    Hello again. I have one or my buddy does actually and jt used to be mine. I habe one from 1990. It was purchased by a guy I know. It has the Schaller bridge and tooth paste logo though. Crackle finish. I updated the trem to accept a floyd bar and adjust easy. It doesnt have the original pickups though. I wish I had the wiring diagram for it so I can wire it the same with the spliting, etc. I would just use dimarzios though. ❤❤
    Great video. ❤❤...
    Thanks man. They are killer ❤❤

    One of my fav guitars. I have two Rainbow Crackle Predators and a Lava Crackle 3DR. That is my fav pickup config. I have 30+ Jackson and Charvel guitars overall. Oh, I also have one Kramer Focus 1000.

      Nice - I have a Rainbow Model 4 but would love to get my hands on a lava crackle of some kind one of these days. I've also seen a rainbow crackle fusion that had a lot of black - the crackle was really "spaced out" if that makes sense, really cool variation.

    I purchased a used 3DR off of reverb 4yrs ago before the huge spike in prices. Previous goofball owner added a mini toggle a tone pot and maybe another volume pot, wtf? I replaced the trem for a shaller and they are sweet. Going to mod it with a 3 way toggle and 1 vol pot. Keep rocking

    I hear what your saying about these years of guitars, I picked up an old Peavey V-type exp which is the off shore version of the Vandenberg, the neck is amazing! It sat in storage for 20+ years because he never learned how to play. I swapped all the hardware, the Peavey licensed tremolo was trash, installed a Schaller tremolo system and Schaller locking tuners and new pickups. One of the original pickups was microphonic So in the bin it goes lol. One of my go to guitars now. I have an original 1989 Kramer Nightswan Aztec that I absolutely love, 1996 Hamer Californian and a Kramer Dave Sabo signature model. I'm definitely always looking for more of these, but limited myself to ones with reverse headstock, I just prefer them lol.

      @@totallyradguitars959 actually been looking for a Robin since Tim Kelly in Slaughter was using them, never found one for sale unfortunately, took me 20 plus years to find the Peavey guitar lol. That's a big reason why I won't sell my 1989 Kramer Nightswan Aztec, I'd regret it the rest of my days lol

    Good presentation of a nice guitar, i have one to but i dont think it is wired like your desqription, do you have original wiring diagram cause when i tap the pickups in all positions i get it another way

    • @totallyradguitars959
      @totallyradguitars959  Год назад

      Hey, sorry I don't have the diagram and I sold the guitar a while back. If you go to the page on my website, there is a catalog page that describes what the positions are supposed to do, it could probably be reverse engineered with a multimeter.
      This is what it says in the catalog:
      1) Neck
      2) Both Parallel
      3) Both Series
      4) Both Parallel with "Filter circuit"
      5) Bridge Series
      *it doesn't specify if the neck rails pickup is wired series or parallel when selected alone, but mine was series when I got it
      Whoever owned mine before me obviously messed around with it a bit and this is the only one I've ever had. I know it *can* be set up to run a single pickup in split mode with the super-5-way switch. Sorry I'm not much more help I don't own any other guitars with this configuration anymore. Good luck!
      Catalog page, scroll all the way down to the very bottom:

    Hi Man and greetings from the UK . . . I have this exact guitar / colour. . .but . . . 5 way switch, guitar shaped logo, 323 starting serial number , Texas plate on back . . . I believe 88/89 year build. . . I always thought it was a 3dr. . . But now I'm not sure 🤔 I'm selling it and just doing some research and wanted to get my facts right before she goes Ebay. Cheers, mark

    • @totallyradguitars959
      @totallyradguitars959  2 года назад

      Hey Mark, this one also had the 5-way switch. Easiest way to tell to me is if it has the rails neck pickup, it’s a predator, if it’s a single coil with pole pieces, it’s a 3DR. That said, I would title the listing something like “3DR Predator” that way you get the searches for either model, since most buyers are probably looking for both anyway. Cheers!

      @markhealey3831 2 года назад

      @@totallyradguitars959 hi , thanks for the reply. It has Pole pieces not a hot rail . . . .so I'm more inclined to think it's 3dr . . .one more thing. . . As it has a 5 way switch. . .does that mean it will not split on this guitar. And yes , when I list it I will title it 3dr and predator.

      @@markhealey3831 That is quite strange, I'm not sure what the other positions could be then. A stock 3DR should have a J90C bridge humbucker and a J100 single coil in the neck... maybe it's a parts-transition situation? Is there an audible difference between the various positions for the neck pickup?

I am selling it and Money is being donated to for my friends son who was involved in a car accident. . . electric wheelchair purchase. Any way. . . keep up the good work. . Peace ✌️

    Thick fretboards (Jackson) and big frets are the best (imho) for any kind of playing, except maybe slide. Predators were really playable and sounded good too. Just maybe a different bridge pickup. I know, personal preference.

    Fender Japanese guitars are expensive, I had a P-Bass and a strat in the 90s and I came across a p bass like the one that I had and it was going for a thousand bucks I got mine for about $500 new in 1995, the Strat I got used so I don't know what it cost new. everywhere I see them in person they are really expensive like American fenders prices

      Values are all over the place for sure - I wanted a Contemporary strat or tele (MIJ, 80s) and even those have climbed up a lot in price, not to mention the more special ones like the Performer. HM Strats had a price spike too when the reissues came back but they seem to be settling down a bit. This particular guitar is from before Fender bought charvel/jackson of course.

    I'm a little too old and bitter for that noise. Kurt Gobang and his buddies came along and destroyed music and ushered in the garage we have today. After a moment of clarity, and the realization of what he'd done to the greatest music and guitar playing in our history, he grabbed his keys and raced to the nearest sporting goods store. The rest is tragic history. I get it. If I caused the demise of Dokken, Ratt, Scorpions, Judas Priest, Maiden, and Head banger's Ball, I may have done the same thing. The damage was done. Now, we have drop C. I just cannot forgive that. 😩😭😠 😁

      I love my 80s hair metal, feels like home to me, but I like Nirvana and newer stuff too. Also, Black Sabbath tuned down to C# standard as far back as '71, the band Death used drop C, Van Halen used Drop C#... this was all in the 70s and 80s. Kurt Cobain did not invent or popularize Drop C so I feel like your blame is a little misplaced.
      Anyway, nothing wrong with enjoying hair metal and disliking newer stuff, I get that. Other people like different types of music, nothing wrong with that either. Cheers

    The problem is the logo. It's like a BC Rich with the script logo instead of the R logo. The R logo BC Rich guitars are the high end models. The Japanese made guitars are outstanding. I started playing hair guitar in 1985. Lynch, Randy, Eddie, Demartini, etc. Guitars from the 80s were outstanding. All the iconic shapes came from the 80s. The 80s was the Golden Age of Gunslingers. Nothing current, or since the schitt band Nirvana came out with their garbage has compared to the 80s playing. The drop C is horrific.🙆😵😩😬💩
