They are not legal in Florida .. the Florida DMV will not accept the out of state registration. Florida statue specifically prohibits UTV, ATV, and ORV’ from being operated on publicly maintained roadways. They also wrote the statue so that you cannot register your ATV, UTV, or ORV as a motorcycle to skirt the system

@@sanibelislandgirl7721 It works if your ATV is registered in South Dakota to your LLC. That way, you are legally able to operate your vehicle as if it was south dakota's laws and they cant make you register it in FL because its for a business. All states have to follow full faith and credit, meaning they have to respect the legality of it in another state. Dirtlegal does all this for you. Im currently getting my ATV registered. From our experience that is rarely enforced. We do offer a way around it by registering the vehicle under an LLC, this way you have no legal obligation to transfer the tag to Florida because the vehicle will be owned by an out of state LLC and not a FL resident.

@@DirtLegal after reading the registration requirements in Florida I do not think that would work anyways. You are still required to register your vehicle within 15 days if you’re a Florida resident and the vehicle is being kept in Florida. You’re banking on a lack of enforcement, but on the west coast they are really cracking down on this. If I’m not mistaken dirt legal is registering these as “ motorcycles” Florida statute states that a motorcycle may not have more than 3 wheel on the ground. So that would not apply either.

@@DirtLegal I understand, but how do you get around the statue stating that no ORV, UTV, or ATV can be operated on a public roadway, and that a UTV or ATV cannot meet the state requirements to be a motorcycle. I’m not arguing with you I’m genuinely interested to do this. Our states attorneys office for the 14th district has said to us that these cannot be operated on the roadway, that none of the loopholes close the fact that the vehicles do not meet the DMV’s required standards. She said “you can call it what you want, but In court she will ask for the certificate of origin which will show what the vehicle was intended for” . I see our police stop and tow these UTV’s with South Dakota tags at least 5-6 times where I live.
