Surviving Storm BTP International Camporee // Pathfinder Strong

- On Tuesday, August 6th, 2024, a storm came and wanted to disturb our plans for the week. It was quick and strong. We have overcome. What a memory?
What else will God do for our kids?
Our club had no issues with our tents and canopies; praise the Lord. We set up with larger items on the windward side of camp to assist with wind blockage. Our canopies were not only tied down well to the posts, we reinforced our canopy legs as well as pulled additional tie lines to the ground and screwed them into the soil. All our tents were 4 season wind "resistant" tents as well (Cabella's Alaskan Tents). Just before the storm hit, we were watching, zipped everything up, tested our lines, and tucked a bunch of things under the camper trailer we had on site. Of course we prayed and then prayed the Lord would bring to mind anything we may have forgotten, and when there was nothing else to think of, we took shelter in one of the buildings. Honestly, I think we would have been safer back at camp with the way some people were acting in the building. It was very unsettling, but we huddled in a corner out of the way and waited for the storm to pass. Once passed, we surveyed our camp and then behand helping our neighbors with the destruction in their camps (rebuilding canopies, emptying tents of water, helping any way we could). The storms out west are no joke and there was a lot to be learned from this trip. We're looking forward to the next one already!
I am so glad you were so well prepared. Blessings to your club!!
Our club evacuated to the Central Pavilion during the storm. Their canopies tumbled across the campsite, crushing tents in their path. Perhaps if we'd held ours down like you did, the destruction wouldn't have been as bad, but none of the adults felt safe to stay on the hill with all the lightning. We determined that can replace our tents and canopies, we can't replace our kids and parents. We're already strategizing for storm preparation for 2029!
Camping isn't camping without a storm. God bless you !
Agreed. Lol
Thankful you all are ok. I will pray about the weather. The one and only camporee I got to go to as a pathfinder, we got rained out and had to leave early.
So glad you are all okay! Our conference was able to shelter in place. Most were in the stables up above international village.
Praise the Lord, our Rock, for holding your tents down and keeping you safe through it. He is still good and kind even in the storm 🙌🏽
Praying for all of you !! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thank you.
Maybe not a good idea to hang onto steel poles in a lightning storm?
May God take care of you all.
Thanks for video. I'm glad you guys are okay. We sheltered in the auditorium. Packed is not a strong enough adjective! Our club is very fortunate. Everything is standing.
I am glad you all are safe.
Sad that the evening program was cancelled but we’ve been in a drought all summer. We needed this rain. And don’t worry: the storms here pass as quickly as they arrive.
Thank for letting us know.
Glad you guys came out ok…. My club made it through we are Ohio Wilmington Beacons…. Prayers for one of the Iowa clubs that lost almost everything… their tents were shredded!
I am glad that you all are safe. Praise God for small blessings.
We all are praying for you. Remember God is in control. 🙏
