I think it's gimmicky. If it were not, they'd have used fresh bamboo; the one they actually used looked like it had been reused repeatedly. That being the case, it would add little to the taste. It was more for the optics.
I trust both of you more than Michelin. This is because in today's world where we want openness and transparency, we don't know who is the people behind as the Michelin inspector. It could just be someone who doesn't know how to cook and think he or she is some kinda food expert. When you have a mouth to eat it doesn't automatically makes you a food expert, nor when you have a smartphone it makes you a photographer. Your experience as a HK restaurant operator and cook brings more credibility and openness. Your ranking and opinions have more integrity.
I mostly agree with you (including a healthy scepticism of Michelin's assessment methods). But there's a wee bit of detail that argues for someone "who just eats and doesn't cook" to be just as legit an arbiter of food. (Disclaimer: I do cook.) As the saying goes, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. That speaks to the heart of the matter: deliver! In the real world, haven't we all encountered people who talk a good talk but can't walk the talk? That's why we have just "eaters" to judge cooking/food. This school of thought says "lovely story, bro, about the ingredients and your cooking magic but somehow the result doesn't quite square with your epic story". So, I would be more equivocal and hold that it's important to have real chefs' opinions, but I wouldn't subscribe to the absolutism that non-cooks are less than legitimate arbiters of good food.
Have tasted quite a few from Bangkok to KL but to be frank, not all up to expectation. Food is a personal taste, what may be delicious to u, may not be for others. So you be your own personal Michelin guide. Anyway after all d stars given, price is bound to increase😂

客家擂茶健康食物不是很普遍的食物不是很多地方有買,河婆村就很多為了複合市场口味現在的擂茶味道已經沒有這麼苦,我很好奇他的味道有沒有這么传统
其實本地的擂茶已經改良了 不苦 符合大眾 我吃過發源地廣東揭西河婆擂茶 味道絕對不是一般人能接受 這說明了擂茶為何不能在大陸甚至世界華人區普及 好像只有馬來西亞比較受歡迎 因為改良了 不是正宗的
Actually, Ipoh clay pot chicken rice K10 is the best. Michelin should explore Ipoh or other place.
Ipoh has been the gourmet centre of Malaysia for decades. For Michelin to have gone KL and Penang, and not Ipoh; that's a bit remiss of them.
