the bengals) but I’d love for a niners one. They have a lot of decisions to make this offseason and I’d be curious what you guys think they could do to fix their trenches in particular.
The only nitpick I have is that, for the love of Tom and everything that’s precious and holy, please stop putting Mike Onwenu at tackle 😭 He’s a guard and struggles greatly at tackle at 6’2” or 6’3” and 360 lbs. Can’t put Vince Wilfork out on the edge 😅
As a pats fan, I desperately want an OT in round 1. There are so many more exciting picks, but it’s so clear we need a revamped offensive line. even when the team appears to be protecting the passer well, they continue to play extremely paranoid. So many false starts Sunday. It’s ugly and it’s forcing your pass catchers to look for larger chunk plays when a lot of the time they haven’t shown that ability at least on a consistent level. I will say I’ve been somewhat impressed with Douglas. Dude has juice and speed and the idea of pairing him with more of a physical WR whether in draft or tee Higgins would inject so much serotonin in me. it just makes a ton of sense. At least we have the C’s 😤
The majority of Pats fans (me included) did not understand the Mayo hiring. Almost everyone criticized the fact they didn't interview anybody and handed the job to a guy with zero experience. We've seen many rookie HCs in the league and it's pretty clear when the guy is good. Most of them start with a bad team, that's how it goes. And even with bad rosters you can see improvements, flashes, the basic things are done well more often than not. Mayo got a terrible roster and the D# lost basicly all the good players they had, except Gonzalez. So you would expect the dip in production. The alarming thing is the lack of discipline, the same mistakes being repeated almost every game and unexplainable decisions, like not putting your best CB on Puka or Kupp against the Rams, the inability to do fundamental stuff, like tackling. Van Pelt is actually the best coach of the team right now, bc Maye is improving, the playcall is getting better, even with the worst O-line I've seen in a long time. And if AVP is toping you, that's saying a lot. With all that said, Kraft has the obligation to at least reavaluate Mayo at the end of the season and if any better option is available, I'd pull the trigger, because I have no faith in him.
It does suck that bc they didn’t interview anyone else last year we can logically say we want to see if there are better options out there bc I agree with you. If they would’ve gone through a legit interview process last year we wouldn’t have to say that
Honestly all the other stuff is just noise around Mayo, the only thing I care about in judging him is linebacker play. And the linebackers have been unable to cover basic run schemes. If he can't show his players how to do something he personally could do at a great level, how is he suppose to coach anything else?
Maye was the QB I hoped they’d get. At the time of the draft. I loved the Polk & Baker picks at the time. Even some said Baker was a steal. Still not giving up on them. I’ll give them until next year. A lot of time rookie WR don’t make much of a consistent impact.
I agree that you can put the results of player development on the Mayo regime. But I'm not waiving away the great year Drake Maye has had so far in his rookie season. That is player development. The young WR's haven't been good and Polk is the disappoint there. Baker is just a big project. That's not to say that either WR can't get better. The defense has been a mix of bad luck and trading away Judon. Losing Judon, Barmore, Bentley, and Peppers for significant time would make any defense look bad. I certainly wouldn't think about getting rid of Mayo after this one year.
The worst part of the 2019 and 2024 Patriots draft classes specifically, is the glaring need at receiver. Then, they decided to trade back from pick 64 in 2019 with the Seahawks, who used that pick for DK Metcalf, and then this year traded back from 34 to 37 and took Polk at 37, while the Chargers used 34 to take Ladd Mcconkey. Two major misses
New England fan rant here. I feel bad for mayo because the situation isn’t good roster wise but he clearly isn’t ready. I get not having a shining endorsement about AVP but let me tell you guys. He’s been the best coach on the roster. It was a rough start, but he has been learning and adjusting as the season goes on. Didn’t run any motions, would leave our bad tackles on one on one blocks all game and would constantly be trying to run zone and deeper passes even though we can’t block long enough. He has changed to giving the tackles help, will incorporate motions now and incorporates quicker passes to give maye and the tackles a break. The bad coaching is on the defensive side of the ball. They constantly run zone even though it’s clear they aren’t getting good coaching on how to play zone because people have guys left open on every play drive because they don’t pass the receivers off correctly. The gap discipline is bad. Good defensive players from years past now look not good like dugger. Mayo is supposed to be a defensive guy and they play with a lack of game plan and discipline. Coaches are supposed to put players in positions to succeed and the opposite is happening. Not to mention when mayo gets questioned by the media instead of being professional and taking accountability I’ve heard multiple quotes of him blaming the coordinators and players when things go bad and is quick to take credit when it goes right. I never see him coaching players on the sidelines during games. He is overwhelmed and with a new budding star qb we can’t afford to wait for him to figure it out. The front office is also not great. You blame it on them having the control for the first time in decades but the staff is the same minus belichick. It’s not like they learned how to draft great from anyone because the drafts have been awful for over a decade now. How could you expect them to draft great because it’s the same staff that has been involved in evaluating these bad classes. The scouting quality is obviously not great I literally would have been able to do better. If kraft cares about this team he needs to invest in a completely new staff top to bottom. Front office and coaching staff
Also a pats fan here. I agree that AVP should stay and Covington and Wolf should go, but I think Mayo gets 1 more year. He has held the locker room together despite such a bad season, and knows how the building should be run. If he can't figure it out with a proper DC next year, then he's out
@ I think he can connect with the players, but I don’t think his actual football IQ is up to a high enough quality for what I think a head coach should be
@ my only thing with that is you can be as good with the locker room as you want but once players feel they aren’t being put into the best chance to succeed they will turn on you
Pats fan here. I like the sign Tee Higgins plan. 1st round HAS to be an OT. Denver isn’t letting Bolles go. My 3 Round Mock 1-Kelvin Banks 2-Jack Sawyer 3-Harold Fanning 3-Treyveon Henderson DT can be solved later. CB2 is FA Carlton Davis. Resigning Jon Jones but he loves to FS.
Get as many O-lineman as you possibly can in free agency/trade draft a Wr first round, pass rusher second round, take a couple swings on a bigger CB in mid round
Kayshon Boutte could be considered the Pats best WR right now..him and pop douglas..not even mentioned..skipped over him when talking about the draft too lol gdamn
@@TampaBayTre RB is a sneaky need for the pats. Mondre isnt a workhorse unfortunately, seems to get banged up and slows down towards the end of the season. He also has a bit of a fumbling problem
As a pats fan the "fire mayo" discourse feels unfair. but the idea of tying an "elite" offensive mind with drake is awesome and Coen would be perfect as hes a NE guy. I think it is significantly more likely that Daboll comes back as the OC. It would also be nice to have someone else on the staff with head coaching experience
Only thing I disagree with is the Javon Baker take. He's not unplayable if he hasn't played basically at all, they have to give him a chance at some point. Put Baker at the X, Pop in the Slot and Boutte at the Z and rock out so you can see if he can play
I think if you move on from avp I say Josh mccown is the guy he is a former qb very highly thought of and he has coached Drake when he was younger. That is the guy that would take this offense and Drake to another level.
Imo RKK is a problem. I never understood the decision to move on from Bill when he reportedly wanted to move on from Mac Jones after his 2nd season, but Kraft blocked it. So he had to worked with an offense which wasn't able to do anything. The defense was still top notch and the team played very disciplined.
My pats Big Board: 1. Travis Hunter 2. Tet McMillan 3. Abdul Carter (trade down) 4. Kelvin Banks 5. Will Campbell O-line is a massive need, but they just need good players, period.
Wondering on the trade front, and the Pats looking for a WR1, and all their cap room, if Jerry and the cowboys would trade Ceedee lamb , given their cap situation and somewhat rebuild that they have to do?
One thing. To be fair, Wallace has been hurt almost the entire season. I think you guys are evaluating him as if he is the starting RT. But he's been injured since week 4.
As a pats fan I feel bad for mayo because I don’t think he ever should’ve been tasked with a full rebuild and rookie qb as a rookie coach but I don’t think it gets better if you keep him another year. I really wanted us to get Adam peters as GM vrabel as coach and make Jerod DC last offseason.
Owenu needs play guard. But if you sign Garrett Bowls to play LT then you can Forsure use the first round pick on McMillian (I would be shocked if raiders didn’t take a QB which is seems like the owner is going to force this year plus the relationship between deion/sheduer and Brady). I don’t think the people in the organization have the ability to scoute and develop day 2 and 3 WR’s so you need to sign and draft two elite type guys and putting McMillian on the outside on 1 side and Tee Higgins as the prime veteran leader on the other side as the #1 with “Pop” Douglas in the slot, Hunter Henry at TE while you try to develop ja’lynn polk that’s is set up for success. You then use rounds 2 and 3 to get offensive linemen being that your LT was signed in FA
I don’t hate any of the coaching and front office hirings individually for the most part. I think they should have still done HC interviews even if he was going to be your choice. Plus I don’t agree that so many positions should be filled by first timer in the same year. Only exception is AVP except the fact he hasn’t been a play caller except for a few games or so.
I know he wasn't available in your mock but I think the Pats have to take McMillan in round 1. The top of day 2 tackle and IOL class are just so much better than the top of day 2 receiver class. If they could get out of the draft with McMillan and Wyatt Milum or Donavan Jackson that would be awesome. Am I crazy for thinking that is out of the realm of possibility? I understand when it is all said and done Milum will probably go round one but Jackson or even Josh Simmons might be there due to the ACL.
Please do a fix your franchise for the Steelers.I know they aren’t doing bad at all but I think that the lack of progression in this team needs to be fixed no more 10-7 we need a Super Bowl please do it .big fan
I'd give Mayo another year, but def bring in some outside help as assistants or coordinators. Maybe an Oline coach, cause that unit was never the same after Scar retired again.
They have Scott peters. He’s done good for what they have unfortunately this Miami game doesn’t hold water to the argument but I think peters has potential with better talent on the line.
No don’t bring back Mayo. You owe the players the chance to be coached by the best available not to be collateral for a regime that did not know what it’s doing end took a job anyway. How do you look the players in the eye and lead them when they know you just took the job offered not because you’re ready. Their careers are in the line.
@@thabiti3 yeah a revolving door of coaches has helped so many teams… you want them to be the jets? Dan Campbell had no idea what he was doing his first year now look at the lions. It takes time.
Fellas, friend of the pod and fellow draft addict. I have a video idea. I love the "fix your franchise" series and end up watching all them even though they aren't my teams. But what about something like a "maintain your franchise" for teams that don't need fixed but as a way to deep dive into more teams. Like the Commanders. What do they need to make that next step. MAKE IT HAPPEN FELLAS
Personally I believe that the offense is gonna have to improved in FA and use the draft for the defense...with Maye going into year 2 I think you need more guaranteed than potential so with Wills and Robinson for the OLine and Higgins and Godwin in the WR I think the Patriots should be looking to spend on all 4 of them and then draft an Edge rusher in round 1 and a FS high in the draft because they have missed the cover that McCourty gave them for so many years..better depth at DT would be helpful as well given how bad they have been against the run this year
What’s up guys. I was wondering would Tyler Warren Penn State TE be worth a pick for the Pats in the 2nd round kinda as a tier lower than a Brock Bowers. I think he could be another big body weapon next Hunter Henry?
Is there a good reason to not do all 32 teams? Time? I suppose that’s it, even 2 a week that’s 16 weeks. Maybe playoff teams can be done much more quickly, 2-4 in a single show? Playoff teams can be “mod your franchise, instead of “fix””. Makes for a shorter segment?
They have developed the talent Bill drafted last year that he wouldn’t play. Boutte White and Mapu are all playing well and they barely saw the field with Bill
I feel like Tee Higgins is in such a weird spot of not being a true number one WR but he’s probably the best number two in the league. (Obviously he would be a huge upgrade to the Patriots regardless)
We are signing every OL free agent for +25% their going contract rate and drafting Tet McMillan at #4 for Drake. Kraft won't pay for Tee Higgins or any premiere player.
Deebo for Bourne and a 6th if it doesn’t work we let him walk and maybe get a comp pick. Higgins is a clear target. Don’t see bolles leaving Denver but idk the cap haps. Trey smith would my top guy
14:00 This isn't a business. This is a football team. In business people work their way up ladders, months/even years of training, and promotions. Jerod Mayo has never been a coordinator and yet somehow he all of a sudden capable of being a head coach.
Pats need a pass rusher to play opposite of Keion White & another young CB to play opposite of Gonzalez. Johnathan Jones has lost 1/2 a step. Marcus Jones is probably your starting slot CB. Love to see them draft or target the following in free agency: #1 WR LT, Center of the future, a young inline TE.
Mayo absolutely deserves another year, AVP deserves another year, Covington deserves another year, Wolf deserves another year. Don’t let the short sighted fans fool you the rebuild started when Bill was fired, not when Brady left, Bill treated Brady leaving as we’re carrying on without Brady and not hitting the reset, he just went rogue and yeah drafted Mac, that draft seemed like there was hope and direction then next year completely threw it out the window by not getting any pieces there to help Mac 2 drafts in a row.. he’d trade/cut players just to create a need, refused to ever resign anyone worth keeping creating more needs, constantly putting bandaids on positions that were clearly open wounds with our Tackle depth and WR room of guys who would have been dope on my fantasy team in 2016… but it’s 2023 and they’re a shell of themselves and have retired or 5 string players now. just constantly ignoring needs for 5 years cus he’s Bill fn Belichick and I can do whatever the F I want… so now here’s our team dealing with years of 36% of players he actually hit on the drafts and players we clearly didn’t but we still don’t even know what we have in them. Thanks for 20 years of amazing play, FU for what you did to this team the last 5. So that being said This wasn’t a good team to inherit, It takes time. The bright side they have the QB, The most cap a high draft pick/ draft position. I want to see what this team does to build around Drake, give him protection, give him weapons. Mayos just himself when it comes to the media does he say too much yeah sure but he hasn’t lost the locker room and even in loses the team continues to show fight unfortunately they don’t show that fight all 4 quarters it’s usually when we’re down and trying to get back into the game the defense steps up the offense keeps us close thanks to Maye and the big plays, I Haven’t seen a single player come out and say anything bad about Mayo as a coach. The regime absolutely needs more time to get this team in shape and I believe in them to do it. In Mayo/Wolf I trust.
I'll be honest here i can't judge either coach or QB with that O-line. Its so bad. Caeden Wallace was not my preferred pick but that entire line is weak and its not giving the team the capability to even try certain things. They need at least 2 average offensive linemen to give them the chance to even demonstrate a run scheme and pass defense.
Bellichick believes in throw more darts at the dartboard. More picks means more chances of hitting. That’s his philosophy. Too bad it’s more chances to pick badly for GM Bill.
It’s been learning on the job with Mayo this year. The biggest thing to me is if he knew Kraft was naming him the HC he really should have had more of a staff in place. AVP was like their 4th OC choice. While still early, they really whiffed on the draft. Polk over McConkey. The Raiders and Cowboys got their o-line picks right. The Patriots failed on both. They need to fire Eliot Wolf and get a new GM in here. I don’t trust his player evaluation skill.
I don’t think the succession plan for Mayo was intended to be this year but unfortunately Bill kept running this team into the ground it gave Kraft no choice but to make the move. Honestly I’m glad they did. I’ve been happy with the decision, I like what coaches were brought in, and I wish people just understood the team was never that good because of what choices lead this team here, it’s not the best roster, it wasn’t the best free agency class for their key needs, their draft addressed their biggest issue team wise which was their offense. This upcoming offseason they’ve got the most cap, a high draft pick they got a real chance to turn this team around. It just takes time and to me the biggest issue was the offense going into the season the offense has significantly improved compared to years prior. We’ve mostly lost by 1 or 2 scores this year we’re still in most of these games. I think come next offseason we’re looking at a better team and probably 3rd in the afc east with maybe 7-9 wins but it’s all contingent on how we can continue to improve the team.

Cheeks to champs has a nice ring to it
I've been waiting for this light in the darkness of new england
4:04 FROM CHEEKS TO FREAKS IS RIGHT THERE BOYS
This is the one I’ve been waiting for 🙏🙏🙏
As a pats fan, I desperately want an OT in round 1.
Need to just revamp the line again, I wouldn’t be mad if they grab a guard with a top 4 round pick either
As a pats fan I actually had Caeden Wallace as a second round pick last year and was very happy with the pick.
It’s one season and the players love mayo, you will lose the locker room if you fire him
49ers fan here, I've done a few mock drafts where I trade Deebo to the Pats, Raiders, or Giants. I firmly believe they're moving on from Deebo.
I been waiting for this !! Give me banks or McMillan in round 1 and I’ll be happy
100% one of them.
If he can't figure it out with a proper DC next year, then he's out
@ I think he can connect with the players, but I don’t think his actual football IQ is up to a high enough quality for what I think a head coach should be
@ my only thing with that is you can be as good with the locker room as you want but once players feel they aren’t being put into the best chance to succeed they will turn on you
goat talk of the century!!!! 😊
Drop a hat and I'd buy the merch. Also a hoodie and probably a shirt. I'm sick 😂
Pats fan here. I like the sign Tee Higgins plan. 1st round HAS to be an OT. Denver isn’t letting Bolles go.
My 3 Round Mock
1-Kelvin Banks
2-Jack Sawyer
3-Harold Fanning
3-Treyveon Henderson
DT can be solved later. CB2 is FA Carlton Davis. Resigning Jon Jones but he loves to FS.
This was great. Too good to be true honestly
Pairing dabol with maye would be Josh Allen 2.0
Get as many O-lineman as you possibly can in free agency/trade draft a Wr first round, pass rusher second round, take a couple swings on a bigger CB in mid round
Kayshon Boutte could be considered the Pats best WR right now..him and pop douglas..not even mentioned..skipped over him when talking about the draft too lol gdamn
In the cesspool of the Patriots talent, they are the corn. They may stand out but they're still shit.
episode 1 of asking Trevor and Connor to do Rams fix your franchise
Also not sure how it happens, but Omarion Hampton will be reunited with drake and be NE RB1
If they can fix the OL more and somehow grab him round 3 I'm in
@@TampaBayTre RB is a sneaky need for the pats. Mondre isnt a workhorse unfortunately, seems to get banged up and slows down towards the end of the season. He also has a bit of a fumbling problem
Looking forward to the Colts! We need an upgrade at TE like I need air.
Might need you guys to do a version 2 of fixing the Giants
With bryce young playing good now, im waiting for that Panthers fix now lol
That’s why we wanted to wait on them a bit! But we’ll get to them
@@TampaBayTreniceee
Imo RKK is a problem. I never understood the decision to move on from Bill when he reportedly wanted to move on from Mac Jones after his 2nd season, but Kraft blocked it. So he had to worked with an offense which wasn't able to do anything. The defense was still top notch and the team played very disciplined.
My pats Big Board:
1. Travis Hunter
2. Tet McMillan
3. Abdul Carter (trade down)
4. Kelvin Banks
5. Will Campbell
O-line is a massive need, but they just need good players, period.
Finally, the Patriots!
Finally it's time!
Just two chill dudes going from cheeks to champs
That was quite literally the worst case scenario in the first 3 picks of that mock draft. The Patriots need one of Travis Hunter or Tetairoa lol
Blake miller at 83 is not a terrible pick if he doesn’t get picked higher on sheer potential. But WR is a massive need
What was Cole Strange on the consensus board?
Personally I believe that the offense is gonna have to improved in FA and use the draft for the defense...with Maye going into year 2 I think you need more guaranteed than potential so with Wills and Robinson for the OLine and Higgins and Godwin in the WR I think the Patriots should be looking to spend on all 4 of them and then draft an Edge rusher in round 1 and a FS high in the draft because they have missed the cover that McCourty gave them for so many years..better depth at DT would be helpful as well given how bad they have been against the run this year
Can we get Rams next? Feel like they are a super fun one!
Are you guys able to add a graphic for the free agents (and maybe the contracts)?
I hope he doesn’t bc tee doesn’t deserve that contract he will demand to go to NE
Please fix the Bears. They just keep finding new and creative ways to break my heart
Deebo for Bourne and a 6th if it doesn’t work we let him walk and maybe get a comp pick. Higgins is a clear target. Don’t see bolles leaving Denver but idk the cap haps. Trey smith would my top guy
Has Jedrick Wills been that bad? Figured that would be an easy pick up off the browns who won’t be able to extend, without doing something major.
Pats fan here - need Wolf long gone.
Can't wait to hear what Connor has to say about Jaylon Polk...
If Maye had taken all the snaps from the jump, by now he would be more advanced.
Dk Metcalf could be a trade option
Please talk about Jordyn Tyson from Arizona State & Woodyard from UNLV!!!
I think Albert Breer has said Daboll isn't interested in going back to New England but obviously things change.
"Cheeks to Champs" the story of the Detroit Lions
I'll be honest here i can't judge either coach or QB with that O-line. Its so bad. Caeden Wallace was not my preferred pick but that entire line is weak and its not giving the team the capability to even try certain things. They need at least 2 average offensive linemen to give them the chance to even demonstrate a run scheme and pass defense.
Bellichick believes in throw more darts at the dartboard. More picks means more chances of hitting. That’s his philosophy. Too bad it’s more chances to pick badly for GM Bill.
I think the draft is gonna be bpa rather than o-line unless they can trade down
It’s been learning on the job with Mayo this year.
I don’t trust his player evaluation skill.
yeah, i think keep mayo and fire wolf
Looking forward to the Colts FYF!
Cleveland Browns next please.
Preferably keeping Kevin Stefanski and firing Andrew Berry lol
Bolles is a nice addition, but I think I'd rather see the Pats take a hot at one of the younger available OTs like Jedrick Wills or Alaric Jackson.
Wish the progression of Boutte would have gotten more shine
Yall gonna do a fix your franchise for Da Bears??? They need it desperately.
I love you guys but we gotta take
Jalen Milroe out of the 1st qb slot for the draft simulator
Speaking for all pats fans we would loooooove having daboll to pair with maye
as with the Cowboys, fixing them starts with the owner selling or preferably dying
