Joe and Jennifer were an amazing duo. None like them....
The story is that Jennifer only agreed to record this if they would hire Joe. It was following a very sad part of Joe's life and career. Her love and faith in him was part of his comeback. Any recording you have of this you can see how much she loves him. Joe was a wonderful performer and if you google him and Cocker's Kids you' can find out how much he gave back to his new home in America and to people who deserved second chances. I miss him so much.

This song brings back memories of my father, a navy officer and a gentleman, met his love in my mother. They spend their lives together through ups and downs. Till death do them parts.

Could not agree more! It's awesome how she obviously cares so much about striking the perfect balance to allow Cocker to shine. It's almost as if she's choreographing the duet right before our eyes.
The sight of the intense hair-flip & red glove @3:17 is, hands down, the highlight (LMAO) of the performance. She's so completely & unselfishly into championing Cocker's performance.

That's not what she's doing bro, he couldn't read music, hence all the movement was how he kept time, he has said that. So she was looking at him to stay on HIS TIME, she was being a real professional, she knew she had to go when he went, so thus she WATCHED his mouth. Watch it again, she looks at him to get her cue of when to go, after all, its a duo.
Joe was great, and just watch the way Jennifer keeps looking at him, full of admiration.

And their voices are so strong and deep here, wow, they are really lifting you up by their singing. I have been watching and been moved by this performance for several years. Only recently did I realize this is the first time they have sung it together. It has long been my favorite, as they put life into this beautiful song. Now, just for fun I looked up their ages. Jennifer was 2 months older than Joe, and this performance was fully 31 years ago! Joe died in 2014, only seventy years old. They were both 40ish in 1992. Too young.
Two great artists whose voices totally complemented each other, brilliant song and wonderful rendition by Jen and Joe, just one of those magical collaborations sprinkled with true stardust, fantastic! Both singers at their absolute best!!.
