This song is actually brilliant, I love it , the whole record is great , especially considering how old these gentlemen are and all they have been through
The incredible thing is that they already had (and created) this style 50 years ago... they could have played this song in 1970 as well. Now it sounds more aggressive because modern amplifiers are more powerful than 50 years ago, of course, but the style has remained exactly the same. My favourite band together with Iron Maiden. Greetings from Italy.
I just absolutely love Ozzie. He's amazing. He takes me back to my childhood in the 70s now. It was a great time to be alive and the music was much better.

To do this 45 years after their debut is unreal . The longevity of musicians from the 60's and 70's is why modern music will never reach the heights of classics . The closest I've seen in modern days being a kid born in the 90's is bands like Green Day and the Foo Fighters still going in their early 50's when I remember growing up with their music .
That is actually nothing so special, keep in mind that Black Sabbath was founded in 1968, (51 years ago from 2020). Charlotte and iron lung are youngsters compared to them :D
I'll never forget how excited I was before this came out. It blew me away the first time I heard it and thought "they've still got it" Love Black Sabbath
There were many guitarists and there will be many more, but I am not sure if any of them could approach Iommi's riffing's skills. This man's the art of riffing itself!

Once again a METAL MASTERPIECE !! Heavy tri-tone notes/riff and lyrics that are timeless in regard to the human condition and how we are and will always be. God created us to be like him but we fall short and treat each other like crap out of greed and power. Sad but true.
Ozzy did come up with the title name God is dead for this song but Geezer wrote the song around it. At first Geezer told Ozzy that they couldn't use it as it would upset to many people but Ozzy said fuck it lets upset them so Geezer wrote the song.
I don't know how to describe it at all because I have zero background in music theory but Ozzy has a quality about his voice that is very unique and feels so alive, and paired with the super prevalent bass it's a sound that is so visceral and again ''alive'' is the best I can describe it. It's really great music
First song I hear was "Children of the Grave" at age 7 in 1972. Not just scary, but deeply disturbing, yet, later, somehow comforting. That was the beginning of my rebellion against authority and the war machine (I was a strange kid - now an old fart wondering why I'm still alive).

+Matt Elrod Sabbath wouldn't be Sabbath without any of the original members. Like when Dio replaced Ozzy, Dio was an amazing singer but they didn't sound as dark as Black Sabbath should.
its not black sabbath without bill ward
.. sounds like it was written in '73 .. Epic!
Davok That’s why I love it so much!!
Maybe it was!
Timeless.
no
It's not Ozzy that needs to repent
"I don't believe that God is dead" Most powerful line in the whole song. God bless you Ozzy, and Black Sabbath guys🙏
as much as I love the riffs and chord progressions of this song (and I really love it), I love even more Ozzy's voice, the way he sings it, and how the lyrics are perfect for how Ozzy sings. I'm pretty sure this is my favorite lyrical and vocal song Ozzy has ever been a part of.
I love it when he says, with God and satan by my side, from darkness comes light.
Totally agree with you 👌

So Epic.
Its called blasphemy
Cool
This is prolly my most-played Black Sabbath song for past few months. What a Legend band!
This song is actually brilliant, I love it , the whole record is great , especially considering how old these gentlemen are and all they have been through
This song is frickin great! Ozzy still rocking after 51 years🤘
The incredible thing is that they already had (and created) this style 50 years ago... they could have played this song in 1970 as well. Now it sounds more aggressive because modern amplifiers are more powerful than 50 years ago, of course, but the style has remained exactly the same. My favourite band together with Iron Maiden. Greetings from Italy.
Better sound mixing technology (although, I miss that reverb - it made things a bit darker sounding)
I just absolutely love Ozzie. He's amazing. He takes me back to my childhood in the 70s now. It was a great time to be alive and the music was much better.
What an inspiring song on war and death, easily one of my favourite songs!
Y’all failing to notice that the title ends with a question mark, which means that Ozzy is asking if God is dead rather than just flat out saying that He is dead
because that's our higher self still questioning the truth just the fact that our brains doubt it with that thought is still fascinating
Ikr bet they don't know Ozzy is a Christian too lol
@@jacobthrasher6573 Protestant
He's specifically Protestant
Ht song is about someone doubting their own faith, that's why it has a question mark
More like sarcasm question when he knows he’s not. But you’re right
The best band in history - Black Sabbath
Very true,I have this on Rocksmith remastered and play the shit out of it!
I think I know better bands. but few songs of Black Sabbath are really good. Whatever i can mantion them: God is dead?, Childrens of the grave, Paranoid.
sabbath zeppelin and the beatles.
Period 🤘🔥

13 is such an incredible album, just banger after banger. Lyrics are also relatable personally and to the current state of the world.
♤LYRICS♤
Lost in the darkness
I fade from the light
Faith of my father, my brother, my maker and savior
Help me make it through the night
Blood on my conscience
And murder in mind
Out of the gloom in rise up from my tomb into impending doom
Now my body is my shrine
The blood runs free, the rain turns red
Give me the wine, you keep the bread
The voices echo in my head; is god alive or is god dead?
Is god dead?
Rivers of evil
Run through dying land
Swimming in sorrow, they kill, steal, and borrow; there is no tomorrow
For the sinner will be damned
Ashes to ashes
You cannot exume a soul
Who do you trust when corruption and lust, creed of all the unjust, leaves you empty and unwhole?
When will this nightmare be over? Tell me!
When can I empty my head?
Will someone tell me the answer?
Is god really dead?
Is god really dead?
To safeguard my philosophy
Until my dying breath
I transfer from reality
Into a living dead
I empathize with enemies until the time is right
With god and satan at my side
From darkness will come light
I watch the rain as it turns red
Give me more wine, I don't need bread
These riddles that live in my head; I don't believe that God is dead
God is dead
Nowhere to run
Nowhere to hide
Wondering if we will meet again on the other side
Do you believe a word, what the good book says?
Or is it just a holy fairytale and god is dead?
God is dead
God is dead
God is dead
God is dead
Right!
But still the voices in my head are telling me that god is dead
The blood pours down the rain turns red, I don't believe that God is dead
God is dead
God is dead
God is dead
Ur hella years late

This is a wicked song by Sabbath...oh man gives me goose bumps I always loved Black Sabbath and Ozzy Since I was a child, blasting it daily, Ozzys Voice is Awesome Medicine for my Krazy Brain...So Soothing to my Ears 🤟😎🤘
Ozzy is such a good singer. Never gets old.

Geezer is the destroyer
To do this 45 years after their debut is unreal . The longevity of musicians from the 60's and 70's is why modern music will never reach the heights of classics . The closest I've seen in modern days being a kid born in the 90's is bands like Green Day and the Foo Fighters still going in their early 50's when I remember growing up with their music .
Ozzy still rules and that's from a 51 year old metal head for life.

Thank You. Good job. Looking forward to your company, ersrwhile and anon.
Yep 48year old metalhead here as well. 👍🎸🎸👍
That is actually nothing so special, keep in mind that Black Sabbath was founded in 1968, (51 years ago from 2020). Charlotte and iron lung are youngsters compared to them :D
I'll never forget how excited I was before this came out. It blew me away the first time I heard it and thought "they've still got it"
Love Black Sabbath
There were many guitarists and there will be many more, but I am not sure if any of them could approach Iommi's riffing's skills.
This man's the art of riffing itself!
Absolute masterpiece!
I know right . I was reading comments on reddit from when this was released and people dissing it I was beyond shocked are they deaf or what the writing, Ozzie's vocals are sublime it's lyrically genius . How can anyone hate on this? Are they honestly alright in the head
to think, this song came out when i was 8. i've always liked sabbath and other bands but to think they're still making absolute bangers in my time is truly incredible.
This song mean so much to me as i see the world differently 🤘🏿
All hail the mighty Sabbath!
The Last Black Sabbath Album with Ozzy was " Never Say Die". This Album is Awesome. I Miss.Bill Ward. This Drummer is Very Good. Great Album.🤘🤘 Ozzy, We Hope You Feel Better.

That is the operative question as to "who in their right mind would dislike this song?" The answer is quite obvious. They're not in their right mind.

Tony, my Lord of riff... God bless you, Ozzy and Geezer. Love from Italy 🖤🤘🎸
Really God of riff seriously not true false

Geezer and that bass is back!!! F**k Yes!!!
+bflo1000 Yes they are. I just love Geezer ' s style of playing. It's like his instrument is a part of his body. My favorite bassist of all time
+bflo1000 Absolutely. I love the doom, scary sound. Enjoy your weekend.
P.S. my baby brother is a brilliant bass player in a death metal band out of Cape Cod. They're pretty well known.
Once again a METAL MASTERPIECE !! Heavy tri-tone notes/riff and lyrics that are timeless in regard to the human condition and how we are and will always be. God created us to be like him but we fall short and treat each other like crap out of greed and power. Sad but true.
This song is fucking incredible. Black Sabbath is still the greatest band of all time.
Happy birthday Tony Iommi! One of the best and one of the most influential guitarist!🤘🤘

Ozzy has a voice that nobody will have just like kurt Cobain I've listen too him my whole life. He's still the best
Well, almost all big bands’ lead vocalists’ voice are unique. Like freddie, axl, kurt, ozzy, james, chester etc.
And Chester Bennington!
Also Layne Staley, that voice was so fucking unique
If you look at it, all singers havd unique voices!

"Out of the gloom I rise up from my tomb into impending doom, now by body is my shrine." IS STRAIGHT UP POETRY
yes...a vampire's poem
Extreme talent.
Me after learning for 5 hours the night before the exam:
When will this nightmare be over? When can I empty my head?
😩
Ozzy has a way of putting together lyrics that describe modern times.
He didnt write those himself
Ruiner Winkler ozzy wrote none of the lyrics, correct me if I’m wrong but the bassist wrote all the lyrics and had the tastiest bass licks!
@@mrdisorderly1852 im pretty sure he wrote methademic but thats it as far as i know
Geezer Butler wrote the lyrics.
Some great riffs in this track.
14 to 16 ruclips.net/video/-HFcho_sH24/видео.html Any good?
This song scared me as a kid
Especially the opening riffs and ozzys initial verses
Sabbath for life🤘
First song I hear was "Children of the Grave" at age 7 in 1972. Not just scary, but deeply disturbing, yet, later, somehow comforting. That was the beginning of my rebellion against authority and the war machine (I was a strange kid - now an old fart wondering why I'm still alive).
Шедевр! Все идеально. Текст, ударные, ритм, соло, и конечно же бесподобный вокал! Настоящий хэви метал от мэтров жанра.
Especially the text, so Stalinist - satanic.

Of coarse Ozzy wants the wine, and leaves us with the bread. Or Geezer, works both ways, I guess.
Damned
"Give the the wine you keep the bread" absolutely love that line.
Do u understand what he is referring to?
Jesus said do this in remembrances of me as they passed around a plate of bread this is my flesh and they passed around the wine and this is my blood. Or something like that.
the holy communion that represents Jesus sacrificing his body and blood?
The wine was Christ's blood, his physical sacrifice, actions and suffering, the bread his body, the church, what was left behind.
