On knives with carbon steel blades, after sanding, degrease the blade and then try immersing it in white vinegar...Check it and turn it over periodically, and you should end up with a patina like that 1980's vintage knife shown on the video..
Most of my knives are 15-20 years old. I bought a new 14” a few years ago and detested it until I thought to take the sander to it. Wish I’d have seen this video before then😄
Older 12-14” knives seem to have been intentionally concave to help avoid lines. Just had to remember which side to use. Newer knives don’t seem to have that. Is it possible to add a bend? How would you do it?
It’s not super important what grit you use. I just picked up a sanding sponge that was broken in and they’re less aggressive that way. It was probably about 100 grit. And yes I do the same thing to a stainless steel knife. Thank you. Guy
Do u cut 6 inch knifes. I use a chop saw to cut off just a bit, the new ones are just to long, and i cant get used to them , I been taping for 15+ years

Merci pour la démo
It's unfortunate that the premium drywall knife companies don't do the sanding step you show when they sell their drywall knives.
Muchas gracias 🙂! Suscrito.

6 inch knives shouldn’t have a bend. With larger knives you can usually just bend them carefully by grabbing the rib area at the bottom of the blade
What grit and what do you do with stainless steel knives? Neither of these questions were answered.

No I would never do that. I’d like the flexibility and the reach.
I’m from Massachusetts ,most of the guys i know cut there 6 inch 🔪
Do use your knifes oneside or both
Two sides of these knives of 6 inches and smaller and one side on the other knives
@@3MinuteDrywallSchool ok 👍 so 6" or smaller doesn't matter/both sides and the bigger knifes one side? .. thanks really appreciate 🙏
Angle grinder + 40 grit flap disk
