For the dining credit, do not wait till the last couple of days in the month to use it. It can take 3-4 days for the charge to hit the card and you can lose the credit for the month.
🍔 The monthly credits are definitely becoming more and more annoying to me as I hold this card over time. However, you definitely need to be sure you would naturally use these credits BEFORE applying because if not, you could easily get a no-annual-fee card that gives you more value. You can pretty much forget the lounge access as Centurion lounges and Delta SkyClub lounges are in the near future instituting major access limits for AMEX Platinum members.

My girlfriend and I also use the dinning credits for Shake Shack. I stack my Plat and Gold, while she uses her gold. We pay between .60 cents to $10 for our meals combined 🍔

I love my AMEX Gold and plan on keeping at least for one more year. The only thing that bugs me with the $240 on dining credits is that I wish (ideally) that they would give us the $240 immediately for us to use. The fact that it’s spread out in monthly $10 credits is annoying and it somehow forces you to use the credits or lose them. Thankfully, I naturally would use the credits anyway, so it works out. I honestly reach for this card like 85-90% of the time for dining and groceries even though I can earn 5% in those categories with other cards… I’d rather earn the MR points! 😂😂
Exactly! I always wondered- as a student I have the Discover It card with 5% rotating categories. From Jun - Sep it was 5% back on food, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to use my AmEx or my Discover as my dedicated food card. I couldn't tell which one was better!

I currently have the AMEX Gold and the Capital One Venture (Im going to upgrade to the Venture X soon, Im already pre-qualified) cards. And when I do order out, the places I usually go add a premium of $2-3 for uber eats pickups, so I'd still be losing out. It's a shame because the multipliers are really good. I have the SavorOne card, so with those multipliers, if I can't get the AmEx Gold credits, I'd need to spend a lot on eating out and groceries to make up for the AF.

Except earning Mr points. This card is not good. Many other cards give almost equal points. This card is worth if you are a high spender and have other amex platnium.

Trust, you won’t hurt your chances. Once you spend to hit your bonus on gold and keep spending after that. Keep it payed off and in good standing and Amex will love you. September of ‘21 was when I got my first Amex (BCP), October‘ 21 applied for gold and approved. Some places will charge a substantial premium via apps (10% to 20%) to make up for Uber's cut. In areas that have more tech-reliance and with a lot of food options, that cut is closer to 0% to 5%. The restaurant still makes margin on you, but just less :)

Normally it only cost me $27.99 for 18 pc ck wings with UberEats monthly , now it costs me $33. They raised more than 17% . That’s crazy.
