My Helium Mining Experience Three Weeks Later

- At the started of October 2021 I began mining HNT crypto currency using helium hotspots. Every week I have synced a new hotspot and started collecting HNT. I've made almost $600 three weeks later. I monitor the process through hotspotty.net/
#helium #hnt #heliummining
$500 with 4 hotspots, I miss back when there were only 25k miners.
Seems like too few to beacon. I'd go with 150K properly optimized miners.
I'm wondering. For your house. What is the distance from your house to the farthest point of your beakon?
These days I don’t remember. I changed. I wanna say 58km.
Wondering if a 3dbi would kill on that 2nd house ....
Doubt. I tried a 5.8 and an 8 and 8 was better.
Hey, great video. I was thinking about sticking some in my rentals, lol how did you sell it to your tenants?
I told them I was paying for their internet. They were happy.
@@DoItJustinKace lol good shout need to make sure I'm going to be making enough from those miners to make that commitment
@@lhefe85 I do a compare with the hotspots around the area. But I agree. This is why I’m hesitant to recommend for a landlord I’m helping in Detroit.
@@DoItJustinKace exactly how I got many neighbors in my city to agree!
How in the H are you getting 500+ beacons over a week? I am getting MAYBE 40
is possible different user in same house with less then 300 meter distance? is they will connect other devices that are far away from my house? mean that me and my brother want to take 2 devices but i don't know to is they will connect other devices that are away from my house. but in my own house they will work fail or work like normal i can understand
i am getting shitty beacon with stock, 8dbi, 10dbi antenna even with port forward.
Bad area?
Any good pitches(scripted) to convincing your neighbors.
This is super helpful, thanks. Just ordered my first miner, so I’ll stay tuned for more videos from you.
This ^^
@@isaacwalberg4978 Received my MNTD gold spot on Thursday, and already earning HNT 🎉🎉🎉
@@esalenchik How much have you earned so far? Im going to order the same one
Making HNT yet?
@@DoItJustinKace Up 29 days now and we’ve earned just over 3 HNT, half of that in the last week with our new 8 dBi antenna. Had it in the attic, and got it on the roof yesterday on a 10’ pole so total is 9 meters. Earned .4 yesterday after that 😃 Trying for another goldspot in Dec for our warehouse a few miles away 👍🏼it has a 25’ roof peak so it will be a very tall installation.
Learned a lot... and so many fun examples. Seeing how the varied toplogy affected HNT... so cool! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, I didn't realize how big an issue elevation can be until you visually see the results.
Thought that looked like the front range. I'm building my own network up near winter park as there are only a couple up here. Also putting one at a friend's in Aurora where there is an open hex. Thank you for the videos
"only" 71 whitness, dude I got 0....
That kind of coverage makes all the other helium miners envious.
It's gone down sadly. :(
how many miles do you reach out to?
thanks, the info, examples and explanation helped. I can compare to my area now especially judging heights and transient scales. Really convincing, thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Yup , I’m one week in , making $10 a day with one
With only 1 miner ?
@@pauliuspuodziunas9733 yes
I had a Mtn Dew commercial during your video
Really? Damn I have never seen one watching RUclips.
Where did you order your Antenna?
RAK mainly. Depends.
Just ordered my rig. Pumped to get it setup. One concern about outside is length of cable. Even with LMR-400 still a decent chunk of transmission loss.
No I'm getting convicted issues about too many hotspots in one area. One guy says you want more minors because you get more lottery tickets. More tickets meaning you're more part of the equation you're more likely to get your h&t. I have another guy saying if you have more than one minor per spot you're having your h&t and you're more likely to share so if you have more than one minor you should spread it out find different locations.
Great video! I just setup my sensecap m1, how long does it take to sync becuase I set mine up last night and Ive been earning some hnt but on the helium explorer it says its still syncing. Any feedback? Thanks.
How long a 8dbi antenna can reach being at 20mtr high ?
Area is much crowded but no any hotspot around 10km area.
Thank you for sharing your experience about your Helium mining venture. Very helpful for us newbies. New sub here from Manila.
Where I live has one of the lowest coverages in the nation lol fml The few people in my town I'm looking at on hotspot make like 0.1 HNT a month lmao
Solid vid
If I get one would you help me out with it ? I’m from Denver
Always happy to help out. We should get a group going out here.
@@DoItJustinKace I'm in Denver and would be down
What do you think about buying the deeper connect HNT miner ?
This is going to be so massive it’s def at its infant stage!! This is freakin nuts!!!!!! 🤯. 🚀
you should really use a directional antenna with the first hotspot you showed.
Thanks for the video, I’ve learned a lot as I’m considering to get involved.
What do you think about the bobcat miner 300?
It sucks. Sorry but everyone has issues with it.
@@DoItJustinKace do you still use it? If so, what do you mine with it?
How many gigabytes of internet is needed for 3 weeks?
What brand miner have you got for the other miners? or are they all the same brand?
RAKs and sensecaps.
👍
So if POC11 will reduce power , will that make directional antennas useless? Or is there a 3dbi directional antennas?
POCv11 will only reduce power on anything above 9dbi.
Very useful thank you.
Are these available in UK?
I was really interested in them as well till seeing in their docs they want you to open up port 22 ssh, you may as well just hand a linux laptop to a hacker and sit him down on your couch lol. That and the fact that AREA 51 has one of these things in it lol.
I feel ya. I was fine with 44518. But that's it.
So do I have to get different antennas than the one that comes in the MNTD box? I just bought my first one and am a bit confused now.
YES! if you wanna make better rewards.
Bet! 8dbi antenna ordered!
How do I turbo sync my sensecap m1 minor ? Any help will be much appreciated.
Videos for that are abundant. Just do a search. I'd try, but I need to get data from the side of the device and it's sitting in an outdoor enclosure.
Haven't heard anyone talk about what happens to your miner after 1 year or more, how reliable is the hardware?
Would be great to know. Only had them 2 months now.
Hi Justin. What brand of antenna did you install for Long Marmalade Shrimp? Thanks!
Look at my antenna video.
He says it was his fault for the hotspot going out but his wife unplugged it lol. Thats yall money
Yeah, but she didn't know what it was for.
Damn that good earnings what state ? I just got my email it coming !
Denver.
How do you turbo sync it??
If you face the antenna direction to the green you’ll gain more
When that area is 50 feet above my roof? Probably not.
There are no other helium hotspots in our area is it advisable to get in helium miner?
No. Unless you can get 12 miners up around you. The. You’d be making money on both ends.
So how many HNT are you getting per device on average?
You’d have to look at my most recent video that talks about the last month.
How do you get the elevation heatmap with the colors on hotspotty? When I go on hotspotty it doesn't show me that at all.
Go to the cog in the top right and turn on elevation contours
@@DoItJustinKace Thanks 👍 and wow I’m in a really flat area lol guess that could be a good thing since most miners are pretty far from me. Might change my 5.8dbi to an 8 now
Totally. Flat is good.
I ordered mine since April they haven’t arrived yet
Mine was in late June. So I’m guess I won’t see mine for a long while.
Great video. Can you please provide a link to where you got the Directional 8Dbi antenna?
Look at the description on my antenna video.
Hi sir what's the difference between bobcat and linxdot?
That’s like asking the difference between two different toasters. That said, I don’t own either. Although I believe you can still order bobcats. I don’t know about linxdot.
Nice just ran across this vid. I'm in Estes Park and thinking about getting into this.
How many hotspots in the area? What are good setup making?
Hey nice update to your experience. What 8db antennas have you been using? What have you tried and hasn't worked?
RAK wireless 8dbi antennas. I tried some unknown brand off eBay that were 5.8dbi and they didn’t work out. You should watching my antenna video.
Thanks for the great video! What would you suggest for maximum rewards if you don't have a roof to mount an antenna on and you live on a lower level in a building?
Generally speaking not every place is going to work. And that's one of them. But if you are allowed to put an antenna on top of the building, Maybe a Rokland 10 dbi and LRM400 cable all the way up. The cable will reduce the signal by at least 2dbi, so you can claim an 8dbi antenna.
What if you tilt the antenna so it will look uphill?
Sure. Up to the sky when the land becomes flat again.
I ordered 2 x Bobcat 300 miners and installed 1st one. Did I hear you right, you installed your 8 dBi antenna in your attic? Thanks
Just fyi you cant have 2 bobcat 300 in the same house, it suggests having a 300 meter gap between each one.
yep, Attics!
is your miner connected to wifi or ethernet
Both. Depends on which and my situation,
How much did u pay and what model?
You mean when I overpaid for a helium hotspot?
does every one of them need internet connection?
Yes. from their own public IP address.
Try angling the antennae so that the higher elevations are within the band of coverage.
I ended up just moving to a directional antenna.
5 months waiting for my one.
I feel ya. I bought 5 bobcats in June. Someday they’ll show up. Maybe 20 weeks total?
Hey, thanks for the video. Do you think 5mbps internet dedicated only for the miner would be sufficient to perform at the most optimum level? I am wondering if the speed could impact the reward.
Speed has nothing to do with it. I actually have a 5mbps dedicated to a remote system I’m testing and it works fine. Helium does 15-30gb of data a month, but at like 128kbps. So a really small bandwidth is fine.
Nice shirt. Fire Up Chips!
You know it! Class of 97!
Did you upgrade your cable to a low loss cable? Something like an LMR-400… every bit of loss matters
The outdoors ones are only 10ft and yes, are LMR-400. So very limited loss.
@@DoItJustinKace thanks for the response. Just getting myself started with Helium and wanted to ask
Hey man, awesome video...question; when putting them in your rental houses, what are you mentioning to the tenants, and are they generally cool with it? I ask, because I too have rentals. thx!
It really depends. Are you giving them free internet? Then probably yes. Are you over once a week to fiddle with your antenna. Then probably no.
@@DoItJustinKace Cool…we do supply internet, yes! So that wouldn’t be a factor…more or less curious what you say to them or what they typically think as they may be just wondering what the heck is going on with these antennas/box and what not 😆
Where do you buy your antennae?
I get mine from RAK Wireless, but Rokland is starting to interest me.
Question do you have to connect the miner to ethernet
It needs internet access. But that can be done via wifi.
@@DoItJustinKace can they be set up to be repeaters
Love the channel and the hnt material ! I got my first one and plan to put them on all of our rental houses too! Thanks again and greetings from Alaska !
Oh wow. You in Anchorage? Seems like you have to be to make any HNT at this point.
@@DoItJustinKace yes I’m Anchorage . There’s not very many hot spots here yet. I have only had mine running for 3 days . It almost made 1 hnt. Goldspot with the antenna is came with . Im going to upgrade next week. Thanks again for the great info
So I should just buy a 8dbi
I’d need to know more about your placement situation.
I just ordered a few miners. Many of the miners around me have an 8dbi or 5dbi and they seem to be making the most HNT. I ordered an 8dbi to be on the safe side.
is hotspotty just basically a way of keeping track of all ur owned hotspots in one place?
No. It’s also good for researching locations for new installations.
You can put it in your car and pick the best spot.
