I love how the shrinking submarine episode shows that Phineas and Ferb aren't just a cover for Perry. He genuinely cares about them and the thought of Doof's Inators harming them makes him get serious and treat him as a real threat.
Perry cares about the whole family. Like he helped clear Lawrence's traffic ticket, while he rescued Candence when she, Stacy, and a girl band were inside a bus and were falling off a broken road.
One of my absolutely favorite things in this show, is how even though Doof is “evil” you never ever doubt that he loves Vanessa or that he’s a wonderful loving, if not a little clumsy father ❤😭
“Busted” is a very catchy song and I really enjoyed how both Candace and Vanessa were singing it. God, I would do anything to see the BTS footage of Ashley Tisdale and Olivia Olson’s reaction to singing that song together. 😊
Like Phineas & Ferb, Doof isn’t trying to hide what he does, in fact he advertises what he does on his building, his ex-wife is just as oblivious as the mom.
Candace’s birthday song to her mom is so sweet 🥰 and Phineas and Ferb have forgotten about it and tried remembering the days before her birthday, lol, but they all together made great gifts for her 😄 that episode where P & F get shrunken in a submarine to go into Pinky’s insides reminds me of the Spongebob episode where Patrick and SpongeBob shrunk themselves and were in a submarine to remove the clarinet reed out of Squidward. They ain’t gotta do Candace like that by calling her a pencil neck 😭 And that Busted song is such a bop!
I'm sure there have probably been several examples of writers using a storyline like that, but THE shrinking submarine storyline for me is the movie Innerspace (1987). In that movie, the tech was being tested secretly and a sub with a pilot inside was shrunk and was supposed to be put into a small animal (a rabbit maybe? I forget) but some bad guys raid the lab to steal the tech. Someone from the lab manages to keep the syringe containing the sub away from the bad guys, but in doing so the sub ends up injected into some random guy (played by Martin Short) that the escaping scientist passed by in a crowd.
Very true. That’s probably the reason for her obsession of trying to bust them. Subconsciously, she figures if she could get them in trouble, she could stop them from being better than her. The problem with that is that they are not trying to compete with her. They believe in her and so does everyone else in her life. The only person who can’t seem to see her potential is herself.
My sister and I have performed the birthday song for our mom every year since. The ice cream episode is so iconic. We get Busted and two familiar voices from our early childhoods. Ming-Na Wen (Mulan) as Dr Hirano/Stacey’s mom and Allison Janney (Peach from Finding Nemo) as Charlene, Doofenshmirtz’ ex wife.

Speaking as someone who has had my tonsils removed, yes, you do get a LOT of ice cream. However, and maybe this was just me, the lack of energy to do much more than eat and watch movies wasn't really worth it. By day 2 of 7(?) or so, I was very bored out of my mind. Outside of health reasons and ice cream, the only reason I'm glad to have gone through this was I can remember being knocked out by the meds they gave me and the grey void of unconsciousness that came with it. That experience was weird and cool at the same time.

Honestly, Vanessa has the best character arc in the entire series. From going from being right beside Candace with her busting endeavours, to actually realizing her father, Dr. Doofenshmirtz actually cares about her and her well-being and doesn't want her to go down a similar path that he did with his own family is what makes her character development grow into something else. Doof's evil was mostly as a way to get petty revenge on a society that shunned him out. Vanessa came to realize this in the episode Finding Mary McGuffin, where she realized that her dad never stopped looking for a discontinued doll and wanted her to have it. This is in stark contrast to Candace's family, where her father, Lawerance Fletcher, sold her Mary McGuffin doll to Doof without her permission and it's written off as a joke. Vanessa also felt like Doof was opverprotecting him, and in the episode Skiddley Whiffers, one of the more serious Phineas and Ferb episodes, she eventually cracks in front of her father, and tells her that she just wants to have a little bit of time alone with her friends. Unlike Marlin in Finding Nemo, Doof doesn't get angry or upset. He's more concerned with Vanessa going off into unfamiliar territory without her father, and like in most Vanessa storylines, this actually proves to be a hazard, since she ends up attracting a bunch of wasps to the campout, and everyone's allergic to bees. Doof then douses himself with honey and tells the bees to come after him, and follows them into a lake where he nearly drowns, all in the name of protecting his daughter. Name a better thing I cannot. In the episode Minor Monogram, Doof has hired an actual threat to his evil plans, Rodrigo, and then notices that Vanessa has just broken up with her boyfriend, Johnny, over a video game. Doof tells Vanessa that maybe she should start dating someone else, and that she should go for more of a good guy than just always being around the bad boy type. This is in clear contrast, since Rodrigo turns out to be a far more insidious threat than Doof ever anticipated. Because of this, Vanessa actually feels genuinely better off around Major Monogram's son, Monty.
There’s more than one future prediction in that fashion trend episode… did anyone else get serious Covid zoom meeting flashbacks from the joke about major monogram not wearing pants? Cuz they’re not on camera?

There are a few amusing literal translations from French like that. The French word for rainbow is literally just "sky arch." It is literally a plot point in The LEGO Movie that a plot point is given a literal translation from French.
