Great video and all but being a mechanic myself if you take a little bit of time you can remove that plastic cover from the front of the actuator and it’ll turn an 1-2 hour job into a 20-30 minute job.

Great video! Literally had the same problem with my 2012 explorer on the passenger side except it was stuck on cold. Made a video about it last fall. My wife was frozen all winter and the defrost only worked for driver. It's such a pain to get those screws in and out.

Put a candy plastic wrapper on bolt then put it in the socket. It will hold the bolt in

Does it really need the second screw?? Seems to work fine without it, and next time (because there always is a next time with these things) it will be easy.. thoughts?

Hey question. So I got a 2015 explorer and the heat not working for passenger side and the defroster not working at all. So I obviously need to replace that actuator u just replaced but do I also need to replace a different actuator for the defroster?

Sorry I hadn’t seen this comment earlier. You may need to replace a different actuator as well but check fuses as well

The defrost actuator is located on the driver side. I had to remove the instrument cluster and use one or two wobble extentions to get the top bolt out. May have to move the wire loom some as well. Got the other bolt from the bottom. Can't remember if there was a third bolt or not.

By chance do you have the part number for the actuator you replaced? I believe I have the exact same issue.
