Part of me says to help the indigenous tribes to help preserve their bloodline in case of natural disasters, but part of me wants to just leave them be and respect their culture.

The Prime Directive still applies, even here on our own planet. Leave them alone, we have nothing to offer them but death. But if we can learn more about their cultures without being in contact or interfering with them, we should definitely do all that we can to preserve their cultures and learn what we can from a respectful distance.

i love the ear-to-ear grin they gave this guy, considering he lives by himself and witnessed the end of his people.
It's kind of bittersweet. He probably could have never imagined that there would be all kinds of people from strange distant lands coming together to mourn his death. He had no idea that there were people who cared... To a man who lived a life full of tragedy and hardship but unlike ours at least his was truly free.

My opinion is leave these people be. Our so-called "advanced culture" is not so advanced. Many have become so technology dependent they would struggle to fend for themselves.

Yes, why should they be forced into this "advanced world"? So they can be put in a factory and overwork them in 3 shifts so they can live from paycheck to paycheck? Fun fact: the tribe in Vietnam have been persuaded by goverment since the 90s and live somewhat modernized now. The event that you talked about the scientist did happened but the elder of the tribe helped him to recover. The magic that you talked about only remained among the elder of the tribe but they still able to keep their language.

Great Britain did try and colonize some parts of South America, but Spain started the colonization of the Americas.
