Nik Nocturnal \m/ A video explaining the difference between modes and scales would be hugely appreciated. I was suprised to discover, through your examples, that I lean towards different modes while jamming than I first thought. Leads me to think that my idea of modes being a way to compartmentalize scales might be inaccurate.

Double Harmonic Major is my favorite. It's just major (Ionian) but with two augmented seconds, (like the one in harmonic minor, hence the name harmonic). It sounds like Phrygian dominant but better in my opinion. It's like a dissonance that never truly resolves but is pleasant enough that it isn't unusable like Locrian usually is.

Solos with a flat fifth are just diabolical AF when played over power chords (non-stop perfect fifths). Yours was fantastic! Anyway the song The Evil has Landed by Testament, how much of that is played with Locrian? Certainly the verses right?

All of that sounded amazing ! What is your signal chain ? I have the same guitar but with the thru-body strings. Do you like yours ?
Major thanks for the video also and helping people learn modes.

Hey man, love the vid as always. One thing though is I feel like the leads are a little bit low in the mix on some places, don't get me wrong cause your playing is effin fantastic but I can't help but feel like the lead could be turned up more. Might just be the fact that my ears are giving up on me though, keep up the good work :)
