Could have been better. They should have just ended with the entire crew dying like in the book. Leaving on a "cliffhanger" with Clemens as a new vampire story makes no sense in the context of the later story.
I loved this scene in the theater with the surround sound. It was me and one other person when I came to see the movie (so it was very easy to feel alone), and when Drac rapped his cane on the floor, that sound was *everywhere*. Chilling and effective. I would love to see a sequel of this version of the story.
It would've been cool to see who he was writing to. Like at the end, the camera pans in on the note, and it's addressed to Van Helsing, a close friend of Clemens.
Truly the Last Voyage of the Demeter. DEI edition. The Last Voyage of the Demeter (2023) grossed $21,786,275 worldwide, the budget was $45 million. And I'd bet good money no one learned their lesson.
Or hear me out, while having good elements it just wasn't a good film overal. Don't get me wrong I liked a lot of it, just could have use a rewrite or two to tighten up the script.
Clemens survives 😂no one survived in the Demeter, no one. It makes no sense for someone who has bare witnessed the horrors that occurred in that voyage and live to NOT tell the tale after he survived. I know why they wanted the character Clemens to survive. Of course, he survived. It was predictable even though in the actual story, no one did. It didn't make sense and appeared nonsensical. I would have preferred that they all parished, including Clemens.
It’s far more compelling for a single survivor to also not be believed when he tells his tale. Even today there are hundreds of sailors stories that are waved off as hysteria at sea.
It was also hilarious the last scene was of him chasing Dracula in the dark. Like what was he thinking?! I'm gonna 1v1 a thing that's faster, stronger, and smarter then me. I will have my revenge for the woman you stole from me. Lol
This movie is maaaaad underrated
Pretty sure it was highly rated just didn't do well at the box office due to not having the name Dracula in the title 😅
Valid points from both of you
Good
Such a shame, such a gem of a movie

Drac was like, "Knock, knock, Clemens....ready for round 2?"
Clemens: I'm not Clemens anymore...I am Abraham Van Helsing. *Remember it* monster, remember it.
Ahhh you survived my lust hi I'm Noam ferrato
This was such a great film! Im glad i bought it.
That gives me creeps that Dracula is in a suit and top hat gives the Jack the Ripper vibe 1:39
Ya know, given how calculating and brutal this version of Drac is, he would make a perfect Ripper... They could very easily merge the two characters.
