Walker over Hutch is a great example of how a hype cycle based on supposed 'upside' works. Hutch was the consensus better player right up until the draft was the only game in town and then Walker suddenly started rising up boards. It's not that late risers are destined to be bad picks (see Daniels, Jayden), but it's almost like at some point people forget all the processes of study they've done during the season when the actual games are played, and they end up outsmarting themselves. This feels like the way that teams who consistently draft well take advantage - they allow teams above them to talk themselves into 'big swing', 'high upside' moves - and just wait for a more proven prospect to fall to them. Again, no strategy is foolproof - but there's a reason that teams have these reputations too.

Still doesn’t mean he was worth the #1 pick… lol. He gets double digit sacks two straight seasons, awesome. But a #1 overall draft selection looks like Hutchinson, not Walker. Great breakdown and great show. My first time seeing y'all. Love the depth y'all went into for our team. 90% of the media "pros" don't know as much as you guys were spouting off. I will say, the section about Walker over Hutchinson. Hutch from Detroit, landed with Detroit because of our choice to choose a guy that is from 200 miles from Jax. We took local talent and gave them theirs. Travon is a fucking beast and I'm more impressed with him every time he plays. While he ain't Hutch in the pass rush game, he is nasty against the run and a double digit sack season guy. And he ain't hurt atm (knock on wood). We'll take him.
Thanks for the Jags vid. After over 15 years of “how do we fix them”, it’s hard to say they can be “fixed”. There’s a lot that has to happen to make this franchise relevant. Parity doesn’t appear to be enough to keep them from picking outside the top 10 80% of the time. Not being able to keep and maximize the talent they do find has been a problem since 2010.
Love the idea for Pete for them. I have said this about a month ago to my friends that he would be perfect to build up the culture there, that is just non existent right now. Think his positive attitude is exactly what Trevor needs. It worked with Geno, with help from Canales. Get Trevor an OC who will eventually take over for Pete and can build a strong relationship with Lawrence.
Just saying, a couple years back, two Indycar drivers by the name of Scott McLaughlin and Josef Newgarden did a fun little show named Bus Bros out of their buses/RVs and it was FANTASTIC, the people they would meet whether it was fans or other drivers, made for great content. It is DOABLE.
(Stupidly long message. Apologies in advance) As a 35 y/o man who's grown up a Jags fan, I really like and appreciate the video, guys. There are some things I disagree with. I don't think Cisco will be here. He's been a liability all season on the worst pass defense in the NFL. I think Ventrell Miller is absolutely a key piece going forward. Dude is always around the ball and we love him here. I think y'all were spot on with interiors on both lines. For far too long, we've settled with mediocre to bad lines and we're sick of it. You can't win in this league, without being able to bully players in both lines. So interiors and secondary are absolutely VITAL, in rejuvenating this team. Corner and Saftey are awful. I think Luke Farrel sticks around as a TE. He's a reliable rotational TE. I think Engram has to stay at least one more year, unless you're absolutely certain you're drafting one of the top TEs in the draft. Trevor really depends on him and when he's healthy and right, he's a dangerous recieving threat. Even if the price tag is a little steep. Sherif has become to inconsistent at this stage in his career, so I think his spot absolutely needs to be bolstered with a to tier guy. Then hope Morse can give us 1 more solid year and address C in the next offseason. Bring in competition for Walker Little, but hopefully with a full offseason as a starter, he'll improve to be a halfway decent tackle. He's shown flashes of being legit good. I believe Anton is a growing player, capable of holding down RT. I believe Cleveland is good enough.. for now.. and holy crap.. I just realized how long this is.. sorry just passionate about this team. Thanks for the video guys! Y'all are awesome!
Trent Baalke is the guy who Fired Jim Harbaugh and hired Jim Tomsula, Somehow survived the Urban Meyer disaster in which at the end fans were wearing clown outfits in the stadium because they wouldn’t fire Trent Baalke, Took Travon Walker over Aidan Hutchinson, and told the owner before the season this was the best roster in the history or the Jacksonville Jaguars I just Don’t think there’s anyway you can Bring him back
You both cooked with this! Higgins Fannin, and Hunter would be awesome for this offense! Also like Lundt. Not really Jags relevant but, I am curious what both of your opinions on Kurtis Rourke are though. I haven't seen much but from what I have seen I see poise in the pocket, climbs well, (minus ohio state game, that guy had like 2 seconds every play. ) Arm strength might be questionable? I am not sure but would love to hear analysis on guys like him.
I see him similarly to what you described. Big dude but doesn’t have as much arm strength as you’d think for his frame. Throws with good touch and accuracy tho. Kyle Orton is my early working comp
I have since had a few convos with Jags fans about Cisco. I thought he was fine the last two years. I knew this was a down year but I thought it was just more overall secondary struggles. But y’all have warned me he’s been baaaad. Which is a bummer
@TampaBayTre yes which sucks cus I love the guy but he's been benched numerous times, which is even crazier when u remember he's on a contract year. Just wanted to note I've been watching this show since I was 13 and you guys rock!! Go Gators🐊🐊
As a Lions fan, I feel very confident that if DC were to quit tomorrow, the first choice as replacement isn't Ben Johnson, it's Aaron Glenn. AG isn't just a brilliant defensive mind, he's a remarkable leader of men. Whomever hires him this offseason is getting a culture creator and someone that can outscheme any OC in the league.
I love a lot of the conversation here and I agree it would be better to start with a clean slate and build a new culture. There are though some head scratching suggestions for me: 1) Pete Carroll makes no sense to me. After the failure of Tom Coughlin, I don't see them going that way. 2) Moving on from Engram and then turning around and drafting Fanning. This one more than the others baffles me. Your number one job if you are the Jags is to support Trevor Lawrence and see just how good he can be. Why take away his most trusted receiver (as well as then cutting Kirk, although I am more okay with that) to then replace them with a less athletic, more limited player in the same mold. Fanning to me is another Harrison Bryant type. If you want to draft a more traditional TE to supplement and eventually replace Engram, as you pivot in a different direction then I get it but Engram to Fanning is just a downgrade. 3) Lastly, and probably most controversial, is that I do not want the Jags to take Hunter at 1 or 2 or anywhere else. I just do not have faith in them to utilise him effectively and maximise him. He will see 2-3 head coaches in his rookie contract, be shifted around massively and ultimately wasted. This is, albeit different positions, another Kyle Pitts scenario.
As a Dolphins fan, and since you mentioned the possibility of Mike McDaniel getting fired, I'd love a Fix Your Franchise about the Dolphins. It's been tough the last 25 years
Mason Smith is good he moves people. The jags don't play him for some reason and it seems personal. Strange is also a really good TE he's still getting better. Evan is so good you can use him in the slot
Yea I agree with Maason Smith and same for TEs I feel we're set at TEs with Evans and Strange so we don't need to draft another unless you draft one late in drafts to replace Luke Farrell since he's going to be a FA.
Trade down to the Raiders for the 2nd rounder and center Jackson Powers Johnson whom the Jags should've traded up a couple spots in last years draft in the 2nd and drafted him instead of Maason Smith. So you pick swap and basically get 2 2nds.
As a jags fan, it also stems from how we run our offense. It’s very 2018 eagles which teams have figured and Doug’s weirdness of not letting Press go. Hoping we get a young offensive head coach
I think you guys need to get your eyes on Cisco this year, he has just flatly not been good. To think this safety room is just gonna be fine resigning Cisco and not picking up anything in the draft…. I don’t know about that one. Watts, Winston Jr., Emmanwori, we need a talent injection back deep something terrible.
I think it’s a hindsight take to say Hutch was the obvious pick over Walker. There was TONS of debate at the time over the order of the top EDGEs, it just depended on if you valued physical traits and ceiling vs college production and skill.
vod idea. make tweak your franchise video after each playoff round. each losing team make into one video. ideally would be able to focus on only free agency and draft for each if those teams
If you allow me to live in the Winnebago, I'll buy it and you two can take it on the road (I'll be there too though) whenever and wherever. Is that how a sponsor works?
I agree💯💯💯 I just feel like trading down from the top pick would be more than ideal. I would love to draft DT Mason Graham from that trade down if available. Him and DT Maason Smith would be a nice DT combo. Then Go OL heavy mainly Center and RG replacing Morse and Sherriff, they're too old and we need to get young hungry maulers in there. Sure I get that Jags need to fix the Secondary needing a CB and S as well.
Truly elite episode! Answered so many big things we’ve been wondering about the potential of Ben Johnson and packages for the first overall pick. I mean dang, you even got Kyle Monangai to Jacksonville which I’m a huge fan of! The wait was worth it! On the topic of a huge trade up, I had the idea of what if the Jaguars traded #33, #34, and a 2026 2nd for a top ten pick to pair Ashton Jeanty with Travis Hunter? Sounds crazy, but that would define the team for the next decade.
You guys have been spot on about everything except for one thing. Andre Cisco has been terrible this season. He was benched for the start of the game this past weekend. He actually came in and had one of his better games but he’s really been a huge let down this season.
Marvel Rivals just dropped and Trevor and Connor FINALLY dropped the Jags FYF... Life is good fellas Also love seeing the throwbacks on the thumbnail ❤
also etienne isn’t a key piece on offense imo, wouldn’t mind seeing him traded in offseason or next year being his last in jax. bigsby is a better player
Hey guys long time addict here. So much so I’ve started watching Connor on the badlands. One thing I’ve noticed is Connor never does ad reads. Does he need to go back to the tape? Still learning the playbook? Below his pay grade? Can’t trust him to not swear during them? Just curious.
Engram is a very good player...I like Parker Washington...he is a good player. Not sure Brent Strange ready to step up but he has looked much better at times this year. We 1000% need better O-Line and D-Line players.
2020's draft was terrible and was the start of the slide (which, obviously got Caldwell fired). But while Caldwell gave Baalke a bare cup, he also gave him TONS of resources to bounce back. Plenty of cap space, 9 picks in 2021 (4 in the 1st two rounds), and 12 picks in the 2022 draft. '21 draft has been OK, but it's one of those drafts that looked better on paper then than how it's actually panned out. 2022 is not quite 2020, but is really the culprit to this team's failure to take the next level. They spent a lot in '21 in FA, and their belief was that the '22 draft would supplement that core. Walker over Hutch has been talked about ad nauseum. They traded up for Lloyd, giving up their high 2nd, 4th, and 6th, who has been inconsistent at best. Because they traded up for Lloyd, they didn't have a 4th rounder and had to use their 3rd to take Fortner who they had to replace a year later with Morse. They compounded that decision by using their other 3rd rounder on Muma, who has not gotten on the field and is essentially a bench player because Baalke also signed high-prized FA Foye Oloukon, AND the Jaguars actually drafted and played Walker as an OLB in their hybrid 3-4/4-3 defense. Baalke then again moved up to the 5th to take Snoop even though he had just signed D'ernest Johnson in FA. We can go on, and on... The Jaguars had similar picks and cap space as the Lions really since 2021...and look where both teams are.
Jacksonville deserves an owner who knows the difference between football and soccer. The players deserve an owner who won’t have them playing multiple games overseas. The season ticket holders deserve to have home games played at home!
Best case scenario is trading down then draft Mason Graham. That would be ideal imo. But yea Mason Graham to go with Maason Smith would be a nice power combo at DT💯💯💯
"This is a good TE class." And you STILL don't have Elijah Arroyo graded & in the MDS (he'll be a day 2 pick). Also, you have Jalen Rivers (Miami OL) listed as OT, he's a future G (in fact finished the season at LG as well) & he's going to be a very good one (probably an early day 3 pick).
As a Jags fan I can say 2018 was the start of our downfall. Wasting a 1st on Taven Bryan & doubling down on Bortles instead of just taking Lamar. & then the Coughlin/Ramsey & NFLPA drama. Those ruined us.
Die hard Jags fan, I watch every game religiously despite our record. Trent Baalke has to go, that’s #1 most important. I’d let Etienne go, Travon Walker is a lot better than he gets credit for. And the whole defense needs completely revamped, just keep Josh Hines-Allen, Walker, and Ventril Miller instead of Devin Lloyd. Offense mainly need a better O-Line.
You finally made a "move" I vehemently disagree with: Moving on from Evan Engram. You want to have a good, 2 TE set and drafting one doesn't get you there, especially since rookie TEs rarely are ready Day 1.
This series is incredible. I really look forward to everyone of them

Great vids lads !!!
Love the Jax draft. They NEED to rebuild inside out to keep TL clean and let those Pass Rushers/CB's shine.
Two Osmo Pocket 3s, a decent wireless lav setup, some tripods, and an RV, and they'd be basically good to go.
If i was ben johnson i rather come here than chicago. But i wojld need them to fire trent baalke
Exactly!!
Just as an addict, thank you. Not even a jags fan it is just great info
Y'all are fucking cooking!
PROWLER TREVOR IN THE THUMBNAIL LETS GO
Just wish the Prowler Jerseys are permanent, so much better than the current ones.
Jags fan here love what y'all did but Cisco has been awful this year lol
There are though some head scratching suggestions for me:
1) Pete Carroll makes no sense to me.
It's been tough the last 25 years
I’d go with Coen with Spytek/Greenberg. I’d think about Jesse Minter or Aaron Glenn too. I don’t think Ben Johnson is realistic.
Only an hour and a half? Ok so we covered the backup long snapper position only I see!
Trade down to the Raiders for the 2nd rounder and center Jackson Powers Johnson whom the Jags should've traded up a couple spots in last years draft in the 2nd and drafted him instead of Maason Smith. So you pick swap and basically get 2 2nds.
Brett kollmann shivers at the thought of Jack Easterby
As a jags fan, it also stems from how we run our offense. It’s very 2018 eagles which teams have figured and Doug’s weirdness of not letting Press go. Hoping we get a young offensive head coach
As a 37 year old lifetime lions and wolverines fan, thank you, jags front office for hutch
As a Texans fan I DID NOT need to be reminded of the Jack Easterby trauma 😂
Just blindsided 😂
It's funny that you say that because I'll bet you Mac wins more games than Trevor this year
I think you guys need to get your eyes on Cisco this year, he has just flatly not been good. To think this safety room is just gonna be fine resigning Cisco and not picking up anything in the draft…. I don’t know about that one. Watts, Winston Jr., Emmanwori, we need a talent injection back deep something terrible.
4 round mock draft will feed my family for a month
I think it’s a hindsight take to say Hutch was the obvious pick over Walker. There was TONS of debate at the time over the order of the top EDGEs, it just depended on if you valued physical traits and ceiling vs college production and skill.
Needs to be a winnebago from the 70s or 80s. Have to do the full Griswold.
Can yall go ahead and run the jags front office??
New Segment Name: Hopium for the Passes
We will remember you were emphatically pointing out that Shadeur is not your #1 QB to Cam, to be clear.
vod idea. make tweak your franchise video after each playoff round. each losing team make into one video. ideally would be able to focus on only free agency and draft for each if those teams
1:26 "Instead of dope, we sell hope"
Yes 🙌
If you allow me to live in the Winnebago, I'll buy it and you two can take it on the road (I'll be there too though) whenever and wherever.
Is that how a sponsor works?
The trenches are priority for me.
Were you guys still thinking about doing some kind of "How they fixed their franchise"? you 100% gotta do the Lions if you do one of those
You guys have been spot on about everything except for one thing. Andre Cisco has been terrible this season. He was benched for the start of the game this past weekend. He actually came in and had one of his better games but he’s really been a huge let down this season.
Marvel Rivals just dropped and Trevor and Connor FINALLY dropped the Jags FYF... Life is good fellas
Also love seeing the throwbacks on the thumbnail ❤
4:07 “[talk about] some Head Coach or GM candidates if we think that that applies”
YEAH, IT BETTER DAMN APPLY! Clean that house OUT, baby!!
If the Jaguars get the first overall pick this year would that classify as a dynasty of first overall picks in the draft (3 in 5 years)
The only time I remember hearing the word winnebago was when I watch MTV's Road Rules and RWRR Challenge.
Trev….Andre Cisco has been one of the worst safeties in the league in 2024
Can you guys do the Titans?
also etienne isn’t a key piece on offense imo, wouldn’t mind seeing him traded in offseason or next year being his last in jax. bigsby is a better player
Browns please 🙏
the hopium has given me the strength to go on
Hey guys long time addict here. So much so I’ve started watching Connor on the badlands. One thing I’ve noticed is Connor never does ad reads. Does he need to go back to the tape? Still learning the playbook? Below his pay grade? Can’t trust him to not swear during them? Just curious.
Walker can't set an Edge for the 1st Rd.. Wasn't Hutchinson from Michigan and the Head Coach at that time Urban Meyer?
Engram is a very good player...I like Parker Washington...he is a good player. Not sure Brent Strange ready to step up but he has looked much better at times this year. We 1000% need better O-Line and D-Line players.
CONNOR/TREY, GIVE ME A 2025MOCK, AND MY LIFE IS YOURS
Youre hired
I’d love to see a big MeatFabric advertisement on the side of the NFLSE Winnebago as it passes me on the highway
Connor gets rock hard anytime he can shoe horn the Becton-Wirfs thing for the jets into any conversation
Cisco has been so ass this year lol
Please do Tennessee Titans next😂
Baalke was Director of Player Personnel for the 2020 draft. He should get the blame for that fiasco at least as much as Caldwell.
Travon walker is legit. If we would have grabbed him at 10th overall people would say we had the best pick of the draft
Lloyd is always out of place during pass plays. Ventrell Miller has outplayed him.
Jacksonville deserves an owner who knows the difference between football and soccer. The players deserve an owner who won’t have them playing multiple games overseas.
The season ticket holders deserve to have home games played at home!
You need to draft players from there fighting Illini who play in Champlaign
A little surprised no safety in the draft, ngl not a fan of Savage starting…. I still want a sweatshirt 😂
I think ETN is a trade candidate at the deadline next year if not before. Maybe an unpopular opinion 🤷🏻♂️
Pete Carrol here would be so sick as a neutral observer
What about taken Mason Graham number 1 if the sign a top free agents cornerback
Best case scenario is trading down then draft Mason Graham. That would be ideal imo. But yea Mason Graham to go with Maason Smith would be a nice power combo at DT💯💯💯
Gave me some PTSD mentioning the damned Jack
Id extend Kirk. Can get him for a decent price and has a good connection with Lawrence. Id extend Engram again as well.
As a raiders fan, i need a hopium supplier
Moving on from Ingram would be ridiculous y'all are crazy
You should do the dolphins next pleaseeee😅
tf lmao the dolphins are a playoff team
