Love Pentatonix and they do this great song so beautifully
I've been going down this rabbit hole for a week now and am calling it my "spiritual retreat." If you want to be truly mesmerised, I'd suggest reacting to Run To You. It was written by Avi and Kevin and as a Pentaholic, I don't think it's requested often enough, especially for those who just tripped into the hole. You'll know everything you need to know about each of them just by hearing the purity and unity of their voices.
They have won three Grammy's for Daft Punk, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy and Jolene with Dolly Parton.
Definitely need to do The Prayer, Amazing Grace, Prayers for this World
AND two other nominations. Also a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!
The two nominations were for their 2021 and 2022 Christmas albums: "Evergreen" and "Holidays Around the World," respectively.
Yes Amazing Grace is a must. Everything they do is awesome. You have so many to react to. You will love them all.

Btw Kevin does solo. I believe it was in The little drummerboy song.. also great voice.. ❤
You have got to do The Prayer and Amazing Grace. They just blow you away constantly. I am a Pentaholic and proud of that fact. Just love them.
Kevin does a solo at the end of Amazing Grace where they’re at that stunning church. For those who think he just does beatboxing because they think he can’t sing, he proves them wrong here. If I remember correctly, it starts at about 4:09.
PTX is pretty well known for including one or two non-Christmas songs on their Christmas albums. For instance, on their latest Christmas album, "Kiss From a Rose" is hardly a Christmas song, but it's on the the album nonetheless.
And it is wonderfully amazing!
Other non-Christmas songs they released on Christmas albums include "Hallelujah," "The Prayer," and "Prayers For This World."
From left (our left, not theirs) to right: Matt, Kirstin, Scott, Mitch, Kevin.
If a song includes any kind of wintery mention, Scott (tall blonde) will include it on a Christmas Album LoL
Like this past Christmas, Kiss from a Rose was included in the Christmas album because it has the word snow in it. There’s a short of Scott going thru his process of trying to find songs that’s pretty funny.
Remember, only upgrades...
Glad you’re keeping Pentatonix in the rotation, thanks! They did a version of God Only Knows from The Beach Boys that I really like, I think also on a Christmas album. I don’t mind in the least if they stretch the definition of holiday music, I’m on board for it all. Can you imagine what a cover of Bridge Over Troubled Water would sound like if they chose to cover that one? Fantastic, I’m sure. Loved your reaction! Peace …
I would love for them to cover more Simon and Garfunkel, too! Like the *whole* 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' album! Starting with "BOTW" and "The Boxer"! And "Scarborough Fair!" Especially "Scarborough Fair!"
Nice reaction. Thanks.
For an example of their vocal precision and dexterity check out their upgrade of Gold by Kiiara. For high energy there's Can't Hold Us, Sing, Blinding Lights, and Cruisin' for a Bruisin' doesn't attract many reactors but is definately worth a watch. A couple featuring Kirstin are Shallow and Be My Eyes. That should tide you over for a few weeks. Keep in mind, this just scratches the surface of their talent as practically every song exhibits some unique and amazing facet of their abilities.
Include "Royals" in that list, too!
Much to the dismay of my parents in the 60's, my sister bought Simon and Garfunkel's (sp?) album at a time when the Vietnam war was in full swing. This was one of my favorite tracks. Every reaction of PTX's rendition gives me goosebumps. Thanks!!
Recommend their cover of The Prayer.
This one is from relatively early in Matt's tenure with the group, early 2019, after he'd been with them for about 1 1/2 years (it's now been almost 7 years!). Their last 2 Grammy nominations were for full albums, Evergreen (from Christmas 2021) and Holidays Around the World (from Christmas 2022, nominated in 2023 for the awards in February 2024). The category they were nominated in both times was a pretty broad one, and was stacked pretty heavily with strong artists, so they didn't win either of those. The submission for consideration comes from the record label, not the group. Many think RCA should have submitted just "The Prayer" instead of the whole album from 2022, might have had a better chance, but it is what it is. The Prayer and Amazing Grace are both fabulous performances.
We Pentaholics thank you. Can never get enough of our beloved Pentatonix. Greetings from South Africa
Just subscribed for more PENTATONIX
You're doing great!
Nice!
It wasn’t on an album. It was released as a single.
This wasn't on a Christmas album, it was on the same album as Imagine n I believe Bohemian Rhapsody.
I'm not sure The Sound of Silence was on an album. The two you mentioned are off of PTX Vol. IV - The Classics, but it's not listed in the contents on that album. I know when I bought it off Amazon a few years ago, it was as a single, not as part of an album.
Further research just muddies the waters. The "Pentatonix discography" page in Wikipedia seems to indicate that it might be on the PTX Japan 5th Anniversary Greatest Hits, but looking at that album it doesn't seem to be listed in the contents.
At this point, I'm going with "it was released as a non-album single", since they've done that for multiple songs.
@@Badger77722 K. Thanks for the correction.
This is post-Avi so wouldn’t have been on the same album.
@@jcs1025 face-palm...oops! How could I make that mistake. Well, it is a classic and belongs there! Lol
Nothing lacking there...
You should give a listen to The Evolution of Michael Jackson and Beyonce.
