Oh gosh that made me laugh when that snapping turtle munched on you catch. That happened to me on a small untamed lake in Northern Ontario. I had got to camp late but still wanted to fish so as darkness descended I fished from shore and caught three nice pickerel. I thought, great, I'll have them for breakfast next day. So I left them on the stringer in the water, really only worrying that maybe a bear might smell them...never even occured to me a bout snapping turtles. Next morning, looking forward to a yummy fish breakfast, I pulled my stringer out of the water only to be met with just the heads left of the fish still attached to the stringer...never repeated that mistake again. 😂
Somehow I've never had an encounter with one of them before this trip. Usually I catch fish in the canoe and fillet before I get back to camp, so maybe that's the reason?
LOL, That turtle was giving you the stink eye. I just know if he didn't fill up on that walleye, he was coming for you next! Loved the light you caught at the end of the day, so many amazing landscape shots.
I was a bit paranoid about going for a swim later that evening. I can't imagine what it would be like having that guy attached to your leg, trying to pull you under.

Not only did that snapper steal your walleye, he had the audacity to eat it in front of you.
Incredible trip so far, makes me want to go myself this summer. Looking forward to the rest.
