Truck Tie is my new favorite Game Knight and he needs to be on the next Extra Turns. Make it happen!
Truc Thai* but yea he's got a good Timmy heart that everyone loves lol
I must give the team credit for giving Truck a go and supporting him to get comfortable with the camera over time. When I first saw him he was so nervous that I never thought he would get to this level. It says a lot for putting in the work and a good work environment, being good on camera is more than just natural ability. I love your jokes Truck.
@@alexanderdalton6648 I also love that I can let my little Timmy heart run free through him haha, he's got such a fun mind towards casual magic
Quicky on Rain of Riches. You CAN use it the turn it comes out. You miss-read it as being the first spell each turn rather than the first spell you cast with TREASURE-MANA. As worded if you drop this and use the treasures it generates to cast say Sign in Blood, you cascade that for a 0-1cmc nonland card.
I've put a pitiless plunderer to get heaps of treasures from all the sacs, and if you can cascade with that enchantment it's awesome!
"When's the last time you've seen an uncommon above $2?"
*stares at Sensei's Divining Top*
loved truc's energy in this video. great in front of the camera imo. seemed so positiv and excited. also, the upgrades were all really good.
i picked this deck up they day it dropped, and it is so nice to see that the cards i thought were bad were what they cut here. I also had an idea for this deck to have most of the creatures have persist or undying so that way the creatures replace themselves when the die so you get even more value and turn henzie into pure ramp.
That’s a great idea
If you have the money or a copy in your binder, add Mikaeus the Unhallowed. It does exactly that
@@caseywellington4761 thanks I’ll get to looking
@@caseywellington4761 another good addition would be Sundial of the infinite
Also if you have the money add Junji the Midnight Sky, it’s like 5-10 dollars but it is worth the payoff
So glad we get to see more Truc! That dude is always such a wonderful addition to the podcast
I originally had sundial of the infinite as one of my upgrades, but I decided to go with cauldron of souls. I know its more expensive, but it doesn't cost mana to activate and it can give you even MORE etb triggers on a number of cards in addition to the recurrence. Plus, combined with the potential bounce of temur sabertooh or first responder, you can bounce them back to your hand and then blitz them out all over again and then persist them.
Upgraded my Henzie deck already and it’s super fun, but still really been looking forward to this vid
Same, I added a ton of cards with great ETB and death triggers and a bunch of reamimation. Deck grinds so much value. Easily the most fun precon from the last few years.
@@whimsicll totally agree! One of my most favourite for some time. I made a significant amount of changes myself but the 10 in this vid are cool. The neon dynasty dragons and Riveteers ascendancy in particular are fantastic
I don't buy any of the precons but I watched all 5 episodes of the precon upgrades and I must say Truc & Shauna are my favorites. I love Shauna for her cedh perspective & Truc for his dad jokes, maybe next time put him & JLK together, am pretty sure he would have more comebacks to the jokes than Jimmy.
Great job command zone, looking forward for these episodes for baldur's gate commander decks!
In terms of graveyard recursion, I think "Chainer, Nightmare Adept" is quite nice. You get a body, you can recure one creature per turn (note: you can blitz out creatures in graveyards), fill up your graveyard while doing so and you can blitz it out too
Really appreciate the shout out for fitness 💪 and that I can learn MtG coolness from the super self confident Truk ...my Raycons really help
I feel like Cauldron of Souls would be a really good include for this deck
Video starts at 3:22
I think this was one of the strongest upgrades of the Capenna 5. Really solid case for each card! Nice job Truc!
The fans have spoken! WE WANT MORE TRUC!!!
As a primarily jund player I got this deck immediately and started working on it but still glad for this video as help. I'm going to have to consider some of those cards.
On a side note about making it to the gym. One of my moms best prices of advice I have always remembered
"People make time for what they want to do."
Add.
Phyrexian reclamation
Body snatcher
malakir rebirth
selvala, heart of the wilds
Greater good
Morbid opportunist
Gorex, the tombshell
Goblin anarchomamcer
village rites
Protean hulk
$25
Honourable mentions
Sundial of the infinite
Korvold, fae-cursed king
Take out
The Beamtown bullies
Weathered sentinels
Dodgy jalopy
Aether snap
Bellowing mauler
Turf war
Grime gorger
Kresh, the bloodbraided
Rain of riches
Stalking vengeance
Truc is so awesome. I think this is my favourite upgrade video you guys did for this set. Thanks for acknowledging that we don't all play infinite combos! ♡ #teamtruc
A card I've found that is stupidly good in the deck is Seedguide Ash, which lets you search for three forests, not BASIC forests, just forests, and put them onto the battlefield tapped when it dies. The card is like a dollar and is only 4 mana to blitz out with Henzie in play, really helps you get to that ppint where you can blitz 2 creatures in a turn.
Yes its the perfect creature
"i've found" yeah on edhrec, it's not a personal finding lmao
If you like Malakir Rebirth, you might like Rushed Rebirth. 2 mana, get another creature from your deck onto the battlefield when your creature dies
Would probably love to see an after stats after the upgrade. Maybe a quick comparison to the before one
Truc I want you full deck list so bad this deck is amazing saving the best for last I noticed!
3:03 that’s me! Thank you guys!
I'm sure someone already mentioned it, if you have an instant speed sac outlet you can sack Body Snatcher while the discard trigger is on the stack and get the blitz/reanimation effect without the discard. On the off chance you don't want to fill your bin.
Truc you are an absolute blast to watch! Great energy this episode and swaps. I'd love to see you play your Obeka deck at some point too!
Obeka is one of my favorite deck as well Truc please let me know what and how you are playing yours!!
Fellow Obeka bro!!!!! It's definitely my most tuned deck at the moment. I run a lot of ramp (I think just cut 3 rocks and i think im still at 13 XD) and a lot of card draw. Lots of cute stuff like bounce lands/lotus field/ideas unbound/and the red extra turn spells that you can ignore the downside from with Obeka. Win con right now focuses on myriad since your board state effectively triples each combat. I actively look to cut out infinite combos since that's just not for me. Power level varies a LOT depending on my opening hand. Its lost to precons but has taken a game from Posty. I'm also considering building a 2nd version of the deck focused a lot more around cloning ever since mirror box came out in Kamigawa. Would love to know how you run yours too! Mine can get a bit grindy sometimes so if you have any cool wincons I'd love to hear them
@@brucelee570 still slowly upgrading the rocks that I got because it can go slow but other times man it clocks. I run a lot of recursion whip of erebos, arami sedris and shreold se cheat in effects sneak attack, purphoros and 12-16 steal effects so I can steal other players big bois and keep them. 5-8 extra turn/combat for the value and 3 end turn cards that if I know someone will kill me or can let them have the turn I can control the board. Just added about 5 more planeswalkers for utility.
I love morbid opportunist in my teysa deck, it is already $2 here in Canada so its well on its way. great with the 0/1 eldrazi tokens that let you sac themselves at instant speed to guarantee you're drawing 2 cards per player's turn with Teysa out
I got this precon. I had no trouble taking out Turf War but that's because it immediately went into my Zedruu deck.
Truc Thai will forever be referred too by his full name and title
Got this deck today. Traded in $90 of cards. Got the deck and the rest went to upgrades for it. Gonna try it later. I’ve never played Jund and am super excited.
Built an Ognis deck and it was fun, was looking forward to making a Henzie deck so this should be helpful! Thanks
I went an artifact creature route with Pia's Revolution. Nasty damage synergy with the gearhulks.
This was my first (so far only) pre-built deck and I absolutely love it. It really serves as a one trick pony, do decent damage, get effects, keep your card economy. I've won a few games based off of Stalking Vengeance using my blitzed cards and the enchantment where you can sacrifice a creature in the end step. Giant Adephage is pretty much a win-con as long as just itself does combat damage. I added Ruric Thar and Yurlok, Scorched Thrash as well just for punishment and free jund mana. Both of them as well as Kresh are great for baiting removal. It's so much fun as the entry into MTG.
For some reason, I really like the cauldron of eternity. It gives a little bit of revive to already dead creatures, and it prevents you from decking out. You're hopefully gonna be drawing a lot of cards, so all the dudes that die go back on into the deck to be drawn and played again. You remember that joy you had when you drew Ghalta to blitz out? Now you have the chance to draw Ghalta again.
Jolene is insanely fun with token and counter doublers.
Wohoo! Thanks for the video! I’ve been waiting for this one
More Truc!
I love the puns!
22:24 This in incorrect, if one of the targets is removed you still sac and reanimate the other. If they have no creatures to sac as it resolves it does fizzle though. From Gatherer:
"If one of the targeted creature cards is an illegal target (for instance, because it has left your graveyard before Victimize resolves), you'll still sacrifice a creature and put the other card onto the battlefield. If both are illegal targets, Victimize won't resolve. You won't sacrifice a creature."
I can't find the episode this allegedly happened, but I assume because Jimmy's bringing it up again they weren't informed of how it works.
I made some pretty deep cuts to this deck when I got it.. but I also decided on Ziatora for the commander as opposed to Henzi
How do you guys think you'd evaluate Morbid Opportunist vs Grim Haruspex? I mean I guess it depends on if you're consistently getting more than one blitz out on your turn, but for the average deck I'm not sure how to evaluate these two against one another. I mean the obvious solution is ¿por que no los dos? but still lol
This deck is on its way to my house. Can't freaking wait!
love this series and the riveteers are amazing however Truc's puns, S-class.
"I don't think you could even be mad!" - Well as I found out at my LGS yes, yes they could be very mad
Blitz Rampaging Brontodon. Bounce it back with First Responder. All those counters!? Wow that's a lot of damage!
I'm loving Henzie, I've only done a couple of swaps but want to tune him in more. My GF bought his deck and ended up giving it to me. I bought Kitt Kanto but Kitt was destined to be pulled apart to finish off my Jetmir deck so she never really saw any play.
I turned this deck into a variation of death triggers tribal actually worked pretty well in it's first game
Thank you guys for all the cool videos. You see how much fun you have.
Okay hear me out .. 4cmc Artifact Creature Tribal 😂 I legit built this and the goal is to play Henzie at least twice to four times then you can blitz your creatures out for free. Then with a sac outlet you can keep drawing and playing your deck on a loop then have artifact or death triggers for the win 😝 it's mana intensive but super fun
Play big creatures, turn sideways, draw cards. This is all I want to do in MTG all in 1 deck
How? The don’t have haste.
@@joshuacapps6717 Blitz gives haste
baloth null was a good add for me. similar to the turtle and between the two they loop.
I believe Rain of richest can be used the turn it comes out. As long as it wasn't cast with treasures.
Correct, your first spell cast with treasures is your first spell cast with treasures: any effect that talks about the first/second/fourteenth time you do something in a turn looks back in time.
Genesis [4][G], 4/4 Creature - Incarnation
At the beginning of your upkeep, if Genesis is in your graveyard, you may pay [2][G]. If you do, return target creature card from your graveyard to your hand.
HUGE missed opportunity with Cauldron of Souls and, while I’ve only played with this deck twice, I won both games thanks to Stalking Vengeance. Also, blitzing out Malignus feels so nice with Stalking Vengeance on the board.
I like playing Chainer, Nightmare Adept in my Henzie deck, that way I can replay stuff I already blitzed once each turn.
So something else you can do with cards like Soulgorger Orgg is if you kill them with their first trigger on the stack the second part triggers first to replenish their life, then it drops to one and they don't get it back and they're stuck at one.
This is especially nasty with Worldgorger Dragon, make them exile everything but before that goes off kill it, so the first effect that goes off is get everything back which is nothing, then they exile everything and are left with nothing at all.
Was thinking grave infect treasure wheel might be a good combo with this commander. But kinda spent already making my Mardu deck from the last set.
It's kind of just Jund goodstuff but Riveteers Ascendancy is just so good for Henzie. You're sacrificing creatures on end step anyway, and it's free recursion. Getting back smaller creatures off your sacrifices that you were doing anyway is just too good to pass up. If you can get an instant speed sac outlet (I use Hidetsugu, Devouring Chaos) it gets even more nuts since it's once per turn.
I'm also a little surprised that they didn't mention Industrial Advancement, which is an absolute powerhouse in this deck. You're gonna sacrifice those huge creatures on end step anyway, and turning them into new, free creatures is nuts. Even if you only get one activation of this, the deck is full of so many huge creatures that you're pretty likely to get a hit, and it'll probably be pretty impactful.
Jimmy you forget to mention bramble sovereign. Give them eater of days, make a copy. It skips their next 4 turns, at that point they lose.
Not to mention flayer of the hate bound on your battlefield and giving them soulgorger orgg, it also kills immediately
Isn't it better to just give them Leveler or Inverter of Truths though?
Also, as cool as it seems the deck loses hard to graveyard hate. And if you pull that commander on me then you know I'm pulling out my graveyard hate.
@@CKarasu13 yeah but there’s a good amount of ways to take the deck, mine is a splash of mean with nice, like giving people Tempting wurm, or boldwyr heavweights preferably copied with bramble sovereign, then usually when I think someone’s been around to long, yes I can leveler them on their upkeep, but I’d rather give the player who’s behind a solemn simulacrum. then just use my royal assassin or something of the like to pop it so they draw as well! Plus searching all the mean targets gets boring. yeah me heavyweights as the first target is repetitive, but not if everyone switches decks every game!
If you add something like Finale of Eternity I think Kresh becomes a lot more interesting. Stack him up, sacrifice him to Disciple of Bolas and you would draw a lot of cards, send a lot of big creatures to your graveyard and then you could bring them all in to play along with everything your blitzed for 12 mana with Finale of Eternity. Garruk's Uprising would give them all trample too.
I love my toolbox deck but mine is heavily upgraded! Played it 5 times and only lost 1 time, and it took the rest of the pod to stop me!
So correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure that when you kill somebody with leveler, it goes back to your graveyard because the end step trigger wouldn’t have happened. Confirmation or correction would be appreciated.
can we stand still by the art of Grime Gorger? it's so amazing
Why does nobody talks about prowling geistsnatcher,i feel like it could easily be one of the best cards in the deck ..any opinions ?
If we talking budget yes but for big spenders food chain seems a good option too
Is that the correct ruling on Rain of Riches? It reads as though you can cast a spell with treasure, AFTER casting the enchantment, and that spell will still have Cascade. As long as another spell wasn't cast with treasure that turn.
I've played turf war and it was countered. Was about to get all the contested lands with blockers to stop anyone from getting it back. In a token deck I can see it doing some good it's almost like 5 mana get 3 lands untapped.
I've played it and taken it out because it easily goes against you. Your opponents can steal each other's marked lands as much as you can.
@@alexcanniccioni7563 thats why I said a token deck you usually have blockers and each player can only take one from you at a time. So if you can get all three the turn you play it worse you have is parody which admittedly its bad for 5 mana. But as a fun card for casual tables or marisi decks that never let you attack him it could be deece.
If you want to be mean, add tree of predition. 3 mana turn somebodys life to 13 is great
Jesus didn't think that there would be this many adds in a single video
Malakir rebirth is a 2$ uncommon in a set that rotated out recentlyish
Zendikar doesn’t rotate out of standard for another 4 months
@@skykur really? My bad
Also for stats, why not look at ETB and leave the feild effects?
It could be a go, act as combo off?
I have a question, does Rakdos, Lord of Riots reduce blitz cost? If it does, does anyone think that's a decent ass to this deck?
Yes its reduces the mana
Will you have a game knights with these precons upgraded?
Just here for the Boom-Shacka-Lacka!!!
Whole creature base is split into play from hand utility & BLITZ = BIGSMASH!!!
I like Chainer, Nightmare Adept. You can blitz from the GY
Built a Beamtown Bullies deck that is borderline cEDH. Focuses on getting out an untapper, Beamtown, and tutoring Phage the untouchable into grave. Basically wins the game on the spot unless my opponents have instant speed removal.
Phage the untouchable is a legendary creature and beamtown can only target non legendary creatures.
@@cameronroach1788 Oh shit, you're right. Well I've got to apologize to my playgroup. Oops
Truc...your humor is the same as mine. I want to be your friend soooo badly
Built it. Put lifetime in and the riveter enchantment that revives a smaller creature.
lifeline ain't budget though
Why would you play Morbid Opportunist over Grim Haruspex? It's not that much more expensive money wise
Where's the list?
I'm going trough your videos like this one and I had an idea for you for a new kind of video.
As you have gone trough tons of commander reviews and upgrades now, and wotc is releasing more and more and more.. How about a video now and then of how some of the decks you covered, or commanders, have evolved over time with some updates and perhaps even what cards you didnt see the power in until late.. What the decks are worth today with the included cards from the precon.. And so on and on.
It would be really interesting!
Ruling question because I'm a new player: How does a double-faced card like "Malakir Rebirth" work? If I place it into my deck as such, does it stay the same face throughout gameplay or can I change face mid-game? Is the other face even accessible? :
I really wanna build toolbox as a just self chaining value machine. With tons of 4 or 5 drops that have mostly colorless in the cost, and sac outlits like the alters. And just chain a value engine along and drop a garna put it all back to your hand and just keep chaining as the alters and toolbox should pay for 90% of ur spells if not all of it also with something like bergi out helps alot to, and if u have anything with incidental value like makes tokens on etb or death ect. Your just gonna churn out the value...
Turfwar = Thantis Deck.
I have nothing more to say.
Also, check out the super underrated land: contested war zone. It's what inspired Turf War
My personal #1 upgrade Marauding Raptor
Selvala
have i missed the game where they play this deck?
If you get this deck a great card is myth unbound
The first time I heard the card talked about it was considered bad, because usually it doesn't help you unless you are already falling behind. In this deck however your commander scales with each recast and is a cost reducer, so I agree that it is a shoe-in.
great episode! more Truck pls! 🙌🏽✨
You should add Tend the Pests
if you have the money Mikaeus the Unhallowed is nuts in this deck
Henzie is great for this playstyle but can be made even better. You don't have to invest in multiple big payoff creatures if you're using combat wisely and effectively. This commander essentially turns every creature 4 cmc or higher into a Lightning Ball that replaces itself on death, and if you're focusing on aggro you can generate a MASSIVE amount of value from this deck. Sacrifice really wants to be a secondary focus with great small additions such as attrition, viscera seer, ziatora, korvold etc to take advantage of what the decks strong suit actually is... Hasting in big creatures who's mana value is decreased and have strong power and lowered toughness. The haste also enables Attack triggers on cards like Illharg, returning blitzed creatures to your hand. Honestly you don't want the mana values going over 6 as a baseline if creatures are over that value their abilities need to be worth the inclusion for how mana heavy the deck is.
Keep making puns they're hilarious :D
Why is no one talking about mortuary and Ashnod’s altar ? Insanely good with this deck tbh. Alena, Kessig trooper too
Can we get a deck teck for bulles plz
Why village rites when you have skullclamp
Just finished going through all the Capena Upgrade CZ's and I gotta say, there really needs to be a better way of choosing who does what deck. This one and the Grixis one were good, but the person designing for cEDH not getting the highest power level, the Esper deck hard pivoting playstyle and the Bant deck being looked at by someone who's never played Bant makes the whole series feel.... unoptimized, I guess? It seems like this was more of a fun experiment for your office than trying to actually produce the best upgrade guides. Like, if I were trying to get into cEDH I'd want to buy a deck that has the highest chance of being successful, not pick a random one and hope it's sufficient. Hearing "I've never built a Bant deck before" is a major blow to my confidence on you finding cool cards that aren't obvious.
I want to stress that all the guests were fantastic personalities, I enjoyed listening to them and it was refreshing to have a variety of perspectives. It's just that I enjoy TCZ because you of the wealth of experience and I don't feel that was best displayed here.
I will argue till the day I die that gold tokens are better than treasure
... i mean you _can_ use rain of riches the turn it comes out you just need to have a lot of mana for it.
You don’t get the cascade effect the turn you play it. Because rain of riches was the first spell you played
@@skykur No, that is not the wording.
"The first spell you cast each turn that mana from a Treasure was spent to cast"
the word if does not appear. it doesn't care which spell it is so long as it is the first one cast with a treasure. it only doesn't work if you cast rain with a treasure token
@@Spyromancy598 ahh that is true. Thanks for clarifying
@@skykur no worries man. not a lot of cards are worded this way so I understand the confusion.
Am I the only one who thinks Rise of the Dread Marn would be a Phenomenal addition to the deck because you are just killing loads and loads of creatures on your turn because of Blitz and if you play this card late game you could potentially wipe out a few players because of what it does.
