I'm 1000% with you on this! Even if you don't know that Jennifer Warnes literally put up a picture of Joe Cocker on her wall after she was so awed by his performance at Woodstock. When she heard the song, she said she HAD to record this song with him, but for some reason they couldn't physically get together so the original vocal tracks were recorded separately. Videos of them performing this live are all electric. I think we could use this performance as barometer for sociopathy. You wouldn't even need to ask any questions. Every time I show this video to someone, they react in one of two ways: (1) They shake their heads at awkward movements and ugly fashion and ask me what they're supposed to be seeing OR (2) they get into it just like Joe and Jennifer, appreciating the depths that both of these performers are reaching emotionally.
The story is that Jennifer only agreed to record this if they would hire Joe. It was following a very sad part of Joe's life and career. Her love and faith in him was part of his comeback. Any recording you have of this you can see how much she loves him. Joe was a wonderful performer and if you google him and Cocker's Kids you' can find out how much he gave back to his new home in America and to people who deserved second chances. I miss him so much.
